PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING!! While there were no guards within sight of the camera, please know that the King very much had plenty of security nearby and numerous vehicles had scouted the route the King was walking before and after him. He had his own space, but still very much protected, as you would expect for a King.
Hi, just a polite suggestion to pin this comment of yours to the top. Many people are questioning the security situation and this clears things up for everyone.
Thank you so much for sharing this clip. King Charles is an amazingly personable man. I've always held him in high regard and this was simply just beautiful to watch.
Unless the three of you were searched, then it shows the royal security still carry an element of trust. Would not have been the same experience in the US.
I heard the same happened to The Queen and someone said "has anyone ever told you that you look like The Queen?" The Queen then replied "How very reassuring".
My favorite is when some Americans met the Queen but didn't realize it. They asked her if she ever meets the Queen and she said that she didn't but her companion (I think he was her body guard) regularly did. They wanted a picture with him after that 😆
@@motherofone979 didn't she tell that story in the David Attenborough interview? As far as I remember, she also took a photo with them and had a good laugh at the thought how they got home just to realize it really WAS her they met 😀
for a king the true privilege is to be able to walk alone, meet other walkers on his way and exchange a few words about the weather without feeling the weight of his crown.
@@misterwhite37 it says a lot about a country if the head of state has security which affords him a feeling of being 'free' and engage in casual chats with strangers without compromising his personal safety. no US president would get away with this mindset. but then again, it all happened on his own private property and he has already done most of his duty by firmly securing the line of succession. it surely is a great pleasure for him to occasionally feel almost 'normal' and not in his formal role of king all day. meeting 'ordinary' people and not always ministers, offcials, foreign dignitaries and somesuch must be a relief he cherishes
Spot on. I like how the group didn't appear to be big fans of the monarchy but seem to appreciate how he interacted with them like a normal bloke (not sure if I can use that word, as I'm an American).
i like to imagine that if i was some celebrity or head of state, i would love to feel like a normal joe every so often and just have a normal interaction not curated by handlers and security.
they just fanboyed over him being the king, he definitely wasnt alone. Probably told his bodyguards to get out of the camera to keep up this act of humbleness.
This really is a story from medieval times, bumping into a King in the forest, him departing fellow travelers with some wisdom. Story of a lifetime, bravo mate.
@@wewenang5167no he doesn't lmfao. The UK is a constitutional republic by this point. All the king does is be a representative of the government he is not legally allowed to make any decisions in politics.

