@MaxTechOfficial can you suggest Ultra processor laptop to buy for programming and video editing usage. I am a frequent traveller so it should be lightweight.
Microsoft should work on an ARM version to get Windows to take full advantage of the M chip, perhaps as sort of similar to Parallels but native. In this way even Windows gaming on Mac should be able to reach amazing performance.
Every Apple vs Windows laptop comparison I watch on any channel show the same result: when you compare a Macbook vs a Windows laptop in the same price bracket, the Macbook always comes on top in performance and battery. Every single time. Apple nailed it with their M processors.

People talk so much mess about how expensive Apple products are, but almost every video I see where there’s a comparison with a Windows computer that has similar specs the Windows computer is basically the same price if not a little more expensive…
This is the point I always make. When doing a price comparison, I generally look at Dell's website. I use their machines at work, so the comparison is a natural one. Spec for spec they're almost the same price, so the superior performance and user experience of the Mac wins for me.
Difference is more storage on the Mac costs 200+ for 250gb 😂
@@nikkstar9970Mac is STILL cheaper after the upgrade :)
The idea that Macs are absurdly expensive was only relevant almost a decade ago but after the M chips they've become incredibly competitive for the price to performance ratio. Also PC gamers complain about the Macbooks' gaming performance for the price when these laptops weren''t meant for gaming regardless... It doesn't matter to me since I already have a 4090 7800x3d PC but prefer to do work on the MacBook. They also forget the near 4k mini-led 120hz display and the overall build quality of these things for the price.
Apple is very good value if you are looking for ultra light laptops, but if you don't care about noise, power usage and the weight of the laptop you can get much more powerful and cheaper gaming laptops.
I dont understand why the Macbook has the notch but not FaceID.
The Face ID equipment requires a thicker space and the MacBook’s display is very thin
@@shiriajin Then I would say the notch is absolutely redundant in the current macbook iteration
@@jonson856 it is. They said it is because they couldn’t fit a 1080P camera there but I think that it could have been done without the notch. The Face ID equipment however is too big for that display enclosure
It’s a placeholder for faceid in future products. Just bring people used to it even on a laptop. 😂
If you use an Apple laptop for a long time, burn-in will inevitably occur in the menu bar area at the top of the display.
If there is a notch, people will not think of that area as the monitor area.
Even if burn-in occurs, people pay less attention.
I thought they were aiming for that.
Lack of a physical escape key is a deal breaker for a lot of developers
Or anybody.

Dell saw one of Apples biggest failures and said: I need that
Also, no full size SD card reader. Seems like Dell has just abandoned the photography industry.
Only Apple and Asus remain.
@@akin242002 While photo&videographers heavily rely on sd card readers, they represent a smaller portion of the market. The SD card reader takes up more space than usb-c ports do as well. There is a world of great usb-c hubs with every SD slot available with 10 other features that takes one usb c port, otherwise single use connectors are also available. I don’t see the issue personally!
Monster productivity, monster battery life and those speakers... man how do they make them so good? It literally sounds like a high quality dedicated speaker minus the loudness.
I've owned nothing but MacBooks my entire life ,currnelty on a 14" M3 max. speakers are good for a laptop, but they're not my favorite. And they definitely don't sound nearly as good as actual dedicated speakers.
The reason they're not my favorite is because it sounds like the speakers are inside a bowl. I mean the sound is clear, but there's this weird bowl like reverb effect. It's not defective, I ordered it 3 times before determining it's just how it sounds. I don't personally like it.
Macbook air 15 speakers are sweet. Don't even need headphones. They sound that good. I've had windows laptops, dell/ThinkPad woth cheap tin speakers. Sometimes they put Harmon pardon or the like in certain models....but apple knows sound.
@@Toritori-ke9sf To me they sound fantastic! But yeah, they can't be compared to a good dedicated speaker as they are very small. But the whole system sounds so good that definitely if the loudness was higher the system could actually be as good

@@user-tm9tv1ps6l The reason we don't see many AMD laptops is because of two reasons. First is that AMD has a very limited supply, compared to Intel. And second is that Intel works much more closely with OEMs to better optimise their software for the chip. It's sad tbh. But I feel Qualcomm will bridge the void better than even AMD ever can.
4:07 this difference is crazy
It‘s massive 🤪
what difference ?
