2023 here, I'm still using this laptop everyday for hours on end, even typing this comment on it. With regular annual maintenance and ram and SSHD upgrade, this thing is still a beast! It's never failed me (It'll explode tomorrow now I'm sure!) It might not play the newest triple A titles at max settings, but it sure does a great job for everything I use it for. I've traveled all around the world with it, which brings up it's only true downfall... It's HEAVY!!!! The power supple is even crazy huge and heavy. I had a hard time finding a back pack that it could fit in and still meet with TSA requirements. This thing is so heavy and cumbersome that I really can't fit much else in the pack when it's in there, other than a couple days worth of clothes and the bare essentials. Even with that, it's like carrying a dead body on your back haha I still love the damn thing! But I'll probably be upgrading before long just to lighten the load. That being said, anyone interested in picking one up these days, don't hesitate. They can be bought cheap (relatively speaking) and they are a work horse. Just make sure you upgrade the ram, throw in a SSHD, and buy the 1 with a 900 series NVidea. Oh yeah, the thing is super power hungry, hence the massive 230 watt power supply that probably weighs about the same as a new 17" LT haha
sadly it doesnt support NVME M2 Drives... it would be the ultimate upgrade. Just upgraded it with a normal SATA SSD and is still usable! Runs R6 Siege like a dream.
Eh, I bought a 770M G750 around 8 months ago. The 780M wasn't available in my country, the 880M wasn't released at that time, and the 980M wasn't either (obviously). Imagine how I feel :( Then again, neither the 880M nor the 980M (or any other laptop more powerful than a 770M) is available in my country _to this date_, so I don't really regret my purchase. Meh. Still feels bad.
Shawn D'silva Well we do have a few 860M laptops. We also have lots of desktop parts like 780TIs, 780s, 770s, the high end i7s like the 4770k etc. We just don't have any good gaming laptops, unless you buy alienware (ew overpriced).

Yes, had this laptop, once it unplugs from the grid, the fps could drop to 2 fps from even 120 fps and cause flicker on the screen. When it's plugged in, not a single problem.
It's 'technically' 16M colors, but you won't actually notice a difference in shade between the vast majority of them. Practically speaking there's probably less than 100
Just a gripe I have with the new intro thing you're doing. You shouldn't be asking the viewer to subscribe to your channel without first showing them the quality of your content. I'm a fairly old subscriber but I still find myself asking why should a new viewer subscribe to a channel to be notified of new content which is as of yet, an undetermined quality. It just feels a bit needy and more like what a small channel with 50 subscribers and a 20 sec dub step intro does. (You know what I'm talking about) IMO To be clear, I love your videos and am very impressed with the quality of your content. Which is why I'm confused as to why you resort to this immediate self promoting, before the video even starts properly. Please no hate, just sharing my opinion.

You don't need case fans, but I would get one if you are going to overclock the gpu. A 500 watt PSU is enough, although Corsair is not the best PSU manufacturer.
If only the screen had a g-sync module installed then the battery boost mode could be more useful as the framerate cap could be lowered but that's asking a lot

Hey Linus. I have this laptop with a 970m. For how old it is it can run some of the most demanding games. Sadly the internet adapter was having issues and when I took a look inside the antenna wires where just mangled makes sense for being open and shut over and over again. I repaired it and it worked great but one day I went to play some star citizen and the screen was just black. The laptop was on and when I used an external display it works fine. Once again took a look inside and everything was fine I think the screen just sh**T it’s self. So I did what any other desperate gamer would do I took the screen off and just always used an external display. Now I just have a gaming pc in a keyboard.
I'm thinking of buying it. Is it good enough to play most games like cod gta v. I'm not ultra competitive but I do game heavily would you recommend it?

In complete honesty, if I had to choose any good laptop for gaming it would be 15 inch macbook pro with 750m (Yes I'm dead serious) Why? It not only has a dedicated graphics card but it gives 7+ hours of battery life, its very thin, it looks nice, and its very portable. I know OS X is shit(x99) but that is why boot camp exists

On your recording on the temperatures, the laptop was running on battery power, and the game was running between high 30's and mid 40's FPS. Wouldn't this result in lower temps during recording?