If this were an American president there'd be a formation of helicopters patroling that field. How ironic that the USA was supposed to do away with the trappings of nobility and yet now the American presidents require more pomp and circumstance than the king of England.
The fact these riders broke the conversation with "well it was lovely to meet you" is so British I love it. They stayed the perfect amount of time for a walking chat and excused themselves ❤
“I didn’t want to care but that was pretty cool” is something I totally understand. Seeing the king up close in public surrounded by guards would be far less noteworthy. Seeing the king randomly out walking that beautiful path, alone, being a human and enjoying himself and his thoughts, THAT is special and he just talked to you as if he were an older man out for a walk. What a truly rare and unique experience. THAT is something I’d hope most people care about.
I love this comment. I've come across a couple of famous people who were out and about doing ordinary stuff and they were so down to earth! No royalty as I live in New Zealand but I did manage to snag a dinner table next to Vigo Mortensen who played Aragorn in the Lord of the rings movie. I got to spend the next 2 hours just yarning away before the restaurant owner closed the place and invited me to stay and have drinks with them. Spending an evening sinking beers with Vigo Mortensen will be one memory I will never forget.
@@dontewhaiti3181 I had an experience like that at a pub in Vancouver, Canada... except I didn't know the guy was famous until about an hour into sitting beside him and chatting. Turns out he was a famous hockey player (whose name I've forgotten again), which, in Canada, is pretty much like being royalty. I realized he was famous when people asked him for his autograph. I was super into fitness, so we compared notes on fitness routines and stuff. He also talked about the younger players who liked to date a lot, and how he couldn't imagine doing that, and how much he loved his wife. He was really nice. At one point, I asked, "Are you offended that I don't know who the f*ck you are?" He said no, no, that was exactly what he was hoping for at that pub.
The King certainly impressed me. Plenty of people won't even acknowledge you when out walking but he was up for a chat. You folks deserve a wrap too for not asking for a bloody selfie. Respect.
Without his Royal Guards The King had no idea strangers approach him are with any bad intentions , so he played cool and stop talking to them not to provoke any crazy people. The King should be more careful all by himself in the country road like this.
This video is priceless. The more I see of King Charles recently, the more it dispels the character that the press promoted for years of an uncaring royal. He is clearly accessible and willing to be available for people. What a lovely man, and what a wonderful interaction for you guys. Thanks for sharing. Get well soon KCIII
I’ve met the king twice, both times when he was still the prince of Wales. The first was at a formal event in Birmingham and the second time I just bumped into him and had a quick chat. On both occasions I thought he was the most polite, mild mannered, pleasant human being one could imagine.
this is such a parasocial way to view things.. its like saying oh i dont believe michael jackson diddles kids cause he is so nice in interviews.. like a serious question dont you think that most people would be able to play a persona for like 15min? and then be assholes in private? didnt alot of people say the same about jimmy saville?
How lovely to meet someone important who isn’t busy acting important. Just out for a walk in a place he loves, and happy to chat with people who share his appreciation for the place.
@@garryellison I met Norway's health minister on a hike in the mountains during covid times when he was probably the most popular politician in Norway. He was very chill and humble, of course he wasn't the king and Norway is a tiny country, but still.
@@ChrisHyde537 Haha true if it was Magnus Carlsen I would kneel! I'm not really a huge fan of his party (conservative party) but he and the party did a great job during the pandemic. It was just a really nice encounter and him and his husband were really nice and it felt like I was just meeting two normal people. I also met the prime minister from the same party at a festival in Stavanger once and at two o'clock at night while being fairly drunk she just said "I think it's time I leave" and she just walked by herself with no bodyguards to the hotel. I figured this was only possible in Norway, but watching Charles walking without bodyguards it seems it's also the case for the UK. Our former king once said when asked why he had no bodyguards "I have 4 million bodyguards" referring to every Norwegian being his bodyguard.
His majesty was a gentleman. Very cool experience. Beautiful country. Respect and appreciation from 🇺🇸 (shame the royals are not portrayed like this more often)
I love the story about how an American couple bumped into the Queen whilst walking/hiking, but they didn't realise who she was & even said to her 'I've heard sometimes the Queen walks around here, have you ever met her? And the Queen just smiled and said that she hadn't. 😂
That was a funny story... I remember Her Late Majesty recollecting the meeting and about died laughing. Americans abroad are such funny kids....and I'm American and have lived abroad. You can pick out an American in a crowed room I swear.
This is how most european leaders are, you can meet em at the public sometimes. Like here in Finland, our president is often walking his dogs, playing hockey at the local field etc casual things and nobody would ever even think causing trouble. Thats how we like it. :)
I met his dad years ago as a kid in New Zealand, he gave me the time of day and actually was interested in my life in NZ. I Loved your interaction with our King. He is our king too. :)
Yea the fact he took his time to have a small chat with them was so nice, not everybody does that these days. But i guess he was in his element out there on that day.
Hes a billionaire that made his money on the backs of the people and doesnt have an perspective on the life of the people, especially not the cost of living
I like the fact King Charles is so involved in his estates; talking about renovations and planting trees in precisely that area; He’s not just left it to estates management. There’s something quintessentially British about just bumping into the king on a trail - happy to see it 🙂
@FITNESSOVER45 There is public permission to hike, cycle and pass through the estate (with certain restrictions of course) but I can understand how confusing it may be to see a head of state go from a heavily protected and secure individual to essentially just another bloke you'd meet down the pub such as in this case.
Somehow I would not imagine bumping into my French President Emmanuel Macron during his jogging ride in the Bois de Boulogne...Security wouldn't let me approach or talk to him.Different culture
@FITNESSOVER45 Not all "Muricans" are uneducated. I am from New York and know exactly where this is. If you immerse yourself in other countries cultures and Geography you would most likely know.
This happens in Sweden too, the king sometimes takes his hunting dogs out for a walk in Hagaparken. So you can just randomly run into him. But don't ever think he's unprotected.
I have to admit, he went up in my estimation. The fact that he stopped and chatted with you as every other hiker would is fantastic. Seems like a nice guy.
I like that you didn’t even try to exploit this meeting into a photo op and just had a nice chat like normal people. Once in a lifetime, good for you, guys!
My sister is a photographer, that's all she does. I said to her once, "you know, you spend your entire life trying to capture life, but it is in this endeavor that you lose sight of it." It went over her head.