@@vaibhavsingh8122the speaker difference in the lows
I own both. Macbook battery life is much better. It also blows XPS 14 away while both operating on battery because the Macbook runs at full processor power while the XPS 14 throttles way way down with settings at balanced. Sound quality vastly superior on Macbook Pro.
There is an option in preferences to reduce performance in the Mac while on battery. Low power mode. It will nerf the CPU, dim the screen Ect....to increase battery.
@@nicktw8688But MaxTech has shown, in other videos, that a Mac laptop is hardly “nerfed” on Low Power Mode. What they showed is starting with the M2, the Efficiency cores became noticeably faster than on M1, so they now perform closer to the Performance cores but using much less power. That means the loss of performance from Low Power Mode is only noticeable on heavy processing workloads. So unless I need to do maximum power processing like video editing or 3D, I leave Low Power Mode set to on for battery, and off when on AC, and I hardly notice the difference.
I mean dell and hp imo one of the worst brands for a laptop like theses as they always underperform for the price they are asking or for the configuration but for me I do use a asus laptop and I get like 10 to 13hrs (when new) but now I get like 8 to 10 hours but the thing I will recommend on all windows laptops is to change the lid and power button permissions to hibernate when on battery power because Microsoft is stupid like normal and make you lose more battery when the computer is in sleep mode vs when using it normally, also dells and hp as been known for bad thermals.

Yep. My Apple Watch unlocks before I have even bothered to think about using FP scanner. A great feature.
Honestly I have a M1 Max Macbook Pro 16 inch and like half the time the fucking thing doesn't even unlock with my apple watch ultra. It was so inconsistent. It was one of the main points I was actually buying that for. Along with a bunch of various other things that didn't work properly so I ended up selling it. Not gonna happen. Look for Windows laptop makers to start offering Arm-based units with fixed memory and internal storage….just like Apple. If you try buying a 1 TB and 16 GB Mac model then you'll have to pay somewhat 500 dollars extra over whatever the base pricing is, which will cost a lot for the corporate
@@ilikejennaIt’s just a matter of contract renewal, and ancient proprietary software and hardware. This is brand new tech in some ways. A lot of really old corporate environments have an entire infrastructure which just perpetuates the Windows purchases so it is essentially just grandfathered in. They have entire fleets of computers and droves of IT specialists and infrastructure all built around outdated systems, and Windows is notorious for still having backwards compatibility with ancient code. So they don’t use Windows because it’s good, they use it because they have software or hardware or internal systems that are now dependent on it. Sorry for sounding so dumb
I just recieved a replacement printer- the other one had issues.
They are exactly the same model and make, although this one of course is a few years newer (2021 vs 2024)
Would it be best to remove the printer, and uninstall all the drives and then when i plug the new one in, Re-install them as a ‘clean’/fresh install to set up the new printer (or it will do it automatically like last time)? I hope that make sense! Thank you!
I have a macbook pro 15" 2015 and the printer is an epson workforce printer
I would hate to uninstall it and have issues re-installing but thought it may be best to install the new one as if I never had one before.... what would you do?
And sorry this must sound dumb
I did check and Im pretty sure all the drivers on my mac are the newest
if they are the same mode, despite being newer, it should just be plug and play. Since theyre even of the exact same model, they would be compatble with each other, so you can just remove the old printer, plug in the new one in, and connect the new printer to your wifi etc and it should be set.
I was also not sure if by drives you meant the printer drivers that you installed on the macbook?
Since they are the same model, you woudnt need to "delete and reinstall" anything. It might see that there is a newer version, and update it, but it woudnt require deleting and redownloading new software
There won’t be any competition in battery comparison for at least 4-5 years, I believe
I work as an embedded software development engineer. I have never seen an Apple computer in any of the companies that I have worked for. This is because none of the apps that I use are available for MacOS but all are available for both Windows and Linux. RUclipsrs really like ARM based Macs because they are very fast and effective at editing their videos. Unfortunately very few professionals have the apps that they need similarly available for the Mac. I messaged a Civil engineer who told me that as with embedded software development apps, no civil engineering design apps are available for the Mac.
