18:31 - You came for the meltdown but this is about professionalism of content creators and the game Hunt Showdown. To feel the full impact of the documentary, you need to watch it from beginning to end before you make comment.
The impetus behind this video was not clout chasing, but to shed light on multiple incidents of a millionaire content creator maligning the reputation of a video game. Anyone can give a product a bad review or a bad subjective take on a piece of art, however, this incident goes much deeper than bad takes. It's deeply rooted in insecurity and instead of taking an L, Summit1g decided to trash Crytek's product that they have been passionately developing as a live service for years.
    Thank you for watching.

@@deazy513x It definitely doesn't apply to all of us lol. It happens to a lot of people sure, but most people can see when a game has something going for it even if it's not for them. The issue with him is he's not only shitting on it, he's not only shitting on people who enjoy it, but he's doing it REPEATEDLY. Normal people don't sit on a game they don't like just to "Get their money's worth and show everyone how shit it is", his complaints are literally just him crying about not knowing the mechanics and refusing to give up on it when it's clearly not for him. I don't love the game, I only enjoy it with friends (and even they can get annoying when all they do is cry that 5-6 stars are just "Sweats" any time they make a mistake), but just shitting on people for liking it and then doing it over and over when you should just give up is crazy. Someone telling you that the sky isn't blue isn't an issue, it could be that way for them for a multitude of reasons, but yelling and constantly bitching every 30 minutes that it's not blue when no one said anything to them about it would piss anyone off.

If people who watched summit, agreed with him then they are exactly the type of people that would disrupt the community and demand changes that would be terrible for the game, potentially destroying it's identity. Birds of feather flock together, the type of people he attracts mostly likes his approach and shares it. I don't say that they are not welcome, but ultimately if they have similar negative outlook then no good will come with them to the game, while if they disagree they might look into the game regardless of his opinion, but I find it hard to share enjoyment with people who cheer for downfall of someone's life's work.

hunt for me (besides shoddy matchmaking in oceania) is only as hard as you make it, you take higher skill weapons like the sparks, then you need higher skill to use them effectively, rock a good ol' winfield, romero, bow etc and you make the game easier for yourself within their effective ranges. the fact he never swapped to gear that suits his level of experience and always stayed on a gun that actively worked against his playstyle just shows to me how little he cared for actually trying to enjoy the game.
i'm a big old scout and awp man, i rocked the guns that worked well with the same playstyle when i started, bow, nitro, romero, crossbow, guns that all onetap at close range which made my awp aiming a transferable skill. maybe no one told him to swap off but with so many hunt players watching and devs even i'm very doubtlful

Summit bothered me so much because in Sea of Thieves there was a time where he was arguably the biggest streamer. He had a LOT of influence in the community during a time the game was fairly dead. There was a lack of content and the whole internet was trashing SoT for being unfinished alpha game, not undeserved but I still enjoyed the game and saw potential. An issue that has always been controversial is something called "double gunning" where you animation cancel to fire two shots at once and basically one shot people in a game without headshots. It was kind of a cheesy exploit in my opinion but the hardcore community got very used to it because there was just nothing else to do in the game or focus on tbh. Anyway, the devs removed it by forcing pirates to run sword and gun, no more gun and gun. Summit cried and moaned and said the game was terrible and demanded it be changed back, he had enough power it really hurt the game at the time. The devs eventually caved and brought it back and honestly.... I feel the game is worse for it and always has been. I don't enjoy the new content or the game as a whole because of this one mechanic. I'm not hating on people who use it or try to master it but I just felt like it ruined a lot of what the game was. The pirate fantasy was thrown out the window to make it some silly paintball game. I really wish they had let us keep sword+gun and just added headshots if they wanted to make aim skill be more of a thing. Anyway, sort of a long rant but I lost respect for summit doing that and basically holding the game's community hostage saying "I won't play this terrible game until you bring back the only thing *I* like" - Honestly if the hunt showdown devs tell him to shove off good for them. Summit is just a crybaby in my eyes.

@@ahairylobster8524 Don't get me wrong it's a lot of fun if you're into this style of game and there's still a lot of good to experience there.. I just think the very top end of the meta is a bit frustrating like your earlier comment stated. I played with a crew who weren't FPS gods and while I could animation cancel and aim just fine, they could not and when the game was about swordplay they enjoyed it much more. They learned to use their tactics and movement, blocking and hopping until they were also hitting some crazy pistol flick shots surprising themselves. Though they all felt it was unfair and unfun to engage with double gunning spawncamping crews. The exploits ranged from silent boarding, holding block as you get on ladder to just swiping at spots for a hit confirm sound to be ready for where people spawn to instant kill them. The game is cool but when you optimize the fun out of it, it becomes a little toxic to say the least.