Never even watched this channel before but seeing a vlogger who in a day visits a cabin, sees a king and rides over boulders sure shows the accomplishments of some people. You really should love life.
As a Brit, thank the heavens you treated him with respect, and that you didn't talk to him as if he was a celebrity. You have earned my respect. And to the King, just having a chat and departing some wisdom unto these men, that was a very calm thing to do. Just being that knowledgeable guy who is up for a chat. Signs of a good king? Yes. The Queen would be proud.
Not seeing the beginning of their meeting, let us imagine that the proper greeting protocol for seeing a King on his land while biking took place. What would be the proper protocol? Purely educational question.
The King seems to be an introvert and enjoys his own company and nature. Must be hard being a public figure. The pressure and constant attention must really get to him. It's nice to see him relaxed and comfortable in his own environment.
@@RealJPMcGrathWell, he didn't choose to be. He has it easy, but being a public figure that is as important as the king while being an introvert and an old man...
The end of the interaction with the king, when he says don’t fall off… he knows the path you are taking and probably thinks you are crazy for doing it but admires you all for it too. What I really liked about the conversation with the king was the questions. He would be used to being asked some ridiculous things or the same things all the time, but you kept it relevant. Just like asking any land owner if some old building are still in use. He seemed to really enjoy the conversation and appeared to be thinking back to when he was younger as well. Well done.
Regardless of political opinion, he seems a nice man. Seems so surreal to see someone so important just out on his own, and so willing to chat because it’s something he enjoys. Really humanises him. I’m glad this moment was captured.
You should read some history. It's not great. The most evil people to ever exist are perfectly capable of acting civil for the most part. I don't consider crimes against humanity and the freedom of citizen's to be a "political opinion". FYI, one of the most public things is the strange evidence surrounding Diana's death. A lot of coincidences such as Diana revealing Charles's affair and growing animosity. Not to mention growing immense wealth while the country sees extreme poverty get worse every year for decades under his watch (however, usual for the royal family). Just the fact that a constitutional monarchy still exists for a superpower country with fission weapons in the modern time is insane. These people should all be put on a rope by the public and elect representatives that are fit for power and executive decisions, with wealth removed from the equation.
The Kaiser also had a heart of gold too, favourite descendent of Queen Victoria, and chumming with King Eddy, not realizing the fratricidal loathing Eddy & Eddy's wife had, and the secret-society (Cecil Rhodes, Alfred Milner, Cecil Brett, Rotschild, etc) designs Eddy had participated in, Royally. The German generals were unstoppably eager to play along with the secret-society machinations.
That was unbelievable Andrew, and how amazing that he was genuinely interested and pleasant to talk to. Also, great that he was walking alone without any security bothering him on his walk...Respect!
He's really king of a country. He doesn't care about anything, he's just strolling on his lands. And enjoying the people he found on the road. I respect that.