I am an embedded software development engineer. Everyone in the companies I work and worked for and the majority of people at conferences I visit have Apple laptops. I appreciate the fact that you honored your viewers' request to compare the Dell to a comparable MacBook in price and size, when you did the Dell vs MacBook Air comparison. However, it appears as if you are still trying to underspec the Mac in order to give the XPS a change-which it still can't meet the Mac in performance though. Since the Dell used for this comparison costs amost $2400, why not compare it to the unbinded M3 Pro varient of the Mac which has 18-core instead of 14-core GPU and 12-core instead of 11-core CPU? I’ve been using Windows laptops and the size of the windows power adapters have gotten bigger and you better keep it close if you push the Windows laptop. Fans will come on frequently. I envy battery life to performance ratio with MAC.
Before comparing Windows or Mac OS just remember Windows is supposed to run on all hardware. All x86 machine. And MacOS is supposed to run on only an specific machine. So they could optimize their internal code or whatever. On the other hand MacOS dedicated for any kind of professional work(That was stated by Steve Jobs years ago). But Windows is for all sort of people who wants to watch TikTok videos or do professional works. So don't compare OS-wise..
On CPU-wise M series cpu is a clear winner. And it's the M cpu which is responsible for less power use..
But Windows-based laptop manufacturers should put strong battery inside that if they are left with no other options. Years ago when apple used to have Intel CPUs also had longer battery backup. They used to have massive battery pack since Intel laptop would use more power.
But windows-based laptop manufacturers don't take into account of the battery backup. Why? Because it's meant for mass people. People would buy anyway to play video games or any other non-sense tasks...
But only Pro people buys MacBook. It's for the people who changes the world. And so Apple always makes exceptional MacBook which serves it's only purpose of serving the pro-people.

So odd by Dell and Intel. Dell XPS 14 performed better unplugged. Still behind M3 Pro Macbook Pro on single and multi-core levels.
All I know is my M3 Pro MBP 14" 12/18/18/1TB is a rockstar. Does everything I need it to do and never complains and battery life is amazing.
Just got the same model a few days ago and agreed completely. Absolute beast
Mine is being delivered tomorrow, seriously can’t wait.
Glad bro, just today ordered 16“ Max 48GB … should do a while. Getting off Intel i9.
@@jean-marcducommun8185 sounds awesome, bet that’ll be an absolute beast to work with👏🏻👏🏻
Ditto. Got mine Wednesday and absolutely love it. Not the most powerful, but for $1799 at Best Buy, the MacBook Pro M3 Pro is a tough to beat value/performance proposition.
16:00 Different render formats! Why? Mp4 for Dell and QuickTime for apple!
And Dell is also sets to auto in Encoder!
Reupload?
Dell Has max audio where you can adjust bass boost.. Dell has pretty good bass.
Wondering why you are going with the XPS for comparison?
We compare to the XPS every year
Ok then the focus should be dell Vs Mac not intel Vs mac. The part of the title that says Mac destroys intel is misleading because that's not your focus for this video. That title will make sense if you chose the intel line up this year and did a comparison with a similarly priced Mac. And in that video your choice should probably be a laptop without a dedicated gpu. Like the Asus Zenbook 14 2024 or something similar
@@kassimbalogun2301maybe you should make your own video as you describe. Perhaps someone, somewhere will watch it….someday
6:26 Mac Book clearly wins
You could have tested to power the XPS via a port from the Macbook...😂 16:42
On this channel, every test is bogus. They always pit the worst PC within the price range for comparison.
I did test the £800 Dell G15 PC laptop against the new £2000 M3 MacBook Pro.
Sure, the M3 might excel in battery life, internet browsing, and non-demanding graphics tasks, but when it comes to Blender rendering and Cinebench, it's a crawl-twice as slow as the PC. And let's not ignore the glaring price difference: £800 vs. £2000.
Sure, the PC might consume more power 😄, but good luck running any demanding game on that Mac-it's stuck with graphics reminiscent of 2015.
I wonder when last I used my laptop plugged in, during class hours, with that said the Mac beats out the XPS in performance.
I want to see a comparison between the MacBook pro M3 and the Commodore 64 .. 😅😅😅
C64 wins everything. It's actually more expensive than mac nowadays ;)
I always like my computer to come with built in hardware vulnerabilities that are not patchable.