    • @ltsalt-zr1iq
      @ltsalt-zr1iq 6 месяцев назад +2

The sword has never been forced though and I don't remember it happening like that at all, It is obviously possible that I just missed it, not playing for a bit. But I have been playing the game on and off since week 1 and was pretty deep in the whole doublegunning tdm stuff. I remember the progression as essentially this:
      - When the game launched you could instantly doublegun without any animation cancelling just by switching guns, it was during this meta summit played a lot and got big in the game.
      - To nerf this, the devs added a delay when swapping guns, this delay though felt extremely clunky, because it would play literally every time the gun was brought up, which happens literally every time you move around. So this nerf also affected people who weren't doublegunning. Many people complained, including summit.
      - The devs changed the delay so that it would only play the first time you bring the gun out and not after sprinting/moving around. This created the animation cancelling that you are referencing in your comment, where it was possible to cancel the delay by quickly sprinting in between gun swapping, making it possible to shoot 2 shots instantly again.
      - About 1.5 years ago they nerfed it again by hardcoding the delay to happen after you shoot a bullet, making it impossible to circumvent, it is now literally not possible to shoot 2 shots instantly like you used to (unless you have cheats). During this you could still kind of sprint cancel though, it just wasn't as fast as it used to be.
      - They then nerfed it even further, making sprint cancelling not possible at all, which is the current state of the game, there is no way to circumvent the delay in any way without cheats.
If you have any evidence of sword ever being forced(I'm 99% sure it wasn't) I would legitimately like to see it, as I said I have played SoT on and off since it came out, and was watching a lot of summit back then and I have literally never heard about it.

if tarkov is a shell then what the hell is hunt? this game has fallen into the actual depths of hell. years of no content, barely different events throughout the year, they added heavy rain at least and a boat load of skins every second week to buy. tarkov went to shit with monetisation recently but at least the game adds content. talk about playerbase too, sheesh hunt has lost half its playerbase in the last 2 months and has only been bleeding players.
this game was good once upon a time. it has had severe balance issues for a long time and still has severe balance issues but the biggest issue is that the game truly has no purpose. kill the lobby and thats the game, nothing special. nothing different. the same thing every game where the only variance is how many people die in the first 4 minutes.
tarkov was good once upon a time too. that game is in a better state now than it has ever been in the past. ever.
one of these games is run by a dev team that is at least trying to push the life of their game.

@@kregman6928 Uhhh... Hunt constantly adds new guns, and experiments with new and event perks and adds new weather constantly. We recently got a new boss, and a new map has been teased since before your comment. DeSalle came out in the last 2 years as well. Hunt definitely gets tons of new content outside of dlc and cosmetics. I don't know what you've been doing or seeing, but you're so wrong it's not even funny. And hunt lost it's playerbase rn because no new event and people are gathering excitement for the engine update that's coming in a month or so.
Tarkov mostly just gets guns and various balance tweaks, and poorly optimized maps once in a blue moon. The mp7 is still the strongest meta gun, and that hasn't changed in years.
Honestly, what are you yapping about? It's about as far removed from reality as it gets.
EDIT - also you're saying the "loop" of hunt is boring and bland, but it's not like Tarkov's is any better. You go in, kill the lobby, that's the game - from then on you watch for scavs and loot, if you're even gonna loot. Many people just go in for pvp once they're rich enough. You really don't have a point to make, do ya?

@@stankobarabata2406 it took hunt multiple years to add a bad map to their game. it took them multiple years to add a bad boss to their game. it took them multiple years to introduce weather that everyone hated and still does hate. the only good thing about the weather is that it makes games more interesting for the first time you experience it then the game goes straight back to being the same exact cycle over and over.
the new map might be good, hopefully its better than that last hunk of junk they added. hopefully the new boss is better than scrapbeak and isnt irrelevant to gameplay like the alligator is.
you literally strengthen my point about how the game is bleeding players. all they had to do was introduce a new map earlier or an actual event instead of collect cockroaches and punch scarecrows for the 8th time in a row. a different gamemode to keep the loop interesting. literally anything other than what the devs did, which was nothing. for multiple years. they did literally nothing to attract new players or to keep a large playerbase for years. the only people still playing this game are people that find tarkov too stressful and die hard fans. which isnt a bad thing on its own but the devs needed to do more to keep players coming back.
they changed ammo and stuff which was interesting until you realise you use the one absolutely busted thing or its just irrelevant completely. same thing as the perks. just get the self revive and everything else doesnt matter anyways. I havent played in a few months so maybe they added more perks but perks and guns dont bring people back to the game or keep people playing the game.
tarkov is very clear with content addition and do it consistently throughout the year. tarkov in the last year has added more content than hunt has added in the last 3 years. which is why people keep coming back to tarkov. the gameplay loop alone keeps people interested in the game and there is so much you can do within that gameplay loop that your content will last for literal years if youre into that kind of thing. the quests alone keep people coming back. hunt has no such thing in the game, weekly challenges sure, kill armoured dude 10 times for the 84th week in a row. the game lacks anything in its core loop that can keep peoples attention.
the ai is irrelevant to the game, bosses only exist as a hotspot for pvp and thats the game. go in, kill 8 people, go out. that is all the game has. you can say that is all tarkov has but thats just blatantly dishonest.