I have always wondered why the UK is the noblest nation and why the British Empire is the noblest empire. This beauty full video gives one of the answers. The precious icing on the cake was when HM the King gave a parting counsel to the bikers, "Don't fall off". Amazing interaction of paternal care and kindness showed by a King to his subjects and citizens. Cool! 🇵🇭❤️🇬🇧
I'm an American. This popped up on my homepage so I clicked. What an awesome moment. The fact that he's just walking alone, in the rain, is wild to me. So cool.
I read somewhere a few years ago the queen out on her own walk ran into a couple of American tourists, stopped and chatted but they didn't recognize her. Being a bit cheeky she never let on and took a few photos for them but then one with her self in it in the hopes they would only later when showing friends catch on.
its truly amazing!!! He met another person!!! Do people really care that much this shit? Never understood those that find meeting someone famous is great.... They are just people.
This one video has gotten me to see the King as a human being, still a King but actually him as a person. Just strolling through his Kingdom alone with his thoughts and having a nice chat with the younger generation. Media has painted such a different picture of the man, and I can say I truly think the King is a kind person going on by what I just saw.
I swear to god if this was not on video, I don’t think anyone would’ve believed you when you got home. Especially with how casual and relaxed the encounter was 😅
The reason the Royals genuinely love Balmoral as it’s one of the few places where they can be free to live a “normal” life. This is one of the reasons the Queen wanted her life to end there. One of my friends has also met Charles there, it’s not at all uncommon for walkers/cyclists to bump into them when they are at the estate.
Aww poor royals not getting to live a normal life. I Imagine they would love to be worrying about food prices rocketing, heating their small flat, getting a GP or dentist appointment, their home being repossessed because of out of control inflation, not being able to afford rent, their services being cut etc. The list of things that they must really be so sad they miss out on because of their vast wealth and privilege goes on and on and must cause them untold agony. You and your ilk are so brainwashed it beggars belief.
If they wanted to live a normal life that badly, they could abdicate, but nooo can't give away all that unearned wealth and a lavish lifestyle because 'God wills it' can we?
The Balmoral estate, - Yes, Stolen from a Scots family of Farquarsons, by the English Crown (Not Scots Crown) after Culloden. Passed about a few times after, then sold to Victoria & Albert, who immediately tore down the original Family Castle of the Farquarsons and built the bogus buildings you see today.
The Royals genuinely love Balmoral as it is the closest they get to being normal - they can walk, her late Majesty used to drive herself around... so it was lovely that Charles took time to talk with folk similarly enjoying the fresh air.
Thanks. I wanted to repeat it like all the comments but you explained it to me why they can be like that in this place. He seems to really enjoy it, too! When he heard you were using the Hut wich they just renovated for travelers. Wich also gives me this England Vibe. We were a few times visiting Uk and always got some really really really nice Cottage for a decent price for a Week. 🥰
Videos like this just go to show that underneath all the pomp and ceremony lies another human being who shares the same passion for being outdoors as any one of us. It’s remarkable that the he’s even afforded the opportunity to walk alone between security details. What a thrill to share that brief encounter though. It’s truly something you’ll never forget! Thank you for sharing!
I think it‘s quiet different to ordinary leaders because none of the royals choosed to be leaders. They somehow need to deal with it, while the ordinary ones are of a certain character to begin with.
Wasn't this Balmoral? It is a large estate belonging to the monarch with areas deliberately designed to allow long walks. And the security is discreetly deployed. I was surprised to see that ordinary people would be allowed anywhere near the King while he is at the property. It was cool to see the pleasant interaction with the biking group.
Incredible that! Monarchy fan or not - that little interaction just shows that he is a bloke who cares about the outdoors, the environment, adventures and sport etc and was genuinely interested in what you were doing, and how you found the bothy. Bet that will be a tale to tell for years to come!
There’s something so cool not just the king being down to Earth and not taking issue with being called “sir”, but also with your lady friend fanning away some tears when she rode off to even her surprise because meeting the King of England was an overwhelming experience, even in the smallest interaction.
Clicked to see the King, stayed for the ride. Impressive stuff! The rocky descent was amazing. I’m from Canada and its a great enjoyment to see our King in such a casual manner. Indeed I’ve seen clips of Queen Elizabeth out by herself on the grounds of Balmoral having a very similar walk.
That quip at around 05:44 "Don't fall off" was quite cheeky. He seems like a nice guy. As a non-UK person, I was under the impression that meeting a royal, especially *the* top royal would require getting off your bikes and curtsying or whatever, but instead we got a nice chat. I liked that he was very specific too about where he wanted to plant more trees. And that descent down the rocks was quite awesome! My heart was in my throat and only let out a breath once you came back to the clearing.
My Dad was his Army escort on a tour of Australia and he said he was a really nice and gentle man who showed genuine interest in all around him I met Prince Edward once and he was great.
I've worked with the Royals on a few occasions as part of the Military and bumped into Anne on a walk. I've never had a negative experience with any of them. Politics aside, they're genuinely lovely people who have a love their countrymen.
Our son met Princess Anne when he was in the army and said she was so lovely and down to earth . Tbh I think the majority of us Brits have a lot in common with the Royals . Outdoors , family values and manners , just to name a few .
Also this interaction must be so unique, most times people meet or interact with a king / queen it’ll be a formal setting with twenty people watching. Just to bump into him is hilarious.
The settings are nearly always formal and "sanitised", and the people the royals are introduced to are usually cherry-picked. This was great, a chat with a random stranger who happens to be our head of state.
There was a story told by an associate of the late Queen, he was out walking with her, in a similar scenario to this, and they bumped into some American tourists. They didn't recognise the Queen, but they mentioned that they heard the Royals go walking here and how fantastic it would be to meet one. The Queen pointed to the person she was with and said, "he knows the Royals, in fact he's good friends with the Queen", so the tourists wanted to have a photo with the friend, after they took it, the Queens friend suggested a photo with everyone in it. And then they parted ways. They had no idea they just met the Queen, maybe one day someone else saw the photo and pointed it out to them.
@@charlieparkeris I heard of the story too, it's literally a Royal prank! It's of course making a bit of fun of the tourists knowing about the Queen but not recognizing her, at the same time, it made the encounter mostly unique for them. The story goes that they made the Queen take a picture of them with him. Then he insisted they should include his "friend" in the next picture. So as far they knew, that was a picture of them with a friend of the Queen, plus the friend of the friend of the Queen. None of which is technically false.
Queenie used to meet folks out and about on the same estate over the years, although latterly she always had someone with her. Family friends of mine met her there, they did recognise her and they had a nice wee chat. The locals at Balmoral are very protective of the family apparently, and they really can just wander about, go into the local shops etc, and folks are pleased to see them but never bothersome. Must be nice to have somewhere they can enjoy that kind of freedom.
i cant imagine going out on a gloomy, rainy day in the middle of what seems like nowhere, and just casually meets the king like its any other day. Mustve been quite the experience!
The Royals are there to serve the UK. Wherever they go, they bring a huge spotlight that shines on ordinary citizens doing great things. Yes, it could be as simple as making a great whisky. Or as big as promoting a movie made in the UK. James Bond, Mission Impossible...Also, the Royals shine the light on things that need a little oomph to improve the UK. Royals are not celebrities. Celebrities shine the spotlight on themselves, Royals use their notoriety to serve the UK and its subjects, just like firemen, nurses, road builders, teachers, farmers, bus drivers and many others serve the UK. Princess Kate mostly dresses in clothes designed and made in the UK.
Exactly. Mctrail rider finally got international exposure for his boring bootube channel thanks to King Charles. Reading some of these mean spirted posts though…
Very insightful comment about the difference between celebrities and true public servants. At the end of the day, that's indeed what the RF are, public servants in spite of their titles and their personal wealth, and they work hard for their country and its people, serving with dignity, grace, and genuine concern for the land and the state and that the UK endures.