This comparison has no merit. It is well known that Dell XPS line is significantly overpriced. The best competition in this price range would have been the ASUS Zephyrus G14, with a RTX 4070 and 32GB RAM. The ASUS has spectacular speakers (90% of what the MacBook Pro has in my opinion), good battery life, more versatility (can game, heavy coding, etc.), and a great design to top it off.
"It is well known that Dell XPS line is significantly overpriced. " - it is well known that _full service_ companies like Dell and Apple price their products to support their service. ASUS - well, they can charge you a restocking fee for returns, for example.

if snapdragon x elite enters, intel and amd will face a huge downfall in their market share.
What about durability? Is Dell as durable as Macbook?
Soldered SSDs is a deal breaker.
Nope
agreed. reasons I don't buy Macbooks. I don't care how good the battery life is.
Same here. Also, some software that I use either isn't optimized on MacOS or doesn't work at all.
MacBooks are still great, just not for my workflow needs.
Yeah prices for higher variants Macbooks are ass, 200 $ for what 1 puny 8gb ram chip??
Yawn
absolutely unbiased comparison, at least give it a go and run some games on these, much more people use their systems for gaming than video editing. I do not know why so many reviewers are so fixated on video editing performance like that is the only thing people do on these machines.
Honestly, the only time it makes sense to get a Windows laptop over a MacBook is if you don't need that type of performance and would rather get a slightly cheaper device whilst still having the latest Intel/AMD CPUs
Ahh, didn't know bootcamp can't run on Arm, good to know.
Thank God it can not run. People going for a Mac are trying to run away from Windows.
Right. If you want to run Windows on an Apple Silicon Mac, you won’t be able to boot from it, you must use a virtualizer like Parallels. And the restriction there is that the only version of Windows that runs on Apple Silicon is the Windows build for ARM. If your software runs on that, then great, you’re all set. If your software is not yet compatible with ARM Windows, then it isn’t going to work and you’ll need an Intel-based PC or Mac to run it.
@@brightboxstudio Who buys a Mac to run Windows?????
That is like buying a pickup truck and use the truck bedding as a wheelbarrow. Doesn't make sense. You get a Mac to FORGET the nightmare called Windows.
@@jamesnyers1721 I don’t care about Windows, don’t want it. But occasionally, in my job, it is useful to be able to do a quick test to verify how a project looks and works in the Windows version of an app or web browser, so on my Intel Macs, the ability to run Windows has saved me the expense of ever having to buy a Windows PC again (I haven’t bought one for 25 years). The only reason I keep my old Intel MacBook around is for that occasional Windows test.
@@jamesnyers1721 windows is good too.
Excellent information, thanks.
waiting for MS SLS2 vs MB Pro
Is a Windows vs MAC comparison relevant? As a Windows user, I never consider using a MAC and I doubt a MAC user would switch to a Windows machine
Because it’s better to open people’s eyes & show them how bad windows laptops are
The test is invalid from the moment the Intel needs to be charged during the test. It seems they are still far from the M series. It's also not a negligible aspect that XPS has a terrible keyboard.
Im a Windows user and I like the Mac performance in general, but I need Office and in a Mac it doesnt work well Windows, the Apple equivalents are not good, people that use Mac what solution did find for Office?
You can use office on Macs
Great video and all, but I always think you should compare the MacBook to something like the Razer blade 14 or Asus zephyrus g14, which would be a lot more fair for the windows side.
Dell is the best laptop making in the windows side though
@DustyKing I don't think so. That's why I mentioned the Razer blade 14 (in terms of performance) and especially the Asus zephyrus g14 (in terms of overall build quality, screen, speakers, portability........). Compared to the xps 14, the g14 wins in literally almost every category, and it's not like it's much heavier or larger, plus it's cheaper.
@@nicolasfreyibanez8130 gaming laptops suffer from bulkiness and short battery life, and the use case here is for work, not gaming, though maybe performance would be better on the laptops you mentioned.
You do some graphics and cpu test while the dell is plugged in and the MacBook is on the battery lol. It’s not really fair
Explain why SSD scores don’t correlate to faster photo load times and content export. Apple seems to have a better balanced system and doesn’t design just for benchmark scores
Why dont you just compare 32 gb/1 tb version of the Macbook which costs more than Dell?
You have some mad prices there I see, at my place that exact mac is 700$ more expensive than, for example Gigabyte AORUS 15 (2024) Ultra 7-155H/32GB/1TB+1TB/W11 RTX4060 165Hz So yeah...
would the macbook be faster if you plugged it in?