    • @stankobarabata2406
      @stankobarabata2406 2 месяца назад

@@kregman6928 it didn't really take them years to add a new map. Hunt only ever started picking up once events became a thing, before that yea the game was pretty obscure. But saying "it took them years" when 1. it didn't take that much, as I said Tarkov took twice as long to add a single new thing that wasn't a piece of gear or another bland one shot boss that's no different to code than a Scav and 2. Their dev team is pretty small. Like, in the tens, not even twenties of people I think. It's normal they can't churn out content like it's fortnite or PuBG.
And again, the game has more players than it ever had recently, you're again thinking about player bleeding and I keep telling you - that is because people play on events, and there hasn't been an event for over a month BECAUSE THEY ARE WORKING ON THE ENGINE UPDATE. And again, you're saying multiple years, but they're constantly adding guns and effects, and working on bosses/maps meanwhile and keeping us up to date, and now the engine update. In comparison Tarkov barely got a new map a year ago, and it was unoptimized for several months. With a studio that's prolly several times bigger than Crytek's Hunt division.
And clearly guns and stuff keep people in the game, because Hunt's playerbase has only been growing in numbers despite dips in between events. Used to be this game had barely 5k people in it back in the day. Empty lobbies everywhere to the point where you were playing a pve game half the time because there's not a single other team on the map. Now it's peaking anywhere between 20k to 40k players on event times, especially on hyped stuff.
The game has problems. I am one of the more pessimistic people about it, in truth, my friends are much more fanatical towards it than I am. Desync used to drive me insane, I hate many guns' sights (hence why I primarily use the Drilling because it's got nice clear sights), I hate certain people's dumb playstyles that Crytek encourages and praises like trappers and bushcampers. I hate many balance things - including the ammo you mentioned, I hate how special ammo are basically required to play the game now unless it's long ammo guns.. I dunno what you hate about Desalle though, mind elaborating on that? I'm just curious.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I'm calling you out because you're blatantly spouting half-truths and straight up lies. I dunno why you're doing that though.

As someone who find (solo) necro problematic in a lot of ways, there is clearly a reluctancy from sumsum to take in and adapt to new information.
Best way I explain the burn body meta is that (vs. teams) when a body goes down, that becomes the the control point of the fight.
You want to contest the body by burning or reviving/choking it and the current event that gives everyone the ability revive burned out Hunters, shows how important the perma-death from burning is, as right now most fights play out with the last teammate running away and waiting to come back to red-skull revive his burned team-mates.
That said, while the new tutorial did some good, there NEEDS to be an more in-depth, in-game tutorial about revives and necro.
Even if it is just "Hey you completed the two tutorials, here is a short 3 min video about the difference between solo and team play".
I've played the game since early access and ever since the introduction of solo necro I've seen a spike of discord/reddit posts from new players asking about "how did this guy come back up after I killed him? I thought this was a perma-death game" and to be expected, when you explain about necro, they usually go "well that is kinda bs!".
Because one of the first thing people know about hunt is "you go down, you are out".