Jahmali Kenway I have a G751JT (4710 and gtx970M) it runs BF4 at ultra and 120% resolution scale at 100-120fps on 64 player maps..............It is the quietest laptop I've owned, absolutely blows me away what it is capable of and how low the temperature stays. The screen is stunning............... tempts me to unplug my 32" screen, that is how good it looks. Unless you are gaming the thing does not even get warm and the fans can't be heard. It boots up faster than I can type my password in.............. also faster than my external monitor can turn on. To say I am pleased with it would be a serious understatement.
Your videos are great man. I subbed. This machine looks like a beast. I have the Asus G75 with 660m and it's still very viable for a 2 year old laptop. Had this rascal been out when I was shopping for gaming laptops, I would have easily jumped on it. But based on your videos, I would definitely go with 970m SLI.
Is the asus laptop a good choice if you want to stay gaming at max-near max settings without having to worry about having to upgrade in the near future? I move around alot so I need a laptop for gaming, the only problem is I've ALWAYS had trouble with thermal throttling on laptops, no matter how much dust I clean or how much cooling paste I replace I've always had throttling problems after one to one and a half year of usage. I've been looking at the MSi laptops, but I've heard that they suffer from even worse cooling?
i personally have a g750jm and make sure you wait awhile before you even THINK of buying this laptop they still have not fixed the BSOD driver issues with the g750 model's. Great job asus.
I'm having a hard time making up my mind. Between the JT and the JY (970M vs 980M). is the 980M so much better then the 970m that it is worth the extra $275 or so? I could be wrong but I don't believe that the 970m (in the JT modle) is the 970m SLI. Or am I wrong there too?
I actually own this computer for about 3 months, and I absolutely cannot complain, it is amazing, and as my first actually gaming computer to buy I love it, it runs all my games that I want, and I am not scared of having to replace it for along time, BUT my one complaint is the matte black paint, it picks up fingerprints and smears like nobody business. but other than that a great computer, I would give it 9/10 overall
+EpicEthr Inplay allot of games, but it runs skyrim maximum graphics no problem. Idont have fallout 4 but it can run fallout new vegas no problem. it is a powerful computer with a nevida geforce 860 graphics card, also boasting an i7 processor, i have no troubles running games with this computer

I have the G750JX which I bought exactly 1 year ago. Now My Laptop is overheating all the time and Idle temperatures are around 55-65. Watching YT pushes up to 75. Playing ANY game will go to 90 and above. Is it possible that only after a year I have to repaste the Processor. GPU seems fine on 80 degrees at max load. Any advice? :-/
Hi Linus, What can you tell us about thre refresh rate of the screen? I read somewhere that it can be bumped up to 100hrz using the nvidia control panel. Can you confrim this? Cause there is no technical data about that on asus website or forums...

Don't get a gaming laptop for college. Unless you don't mind it, the weight, bulk, battery life, and practicality is just not worth it in an environment where portability and battery life rules. Get an ultrabook or a macbook and just build a pc.

I have been trying to find more info on the Asus ROG G751JM-T706H1, and it seems to be a ghost. Would there be any way that you or any one else that is reading this message be able to let me know any pro's and con's for this laptop. It shares every similarity with the one in this except for 1, it uses a GTX 860M instead of the 980M. Any info would be good as i am looking at purchasing this laptop in the coming week.
Not related to this video but just a question about the h100i liquid cooler: A lot of people complain that the h100i cant fit into many pc cases because there isn't room, but why dont they just install the actual h110i fans on the outside of the case? does anyone know?
It has a lot of con factors to it. Being so, it can get more dusts in the fans without the dust filter. On the other hand it doesn't look as neat as it does while in the case.And also it has to be on the radiator for maximum heat/cooling performance. The drag won't be there unless its on the radiator. Unless you want to mount that outside which means modding the case. o.o

I love this laptop! I got the version with a touch screen and upgraded the RAM to 24g and it is a dream. I would stack this ROG up against just about anything. It is bit bulky, but this is a performance laptop. I did not buy this for games, but rather video and photo editing. It is nothing short of amazing....

Look at the FPS as when he unplugs the charging cable, it drops to 45ish FPS...so it does support changing power consumption during a game...

zap813 The keyboard can only generate 512 colors. It's 3 bit not 8 bit so it can't generate 16.8 million colors.

Modern laptop screens support Freesync, though. I wonder if nvidia will implement it at some point.

It is included in eDP and displayport 1.2a standards. AMD freesync is just a commercial name AMD gave to it, it's actually VESA's work.

Hey Linus. I have this laptop with a 970m. For how old it is it can run some of the most demanding games. Sadly the internet adapter was having issues and when I took a look inside the antenna wires where just mangled makes sense for being open and shut over and over again. I repaired it and it worked great but one day I went to play some star citizen and the screen was just black. The laptop was on and when I used an external display it works fine. Once again took a look inside and everything was fine I think the screen just sh**T it’s self. So I did what any other desperate gamer would do I took the screen off and just always used an external display. Now I just have a gaming pc in a keyboard.
I'm thinking of buying it. Is it good enough to play most games like cod gta v. I'm not ultra competitive but I do game heavily would you recommend it?

