I was a freshman in high school when this song came out. The image of the band was so quirky back then...it was easy to miss the legitimate musical talent they had.
I'm not a young Australian man these days but I Loved this much underplayed and therefore largely unknown Classic... This was Madonna's First Band... She had a Wonderful bunch of talent around to encourage and nurture the Superstar that she deservedly became.🎉🎉🎉
In February 1987 I was in a dance club in Venice, Italy with some Army friends when I first heard this. The Italian girls on the dance floor were literally screaming to it. Man, what a memory. What a great song.

@@martinkuliza I was 3 years old, in 1987 - well, from late August 1987, onward. I just barely remember Reagan being president, then Bush and Clinton for sure. Most of the music I remember once my memories got stronger, was grunge hitting the radio, and Nirvana, in like 1991 or so, then Kurt's death when I was 10. I do remember the 80s though, and my mom blasting Peter Gabriel, the Police, Prince, etc. Apparently, when I was in my crib, she was playing something like Sledgehammer, some danceable number and I wanted to be let out my crib really badly, lol. My Mom also met Prince, being in Minneapolis, dancing at the place that became First Avenue, which was featured in Purple Rain. She ended up dating his studio drummer for a time, and Prince ended up writing a song about her, based on a story she told him that he told Prince.
I was in Mother Goose Rock and Rythym back in 1989 I worked with lead singer Dan Gilroy of breakfast club. Seemed that after the downfall of the film he and the band vanished. It is sad.
I was 14 & living my 1st Spring in Durham NC when I 1st noticed this song. I saw this very music video once & mostly heard it on Top 40 radio & LOVED IT. This group lasted...too damn short. Who knows what else they could do if allowed to stick around a little longer. It wasn't until '96 I found a cassette of The Album & heard it's entirety...WOO HOO. I've never been afan of dance music, but I do like these guys. I remember watching this video with my sons on MTV back in the 80s. I've always wondered if the set that was used in this video was from Pee Wee's Playhouse. Can anyone weigh in on this.