The thing is, the XPS's graphics are very underpowered(Talking about wattage). Dell simply doesn't provide enough power to the graphics for them to work, but either which way, I would still go for a MacBook any day of the week
Remember this is the M3 Pro MB Pro 14 not the M3 Max that would have even more powerful CPU & GPU multicore.
@@ahaimes6320 Yeah I do agree, its just that I don't think the XPS is a great comparison for the MBP, there are other windows laptops that are a way better value than the XPS.
Awesome comparison!
Dont show graphics performance.. if you wanna game mac is not the option to go and that’s pretty huge difference in my opinion. And if its just about work then I think yeah go for mac.
Apple silicon Macs GPU is pretty strong
If games were made by devs then mac GPU would be more than enough to run them. Maybe not beating the best of Windows as they have a headstart over optimisation and performance. Without the games on macOS, Windows is best for gaming. However, I game on a console which means I can buy the MB Pro instead of the XPS 14 and get a much better laptop.

I've spent crazy amount of time looking for osx app alternatives and ways to run my fav games on osx but failed. So the main problem why I'm stuck to win machines is software related work pipelines.
The screen difference is brutal between the MacBook and the Dell, like look how much better the screen is on the Dell.
Not really, we want a laptop efficient like the apple silicon, without apple price-policy, without a closed eco-system, expendable (M2-Slots, RAM-Slots), performance on Battery and on plug. it doesn't matter what architecture (ARM, Apple silicon, x86). The tendancy to solder on every device and make it not repairable, is the reason why my daily driver now is over 10 years old. i bought now an old MBA M1 to test if that suit my needs, in terms of performance (on battery) and endurance (battery) YES, in terms of price-policy, closed eco-system, upgradebility (storage and RAM), connectivity NO. Repairability it depends (one good thing is ports are not soldered to the logic board)
Apple Silicon IS ARM.
Price policy? Thats the Apple that is CHEAPER than the competition in this very video?
Closed eco-system? Its a laptop. It runs all the software from all the companies that make a Mac version. What is closed about it?
@@MichaelGGarry is the price advantage of apple still valid with the same amount of RAM and storage? The processed data are of the same size on intel and on apple systems, a 4K Video of 5 minutes or 5 hours has the same amount of data, a 4k-picture is not half the size on an apple system. And as i wrote the tendancy to solder on devices is now also on a few intel systems, it started back with the 5th gen of intel cpus.
So price comparison only valid with same amount of storage and RAM.
Swapping is not a feature but a diability aid.
@@MichaelGGarry Yeah quite a stupid comment from him, I just got a mac and coming from linux yeah something are more closed (Like I cannot compile the OS) but I don't see how that is considered a locked-down system when coming from windows which is probably even more locked than macos.
Also I never understood why people consider mac expensive, laptops are never cheap, they probably try to compare a business class laptop (macbook pro, dell xps, lenovo carbon or p series) to gaming laptops which are half the price since they have amazing specs with trash quality build
@@MichaelGGarry Price Policy I think they mean the upcharge on RAM and SSD.
The issue with Mac is that they do generally drop legacy support faster than Windows, and a lot of software does not have a Mac version. For example when Apple dropped 32-bit support a lot of old apps or games from the 2000s stopped working. Eventually like with Rosetta 1, they will drop Rosetta 2 and all your Intel binaries will stop working. It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when. You can also run any Linux distro on a Windows laptop while there are no stable Linux distros on mac.
Also terms of price- you can definitely still find cheaper alternatives. The Zephyrus G14 and Lenovo Slim 9i are both competitively priced. And generally speaking Windows laptops will go on sale more especially near the end of their yearly cycle.
Yeah, I don't need 512GB or 16GB yet but some people do, and Apple is just being greedy for storage 😢
2:21-2:31 he forgot to talk about unlock with Apple Watch. Which is faster than putting biometrics in a laptop.
1:40 I believe the Dell supports 3 external plus it's own screen. The Apple device only supports 2 external screens when it's own is off afaik.
The MB Pro 13 M3 Pro supports two external display and the laptop display. It is only the base M3 chip that supports two displays. The two external displays can be 5K which I understand the Dell cannot support.