Feel a bit bad for him running into one of the most toxic groups in the game at his skill level, no chance at competing there with the no-lifers really with where he's at. He doesn't understand the game to the point where he can really criticize the more nuanced flaws of the game, so while I still find his lack of professionalism wrong, I can somewhat empathize with his frustrations. For reference, I'm sitting at around 3k hours, so I do have an inkling of what I'm talking about in regards to the games flaws--- overly simplistic MMR system, poor/inadequate in-game moderation of behavior and cheating, a particular proneness of the game to exploits and their prevalence (configs, 3rd party software, various de-rendering exploits, the new no platform account, along with some balancing issues.) I've replicated several of these exploits easily. Ethically so, mind you. I make sure to get no kills and conc bomb myself immediately after replicating to get footage to show to crytek privately, and never share how to do them. I've also been in discord channels/servers with some of the less-than-honest clans, so I can verify that many members of said clans do regularly abuse exploits and various 3rd party software, along other unfair advantages to manipulate the game--- although they generally fall just short of straight-up 3rd party hacks, or at least they don't openly brag about them as much and try to conceal them. I'm rarely one to call hacks, but I do know the game well enough to know them when I see them, particularly in the time I've spent studying cheaters through spectating, the aforementioned discord servers, and heart-to-heart discussions with former members of various clan-members of hunt (although some clans are very strictly against cheating, and arguably enforce those standards better than crytek itself.) I'd be happy to share clips and recordings I've gathered anytime if you'd like to use them, pretty much unconditionally, if you'd like to discuss the matter in a video. I know I can put that downed solo between myself and the incoming enemy and pit them against one another. So often I have a chance to take a shot, but I whisper to myself “go fourth my minions, sew chaos so I may ascend upon the ladder it creates”. I also know that these units I have set upon my enemy are volatile and I often must put them down myself after leveraging them. Some people just don’t have the brain for it, they just want PURE twitch hand eye skill. That’s fine if that’s what you like but don’t disparage a game because it’s more strategy oriented.

Other than that, Hunt is genuinely one of the best FPS games on the market purely from hitbox, servers/hit registration and the absolute BEST audio in an FPS game to-date, all three being things almost every other big name FPS gets wrong.
I really can't think of things I dislike about Hunt Showdown, there are things that annoy me, but the core game is just so well polished compared to something like Apex Legends, obviously not the best comparison but the audio, servers/hit reg and hitboxes in that game are ABYSMAL in comparison, and I'm someone who absolutely loves Apex.

He's not actually super wrong about the game not being super complicated. It's just unique, and has unique things to learn in order to well. If he just put in the time to learn, I'm confident he'd be pretty good actually, but he didn't and probably just because he didn't really like the game much to start. It probably wasn't something that interested him and that's why he didn't give it a fair shake. That and a tremendous ego, but yeah. Honestly, it would've been fine if he just admitted that he didn't understand the game and didn't care for it enough to want to learn how to play better. That's all.

Note his remark about not being able to remember all the game mechanics. He's no longer a kid who is capable of following teacher instructions about how to learn and perform tasks. As an adult, he needs to sit down and systematically study in order to avoid being frustrated. But without researching and studying ahead of time, he simply wasted those two days of gameplay, rather than give himself the fundamentals to really enjoy the game experience.

I would argue that most games aren’t complicated at all.
It’s the way different mechanics interact with eachother and keeping up with it all as shit hits the fan. That goes for every FPS in existence.
But saying it’s not a complicated game while being actively fucked by other players really puts in perspective that maybe he should shut his mouth and learn. He clearly doesn’t have the game figured out.

My only problem with Hunt is that it feels overtuned on the amount of AI and sound traps, sometimes to a degree it feels like the main star of a match, I've been on either end of that a lot of times actually (my stealthy approach being ruined by a nearby grunt, a enemy team trying to run away then getting third partied by hellhounds themselves, locations I NEED to get to but are completely surrounded by crows and/or 3 Hives, and so on).
If Crytek could just tone it down a bit, Hunt would be GOLDEN in my eyes.

Hunt Showdown is an amazing game, I understand that I am also bias towards the game as it has been my main game since I got into the last close alpha test before steam early access. It's also not a game for everyone as I have had most of my friends on steam try the game and less than half of them still play it or stayed with it to really learn and enjoy the game. The game has a lot of moving parts and getting use to Hunt's game play is a huge learning curve. Heck just navigating the UI menu is hard enough on it's own let alone learning how to deal with players and the game's AI. But it very fun and rewarding if you can take the time to learn and start to see improvement in your play. I have little over 3k hours clocked since starting the game nearly 6 years ago.