He was always interested in that kind of stuff. To be honest, he's a bit of a 'hippie' in that regard.
Charles has always been an amazing advocate for the environment and humanity in general. A lot of fuss was always made about Diana's charity work but Charles has always done the same thing.
And those shelters they were staying in, he said "we renovated them" which was an interesting detail after they had already been declared a nice set up earlier in the video. This reinforces my view of Charles. I think he mellowed greatly from the 80s until now and Camilla probably helped with that process. She is naturally warm, funny and open. The year the Duke of Edinburgh died, I felt compelled to send the Queen a card and received a beautiful card in response. That year I sent a Christmas card as well, which ended up being her final Christmas and received a very warm, handwritten card from one of her ladies in waiting. So happy, I made the effort.
My daughter sent a rather silly letter when she was 8 or 9 and we got a response- I was shocked . She was going through a brief shoe maker stage, her dream job and she thought Queen Elizabeth might appreciate her shoe designs and needed her shoe size. The Queen's shoes were handmade, the reply let her know lol

I couldn’t have done that at 1/4 the speed and if I did I’d probably have hit every one of those large boulders, well at least the first and maybe the second one! 🤣 Ok, meeting the king was pretty cool too!
Its not everyday you head out into the mountains and casually bump into "The King". And to have a conversation with him. Top class. Another cracking video!
My dad met the queen once when working on Windsor castle grounds sorting a refuse collection issue out. It was raining and he was having a crappy day. This lady walks past behind him and says good morning, and without looking, he replies, "is it, doesn't look so good to me". Apparently she found it rather amusing and giggled, which made him look up and notice who it was and suddenly got all flustered and apologetic. She was supposedly very down to earth and told him not to worry, and she hoped his day got better. Another worker was asked to bring him a cup of tea a few minutes later 🙂.

The Royals genuinely love Balmoral as it is the closest they get to being normal - they can walk, her late Majesty used to drive herself around... so it was lovely that Charles took time to talk with folk similarly enjoying the fresh air.
Exactly! 👍

A human being that is plotting with evil people to take away our freedoms and make us live under one communist world state.

King of the United Kingdom. Please don’t forget our Welsh, Irish and Scottish neighbours ❤ and the commonwealth.

My Dad was his Army escort on a tour of Australia and he said he was a really nice and gentle man who showed genuine interest in all around him
I met Prince Edward once and he was great.
I've worked with the Royals on a few occasions as part of the Military and bumped into Anne on a walk. I've never had a negative experience with any of them. Politics aside, they're genuinely lovely people who have a love their countrymen.
Anne particularly seems to be very highly respected in the Forces especially the Royal Navy.
Anne is lovely. I've never met anyone who's met her and not thought that.
Our son met Princess Anne when he was in the army and said she was so lovely and down to earth . Tbh I think the majority of us Brits have a lot in common with the Royals . Outdoors , family values and manners , just to name a few .
youd be lovely too if you were given billions by the people
Also this interaction must be so unique, most times people meet or interact with a king / queen it’ll be a formal setting with twenty people watching. Just to bump into him is hilarious.
The settings are nearly always formal and "sanitised", and the people the royals are introduced to are usually cherry-picked. This was great, a chat with a random stranger who happens to be our head of state.
@@geoffpoole483 I think he is far more comfortable on occasions like this than formal state stuff. And at least he didn't have to find a pen.
Thought this was clickbait… but nope he just takes casual walks. That seemed like a lovely meeting!
