I got 1 of these and lug it around all day at school, the weight isn't that bad. Absolutely amazing lappy, handles 3d modeling, physics and raytrace rendering like a champ.
Just got this recently, the large screen is worth it for its size and amount. 1080p screen as well. I only got it yesterday and yes is heavier than an average laptop but since I have got it yesterday, my lap has gotten used to it as long as you have something on like shorts, jeans, or something you will get used to it. And not in a way like it cuts off blood circulation its not that heavy just used to it like where you can actually use it on your lap without being bothered. The heavyness of the laptop you also get used to when picking it up and stuff, once you get accustomed to your model you know exactly how to carry it , all that good stuff you just basically get used to the actual laptop. Its great, and all this stuff is on the laptop for a reason. Its a great gaming machine with a very good cooling system. You won't be expecting any loud fan noises turning on and it will not overheat. So in the end its all worth it.

Crazy how something like that has aged now. At the time, this was a beast. 5-6 years later and you can get an equally if not slightly more powerful laptop for like 30% less money and half the weight and bulk.
I got a G751JM, with the i7 4720HQ, GTX965M, 24GB RAM, 1TB Primary (500GB Secondary) HDD, DVDRW (non BluRay), and I love the heck outta it, game on it everyday. Although mine has good bass, mine has 2 speakers in vents and a little subwoofer in bottom left by HDDs, love to see all the various options in these systems. Only thing I wanna do is upgrade the optical drive to BluRay.
I've had this laptop since release. I am the uni student dragging this fiend all around the campus. It's really not bad... Perfectly manageable for anyone that has even the tiniest bit of athletic background.

This is a great laptop for business use. You need to add RAM though. This is supposed to be a great gaming computer. I use it for video and audio editing as well as web design. This is AWESOME! It is a good size, but why invest in such a great computer to lug it around all the time. This is such a great laptop that I use it as my primary computer. I am sure ASUS did not intend to compete with the MacBook, but this is better and cheaper. I paid $1,400 for mine.
This laptop has a sub mounted underneath and it uses the frame to add "rumble" to the audio. A couple of adjustments will get the sound working better.
I had a tiny laugh when you bumped the cd tray. I've had this minor issue with every ASUS laptop I've ever had. It wouldn't be an ASUS if the tray button wasn't placed exactly where everyone picks it up.

April 2024 and bought one 2 yrs ago from a guy who couldn't figure it out for 500. This thing even in 2024 play every game I have and play Fortnite at 3840x2160 Rez and it plays 60 FPS with tone down settings perfect. For $500 bucks best PC I didn't build myself I have ever owned.

This laptop has the best mobile graphic card out there. In terms of graphical processing power, it should have no problem running those games. The CPU is also decent which should not be a problem. However, the price is still rather high. You might not need such a good laptop to run those games. You can consider the models with GTX 950m or GTX 960m graphic cards. GTX 970m is also good if you really want a better graphic card.

nice video. for anyone wondering, I have the lower version that has the touch screen and a gtx 965. came with 8 gig ram and a 1 tb 5400 rpm hd. for 1400 not to bad. I got a 8 gig ram stick plus I bought a 256 gig ssd drive plus a 2 TB 7200 rpm external so about 1600 and you get all that. I kept the os on the 5400 rpm for now and it boots up pretty fast. maybe 20 seconds at most. being the ssd is small I rather the games on that. especially today were games can easily take up 20+gigs a game. I put on a few games and already used up just over half of the HD space. this model at least mine though, seems to vent from the bottom. maybe from the top as well I don't know. so I would suggest a cooling pad. I have some videos posted playing a couple games, bo2, AW, and cod4 so far.
oh gawd, this thing really is a fingerprint/oil magnet. Though I'm an adult my face gets oily as a teenagers and i'm sure if I were to get this my finger prints would be visible everywhere.

How long have you had the laptop? Have you tried cleaning out the fans? Do you have an optimus enabled g751 and you're using the integrated gpu? Have you tried updating your graphics drivers?
Abhishek Satish I Restored the computer to a couple hours before (when it first arrived) and it seems to be working fine now im not sure what was causing it though.
It could very well have been the "nVidia battery boost" in the Geforce Experience center. That limits the performance to conserve battery. It is also true, that the laptop cannot perform to it's full, running only from the battery. Optimus is not supported by the G751.