I've got 2k hours on this game and i will without a doubt say the while the game design might be nice and the game itself was nice, the devs are making terrible decisions and the state of the game is terrible, they couldnt even patch a butcher melee bug for years, and then in the end said that it wasnt a bug, and later on fixed it(makes no sense, they just proved us right), also where is the context to the clip at 5 minutes, its just cut out, i can get a lot of out of context's clips of anyone while they're streaming and make them look bad, , just like ppl did with Andrew Tate, "burning and necro make the game less campi" ?, unless ur in like 4* elo every match u queue into, ppl will and do stand above the body with a shotgun waiting for it to be revived, or just sit in a corner closest to an entrance and camp there with a shotgun, we must have played a different game cos im yet to experience a " less campi" hunt showdown experience, although i definitely agree with ur takes on Summit, bro took it way to far all bcs he sucks at the game, u cannot say "this game isnt as hard as u think it is" and then proceed to get destroyed every match, why isnt my guy wiping lobby's then, but instead complaining 24/7 and not understanding that u cant play this game how u like, bro has 6hours in the game and expects to be as good at it as he is in tarkov, while in that game he has over thousands of hours, should of rolled clips of his first few hours on tarkov lmao, i mean tarkov is superior to hunt showdown, there is no discussion there(if ur speaking numbers), all in all i somewhat agree with ur takes on summit and the game hunt showdown, but i've been trough ups and downs of hunt showdown and the bs of it and devs not listening to a single thing we tell them that is wrong and never patching things that are broken and or bugs for years on, but i've stopped to play the game since i stopped liking it and the changes that were coming in and out werent to my liking, now instead i play ranger solo in GC and have a wonderful time(not really), good video though.

I've been working on creating a cozy place for myself in Hunt Showdown. And I will be honest, THE AVERAGE PLAYER IS STILL BETTER THAN ME. And that's okay. This is due to me not having a working knowledge of few a things and the game having a lot of nuance that is necessary to understanding and finetuning your skill. One would hope that a video like this might actually make a difference in how streamers view professionalism in their own careers. I think you made some fair points, and I share your love for this game, but I think that there are serious issues in the Hunt community that are almost never properly addressed.
I would say the biggest issue in Hunt Showdown currently is the plague of racist and toxic [KKK]lans in the 5-6 star range of the game. Depending on how long you've been around, you are probably aware of them yourself. These Klans pride themselves on doing their absolute best at making the game a miserable and unsportsmanlike experience for others. Every time I play this game I am guaranteed to run into the same groups of players who use exploits and straight up cheats, who never miss an opportunity to use racial slurs and bigotry. You might not realize that in this very video you clipped summit getting stream sniped by one of said Klans, as this is pretty common behavior for them (They proudly do this and upload proof to discord and their youtube). At 20:15 this is a member of one of the hate Klans who is exploiting a feature of the game to artificially lower his rank and get placed in lobbies where he can abuse players of lower skill levels, in this case to snipe summits MMR range of matches. I wish Crytek would actually do something about these kinds of people in the community, but despite uploading countless recordings of these guys being toxic, racist and just crapping all over the community guidelines in general, they have been playing unrestricted for years. I don't know if a documentary about these Klans would lead to proper change, but its something I wouldn't mind helping with if its a project you were willing to try.
In any case, I appreciate the content! Keep it up!

Have a few issues with this video:
    Professional;
"A professional gamer plays video games full time and competes in tournaments in order to win prizes. Pro gamers are also paid by sponsors or advertisers when they play, and sometimes they're part of a team of players where they earn money as well"
Summit WAS a professional gamer, he just streams playing games he wants to play now, this is NOT the same thing. If he was acting this way when he was a professional gamer then this would be a air argument but his not. His been spammed day in day out with messages "Play Hunt, Play Hunt, Play Hunt! contaminating his expectations. Do we really hold any other streamer to this unrealistic colloquial use of the word "professional"?
Also at 14:23 you said Summit is at fault for playing it like Halo but at the start of the video you said you play it like a deathmatch? Like is the only dfference here, that you dont outwardly complain about it?
25:07 This is pretty odd that you chose the one stream were he was playing with the RatofTarkov who has an entire channel dedicated to running the rattiest spots on all maps, this was the one stream he wanted to show Summit the places he camps at. There are thousands of streams of Summit playing Tarkov at a pretty high level but you specfically chose this one, seems very odd to me.
I also remember you doing a video very similar in tone to Summits reaction in Tarkov where you constantly complained about loosing your gear and the games mechanics, which i find comparative to the issues you have with Summit, could you explain how this is different?
I think the rest of the video is very good.

Like me, personally I stay away from multiplayer fighting games cause I get stomped on and tilted really badly and can never get a hang of the more complex mechanics and movesets. That is a me issue, not an issue with the fighting game genre. He uninstalled then reinstalled, I'm happy smite is getting new eyes on it but I'm worried he`s going to run into something he doesn't like then complain. For games like smite and hunt it will take a lot of time to get better and I don't think he has it in him to practice 200+ hours and investigate the games via RUclips or twitch to learn more. A big reason why SOT was fun for him was because he got to mess with people who didnt know any better and who had 0 mechanical skill. Basically beating up newbies for fun, he`s coming to the realization he cant do this with hunt or smite. Given time I wonder how many games he will try to jump on that will give him the same feeling as early SOT.
