Here we have one of my favourite roses! Shame it doesn’t have much of a fragrance.... but it’s a MUST have rose for its sheer beauty and profuse flowering.
Just beautiful. You are right about dead heading roses. It makes a difference and the roses produce more buds, plus I feel like a proper gardener when I am doing it 🙂 Have a lovely day.
This looks so much like Jude the Obscure. I just ordered 3 Ronald Dahls for spring 2023 and I’m super excited after seeing your video! How old is your rose?
I just planted 5 of these beauties for Earth Day. The area gets morning sun and part shade the rest of the day. I hope they look half as good as yours...my goodness!
Your Roald Dahl looks stunning! How many varieties you plant in the planter? I bought this one and will plant it next spring. I wonder what size of pot I need to repair for it? Does it need to be made from clay? Thank you for your advice very much
Beautiful! I bought one of these roses last year and haven’t planted it yet because I’m worried I might put it in a spot with not enough sun or too much! How much sun does yours get in a day? Mine right now is probably only getting a few hours and I wonder if it’s enough because it’s only grown a little. Also wondering if you’ve noticed a difference from yours being in a pot and from the one planted in the ground? I kind of want to use a pot because i’d like to take it with me if we move! Thank you! 😊
Okay: I live in hot, dry climate and have a south facing bed against front of house. so LOTS of afternoon sun. Would you choose this one, Eustavia Vye or Boscobel for a grouping in a mixed planter that contains a HUGE magenta bouganvellia , a kiss me Kate trained on obelisk, and a Leonardo da Vinci dead center. I’m trying to find something that won’t clash but also didn’t want another dark pink. House is white! Thanks for the help! Lol
I've been told roses don't come into their scent until they are established at least three years in the garden. Maybe yours will smell better as time goes on. Beautiful rose.
Lady Emma Hamilton is a beauty… it blooms much later than all the other roses though… with a second flush later in the year when most other roses are done.
@@darren-harwood Yes I have read that and since were on the topic of first flowerings, This will surprise you! I live in Florida where the warmth is year round with occasional cold snaps in the winter months, Zone 10. I just got bare root Lady Emma, Munstead Wood, and Boscobel about a month ago and soaked their roots for 4 days which I like better then the short duration soaking. After this amount of time, I am seeing the first bud formation on both Lady Emma and Munstead Wood. And yes, I am using fertilizer which is triple 14 slow release in the pot mix with micro's. They have fast growing canes and am surprised by their vigor!
Oh gosh sooo beautiful.
I'll found my next rose to buy yeah 🎉❤
I bought four after watching your review.
Hurrah!!!! Amazing!! Xx
What an amazing rose!
It looks similar to Jude the Obscure. Jude is very fragrant. The blooms don't open all the way though.

Hi Darren, I have a Rohald Dahl rose, and mine flowers non stop like yours, but mine flops all over the ground and yours looks like it’s more upright.
Great video, which fragrant rose would you suggest for a lowish rose hedge?

I have ordered the Rold Dahl rose. Is that just one plant in the pot?
Yes just the one. 😊
If this rose had some fragrance, I would have 10. I decided on Lady Emma Hamilton which is just as pretty but with a strong fragrance.

Darren are munstead wood flowers larger than Darcey Bussell's?
Pam D pretty similar in size I’d say. Darcey flowers more than Munstead, but Munstead has more of a scent. Hope this helps you decide? 😊🌹