With this whole thing to get more subscribers you should do what Seananners does where a little unobtrusive but noticeable message comes up to subscribe on the left, he doesn't mention it but I think it works.
Loads of us turn off annotations by default (as in as soon as we start the video, when we change the quality) though. =/

In complete honesty, if I had to choose any good laptop for gaming it would be 15 inch macbook pro with 750m (Yes I'm dead serious) Why? It not only has a dedicated graphics card but it gives 7+ hours of battery life, its very thin, it looks nice, and its very portable. I know OS X is shit(x99) but that is why boot camp exists

On your recording on the temperatures, the laptop was running on battery power, and the game was running between high 30's and mid 40's FPS. Wouldn't this result in lower temps during recording?

Jahmali Kenway I have a G751JT (4710 and gtx970M) it runs BF4 at ultra and 120% resolution scale at 100-120fps on 64 player maps..............It is the quietest laptop I've owned, absolutely blows me away what it is capable of and how low the temperature stays. The screen is stunning............... tempts me to unplug my 32" screen, that is how good it looks. Unless you are gaming the thing does not even get warm and the fans can't be heard. It boots up faster than I can type my password in.............. also faster than my external monitor can turn on. To say I am pleased with it would be a serious understatement.

Your videos are great man. I subbed. This machine looks like a beast. I have the Asus G75 with 660m and it's still very viable for a 2 year old laptop. Had this rascal been out when I was shopping for gaming laptops, I would have easily jumped on it. But based on your videos, I would definitely go with 970m SLI.

Is the asus laptop a good choice if you want to stay gaming at max-near max settings without having to worry about having to upgrade in the near future?
I move around alot so I need a laptop for gaming, the only problem is I've ALWAYS had trouble with thermal throttling on laptops, no matter how much dust I clean or how much cooling paste I replace I've always had throttling problems after one to one and a half year of usage.
I've been looking at the MSi laptops, but I've heard that they suffer from even worse cooling?

i personally have a g750jm and make sure you wait awhile before you even THINK of buying this laptop they still have not fixed the BSOD driver issues with the g750 model's. Great job asus.
I'm having a hard time making up my mind. Between the JT and the JY (970M vs 980M). is the 980M so much better then the 970m that it is worth the extra $275 or so? I could be wrong but I don't believe that the 970m (in the JT modle) is the 970m SLI. Or am I wrong there too?

I actually own this computer for about 3 months, and I absolutely cannot complain, it is amazing, and as my first actually gaming computer to buy I love it, it runs all my games that I want, and I am not scared of having to replace it for along time, BUT my one complaint is the matte black paint, it picks up fingerprints and smears like nobody business. but other than that a great computer, I would give it 9/10 overall

+EpicEthr Inplay allot of games, but it runs skyrim maximum graphics no problem. Idont have fallout 4 but it can run fallout new vegas no problem. it is a powerful computer with a nevida geforce 860 graphics card, also boasting an i7 processor, i have no troubles running games with this computer

I have the G750JX which I bought exactly 1 year ago. Now My Laptop is overheating all the time and Idle temperatures are around 55-65. Watching YT pushes up to 75. Playing ANY game will go to 90 and above. Is it possible that only after a year I have to repaste the Processor. GPU seems fine on 80 degrees at max load. Any advice? :-/

What can you tell us about thre refresh rate of the screen? I read somewhere that it can be bumped up to 100hrz using the nvidia control panel. Can you confrim this? Cause there is no technical data about that on asus website or forums...

Don't get a gaming laptop for college. Unless you don't mind it, the weight, bulk, battery life, and practicality is just not worth it in an environment where portability and battery life rules. Get an ultrabook or a macbook and just build a pc.

I have been trying to find more info on the Asus ROG G751JM-T706H1, and it seems to be a ghost. Would there be any way that you or any one else that is reading this message be able to let me know any pro's and con's for this laptop. It shares every similarity with the one in this except for 1, it uses a GTX 860M instead of the 980M. Any info would be good as i am looking at purchasing this laptop in the coming week.

Not related to this video but just a question about the h100i liquid cooler: A lot of people complain that the h100i cant fit into many pc cases because there isn't room, but why dont they just install the actual h110i fans on the outside of the case? does anyone know?
It has a lot of con factors to it. Being so, it can get more dusts in the fans without the dust filter. On the other hand it doesn't look as neat as it does while in the case.And also it has to be on the radiator for maximum heat/cooling performance. The drag won't be there unless its on the radiator. Unless you want to mount that outside which means modding the case. o.o

Then the one with a gtx 970.

I love this laptop! I got the version with a touch screen and upgraded the RAM to 24g and it is a dream. I would stack this ROG up against just about anything. It is bit bulky, but this is a performance laptop. I did not buy this for games, but rather video and photo editing. It is nothing short of amazing....
