Several years back, when I lived in Mississauga, I discovered that Gord was going the be playing in a small pub for the Bread & Honey festival. Being a big Spoons fan since the 80s, I had to stay and perhaps have the chance to meet him.
Not only did I get my wish but I also had the great pleasure of hanging out with him as he joined us at our table between sets. He was a incredibly nice guy with no airs about him. A regular night for him I'm sure, but this fanboy had an an evening that will never be forgotten.

Finally got to see them last summer in Winnipeg, with a line up with A Flock of Seagulls, Men Without Hats & Glass Tiger! One of my all time fave bands! Got Sandy to wave at me from the stage! :)

I still have one of her Spector basses from the 80's, she sold it off after putting a bunch of miles on it, I bought it around 1990 or '91 from somebody out here on the East coast, it was a 1 of 3 custom NS2 that Stu Spector made for her. One of my favourite instruments to this day.

I saw The Spoons open for The Police in Toronto. ... They were a REALLY excellent band. ... too bad they packed it in so quickly

They never really "packed it in"... they just changed synth and drummers through the ages, but Gord and Sandy continued the band through successive albums even today.

They are still performing and put out a new album about 2 years ago! Saw them last summer in a line up with A Flock of Seagulls, Men Without Hats & Glass Tiger!
