I was in Ottawa in september 1982. Id heard Nove Heart and found out Spoons were playing a club in downtown Ottawa. We went, they were brilliant. We were on holiday from Britain and Simple Minds were playing the following week, sadly we were leaving before then. I cant remember the name of the club sadly.
Love this sound. Hadn't heard it in over 25 years. Sounds like the first time I ever heard this. I so miss tge 80's. An Infantryman at the time. My take in this song is probably a bit bizarre. Sleep in your Nova Heart......as when someone launches a nuclear missile.
When i was young the best New Wave music sounded like it was coming from the future to me, 40 plus years later it still sound like the future to me and everything since feels like s step backwards.
Not many groups can say, hey, we should do a video with a beautiful model on a bed being mysterious, so they just get their bass player (because that is their bass player Sandi Horne starring in this video by the way)
Very true. I cannot think of a prettier bass player ever. In Gordon Deppe's book, he talked about the band's early days. And how the guys in the crowds were a lot less rowdy/violent after Sandi joined the band. ☮
Great song, imo. And I find the lyrics very thought-provoking. And on a superficial note: Best-looking bass player on a Top 40 band in history - at least, that I recall ever seeing. ☮
So young... I think Sandy and Gordon were dating at the time and only in their early 20s. And Rob preuss just graduated high school... Where did the time go?
I always think of this song when I look at my salt lamp.
Freaking 80s. Synth pop, gotta love it.
This will always be beautiful. The transition to the chorus just has such a freeing feeling, such great movement.
Well said.
☮
OMG! Blast from the past. Great group, I can't believe how many years its been.....
And how far we have fallen

Loved the Spoons..purchased this album thru the amazing Columbia record and tape club..and I may or may not have had a crush on Sandy Horne 😍
EVERY guy had a crush on Sandy!!!!!!!
The wonderful sound of the Roland TR-808 drums and the Roland Jupiter-4 analog synthesizer..
And Strats drenched in Fender Chorus amp!
Was a wonderful time to be alive.
So true!
Brings back my 20s in San Francisco during the 1980s. What a time. Thank you for putting on yt.
Me too. This song got a lot of airplay in the Bay Area back in '82 along with all the other New Wave music.

Yes.... this is just beautiful, and it was like a vision from another world when it came out
Canadian and British bands dominated the 80s new wave music scene.
Now Canada is rap and fatass hard rock.

WOW. Thanks for that. How awesome is that!!!

Thanks for doing this. It really was long overdue.
The future is all the past.

Sandy Horne still does look drop-dead gorgeous and plays terrific!
I had a massive crush on Sandy Horne, and the fact that she lived in my city was the icing on the cake, we could meet and fall in love....lol
I think most young lads like us had the same feelings. :)
1982 was the best.....seems like a longvlost dream now.... ... ....
.
Thanks for this.
So long ago I fell in love when I saw her slappin that bass
Sandy is the koolest.
WHY does this sound more modern than 2024?
Great song😊
0:59 - Ah the 80's, when the height of video special effects was to film your subject though a balloon.
More inventive and imaginative than anything today. Today, we are balloons.
What a wonderful song be cool to see a vid with some beautiful girls dancing to it
So young... I think Sandy and Gordon were dating at the time and only in their early 20s. And Rob preuss just graduated high school... Where did the time go?
We were young and full of hope and innocence back then too…