In response to the others who comments, yes if your going to be carrying this around, always carry it with a bagpack. Never try carry it with your hands around because in any case you do drop it remember the bigger they are the harder they fall.... And for such a expensive laptop you don't want to break it!
They completely ruined this laptop by making the battery non user replaceable. I bought one of these about 7 months ago. Now the battery has died and I have to send the whole laptop in to fix a simple issue. After I get it back this laptop will be sold and I will build my own desktop now. I think all companies are doing this now.I refuse to support a laptop with non removable battery.Sad I really did like Asus until they pulled this crap.

Anyone connect multi-monitors to this notebook? I bought 2 and when connecting 2 external monitors, the thunderbolt port caused blue screening when connecting a mini-display port to an external monitor. Having bought 2, the thunderbolt port on both would blue screen the computer when connecting an external monitor via a mini-display port to it. Asus tech support was useless, and kept confusing the issue with my comparison notebook model: the Asus N550JK -- which has no issues at all connecting 2 external monitors via the HDMI and mini-display port it possesses. Thus, I do not know if I had the bad luck of having 2 units that both had thunderbolt ports that froze the computer upon connecting external monitors, which is why I am asking if anyone else encountered a similar problem?
ASUS has really really got to stop using that matte pseudo rubberized finish! I have a G750 and the horrible magnetism to oil and fingerprints has really gotten on my nerves. It reflects badly on you when people see how filthy looking your laptop is. I also use mine for work and I've been embarrassed to use it for presentations and conference calls because it just screams "this guy's a slob" because of all the fingerprints. No matter how diligent you are at cleaning it, it will get prints.
Yea. Only difference is, you can wipe the grime off of most plastic or aluminum cases, even some rubber. For some reason, the pseudo rubber used by ASUS is highly resistant to cleaning and very prone to scratching.
Matt there are a few ways. basically its usually with graphics. you can either upgrade the graphics card, or turn down graphics settings. as well as lower the resolution that the game is running.

You can get a 970m laptop for 2kg or less. For me it is not worth it having a better gpu for 3kg of weight.

Hi guys is it worth to get the 8gb ram, no ssd version of this gaming laptop. I am kinda low on budget and this one has the best price (1700$) I love playing games but not hardcore. Playing games like witcher 3, falout 4 etc. would be great!
Anyone connect multi-monitors to this notebook? I bought 2 and when connecting 2 external monitors, the thunderbolt port caused blue screening when connecting a mini-display port to an external monitor. Having bought 2, the thunderbolt port on both would blue screen the computer when connecting an external monitor via a mini-display port to it.
Asus tech support was useless, and kept confusing the issue with my comparison notebook model: the Asus N550JK -- which has no issues at all connecting 2 external monitors via the HDMI and mini-display port it possesses.
Thus, I do not know if I had the bad luck of having 2 units that both had thunderbolt ports that froze the computer upon connecting external monitors, which is why I am asking if anyone else encountered a similar problem?

ASUS has really really got to stop using that matte pseudo rubberized finish! I have a G750 and the horrible magnetism to oil and fingerprints has really gotten on my nerves.
It reflects badly on you when people see how filthy looking your laptop is. I also use mine for work and I've been embarrassed to use it for presentations and conference calls because it just screams "this guy's a slob" because of all the fingerprints. No matter how diligent you are at cleaning it, it will get prints.
Yea. Only difference is, you can wipe the grime off of most plastic or aluminum cases, even some rubber. For some reason, the pseudo rubber used by ASUS is highly resistant to cleaning and very prone to scratching.

Depends, most likey the graphics card, nothing to do with ram unless you have like 4gb
Matt there are a few ways. basically its usually with graphics. you can either upgrade the graphics card, or turn down graphics settings. as well as lower the resolution that the game is running.

Can anyone recommend a good starter laptop for a console gamer? I own a PS4 and I play mainstream games such as COD, Fallout 4, Overwatch etc. I think the quality on the PS4 is just fine and I was hoping this laptop would be an upgrade or just a good starting laptop.
Micropela hmm. look at a gtx 1060 laptop. 15 inch or 17 inch is up to u. gtx 980 and 970 laptops are okay but the difference between there desktop versions are just too big tbh.
