      Is turbo fin need to be balanced if u open it?

    • @kneecaps2000
      @kneecaps2000 4 года назад

      @@billyarden9708 no balance really needed as the wheels are the same. However the clocking of the turbine wheel and compressor wheels relative to each other is important if you want to retain the original balance. Although if you don't follow that the turbo is unlikely to fly apart..it may...may...fail a little earlier though.

  • @carlorobotti5572
    @carlorobotti5572 4 года назад +50

    BIG ERROR: turbines are balanced so you must mark the relative position of both turbines before open the shaft.

      @northmanlogging2769 facts, even in Bulgaria they wanted to charge me 650$ for a Garett turbo. Both for my Nissan X-trail diesel(Rouge in usa) and e350cdi

      One turbine is fixed to the shaft so you can only mark 1 turbine ,shaft and nut

    Good work. A very informative video indeed. I'm going to take the turbo out of my car this evening and service is ready for the morning commute. I've got an important meeting first thing and I want to get to work as quick as possible so that I'm not late: it's kind of an interview for a senior manager position (it's a real big deal). Spending a few hours rebuilding my turbot should help me relax and make sure I don't flounder at the interview.

    Great video i ordered the snap on tool kit in video (just under $1100.00) But now have to wait for it to be shipped. So in the mean time i'm installing my cross drilled brake lines, and my new o-pipe exhaust (50 hp gain BTW) If by then tools havent arrived i will substitute turbo with hair dryer to avoid engine damage.

      +Ichiban Moto I already made one exactly to your precise specifications but it did not work so well as I fitted it with a black needle pointer. I eventually found a red one and replaced it, to my surprise lo and behold ! the measurements are 100 % accurate now. Thanks ! you saved me a fortune and the bike runs perfectly..

    Argggghhhhh! You forgot to mention installing the circular heat shield plate against the exhaust side turbine BEFORE putting the shaft into the housing. Fortunately I noticed I had one part left over...after it was completely assembled. Otherwise, thanks for an excellent video, and for the humor too.

      i agree but the most important also are the retaining ring notably the big one because this turbo will run 2mpg of oil without it

    In order to properly service SAE and metric turbos, you will need SAE and metric, left-handed and right-handed vice grips otherwise you'll booger up the hardware. Learned that the hard way :(

      +Gene LeGate don't forget those vintage British aircraft turbos... I found a nice one to retrofit .... was all happy awesome until I found out the fasteners were Witworth nuts and bolts.
