I tried to put in my Asus for RMA, and they said I had to ship it to China as that was the manufacturer, not US. Luckily, my Amazon business let me return it at month 11! I'm going back to Dell. Just make sure to know which country it's manufactured
Great stuff, mate! Always appreciate your reviews. Just sold my XPS 9530 (i9, 4070). The whole XPS line, despite this new design, has gotten long in the tooth for me. I'm throwing my money at Lenovo once they restock their Slim 7/7i (i9, 4070). I was considering Alienware m16 R2, but I can't justify a 300 nit screen at that price point. Dell's price-to-performance ratio is always disproportionate. There's so much better out there price-wise. I'd love to get my hands on the Zephyrus G16, but their affordable configuration is also impossible to get at the moment. It sucks when you can cover the price but the supply isn't there. Ya, I get it: totally first-world shite.
haha I also wanted to get the G16 in but the price in the UK is insane 🤣 I have also got the new Lenovo 7i on order (what was the slim 7) with 14700HX and 4070 in the new white colour, can't wait for it to arrive!
Gave up on Dell 3 years ago after being an XPS user and business customer for almost 20 years. Been shocked and amazed at how fast the brand is unwinding with appalling support levels & woefully inadequate product offerings. Little wonder they’re losing market share faster than all the other brands. I just checked the website and you can spec a 16” XPS with the 4070 & pay £3,200 but only get the 1920 x 1200 screen! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice and informative video ! I’m considering one of these two. I’m a photographer and edit in Lightroom Classic, no video editing. Will XPS 14 be a good option for sustained performance in Lr Classic ?
New to your channel. Really enjoying the clarity and comprehensiveness. Would love a comparison of an XPS 16 and similar spec Precision workstation, for big data rather than CAD/video editing. Or even just comment advice if full video not possible.
I have not looked at the precision range for a while but if you are using for big data, lots of ram, a fast SSD and good cpu is essential, gpu is not so important. I will have a look at the precision range and get back to you
P.S I’m excited for you to review the 2024 Razer Blade 18 laptop this year that just got announced and it’s amazing as promised would you recommend the QHD+ 300hz Mini LED 2560x1600 local dimming switch on/off first ever from Razer to add a switch to turn mini LED on/off like on the Strix scar series from Asus or would you recommend the IPS 4k 200hz either one is amazing although the option is either having a IPS original 4k laptop screen 200hz screen and buying a 4k Mini LED or OLED monitor with 240hz to use with Thunderbolt 5 or having a 2560x1600 300hz Mini LED local dimming switch screen with needing to buy a 4k IPS display monitor to use with Thunderbolt 5 and actually be able to use a 4k screen for productive work or gaming even if the mini LED screen is nice for watching movies and gaming and being able to turn it off whenever.
I would probably pick the mini led 300hz as the 4k+ price is eye watering, would love the opportunity to review them both and give you a definitive answer but I just can't afford them both 😂
@@MashITTech well interesting you say that because I know they are both out of stock right now for pre orders but the Razer Blade 18 Mercury White/silver colour edition which looks better than the black in my opinion for the 4k 200hz IPS screen it is the same price in the UK as the Black Razer Blade 18 QHD+ 300hz Mini LED variant with a RTX 4090 GPU configured on either colour model on razer’s website currently and then if you want to get the black Razer blade 18 with 4k 200hz IPS panel it’s an extra £300 so I’d probably personally go for the 4k 200hz IPS panel Mercury edition when it’s back in stock and reviews are out about the screens as it’s £300 cheaper configured on their website than the black version for whatever reason. Even though the mini LED screen has a local dimming off/on switch the IPS is going to be more colour accurate for productive work and there’s always the option of adding OLED or Mini LED 4k monitors with Thunderbolt 5 without sacrificing refresh rate.
If i see it come back into stock I will give you a shout as I am constantly checking 😂 since I got the Mercury last year I really don’t ever want to go back to the black version, Mercury just looks so good and no finger prints!
Good advice. The XPS 16 is the better choice, and it is clear the XPS 14 is disappointing. Both are very expensive and if you do not game or need Windows-specific apps then an MB Pro would be a better choice, more so for the 14-inch users. For the XPS 14, if you have to go Windows then the G14 (2024) would be better, though that is not perfect and is also expensive (£2400 in the UK).
Yes I really wanted to get the g14 and g16 in for review but the U.K. prices are eye watering and as I buy the laptops for review I couldn’t justify it
Thanks for the nice review. One question: didn't you have problem reading fn touch raw under the bright light? It's platinum color and I wonder if it's ok.
thermals are really good but dell do throttle the wattage back to maintain it. GPU temps were 60-70s but Dell always let the CPU boost unto 100c, they have done it for years so I guess they are comfortable with that
Thank you, I am still using my 2023 Razer Blade 14 as my daily driver, it is portable but still has great power for my needs and even works well on my 100w PD monitor or charger. Upgraded it to 64gb fury and 4tb sn850x and it cuts through my editing, development and 3d design plus great for a bit of gaming on the side 😃
I think there are very few laptops which directly fit the category of the MacBook Pro laptops, with their battery life, premium build quality, compact designs and chargers and great screens. In that world, these two might make a crude amount of sense However, if you are willing to sacrifice a little bit of portability and battery life, there are quite a few gaming laptops which can run in circles around these devices. These devices make sense for few and far between, so we’ve to see how it works….. Eagerly waiting for the Alienware reviews brother…….
@@MashITTech ok thanks, I currently have 2023 xps 17 with 4070 and i9 and 64g of ram, the problem with the 2023 model is that the screen is only 60hz 4k, do you think the 90hz oled is a big difference?budget is no issue to me, sometime when I scroll the internet/forums or watch youtube, I can tell the screen is limited to 60hz and I was wondering if 90 is a big improvement or not? thanks!
in that case I would take the XPS, I have had some awful HP laptops so wont touch them, lenovo thinkpads are solid but never have the best speakers or look as good :)
No, you won’t see it in person. All screens and oled devices flicker which cannot be see by eye but because the frequency is different to the frequency of our camera it shows up on video
Agreed they are awful for the price but no doubt dell will have a crazy sale at some point to make them more sensibly priced. Sadly in the U.K. the rog g14 and g16 are even more stupidly priced
For the first time since 2015, I just gave up on Dell and went to Asus. I highly recommend the G16 or G14 this year over the XPS line for any use case
Have ti agree. Price is cheaper and they have more performance with their GPUs. Also, imo more function not just form.
The G16 have a maximum of 32GB RAM, which might be a deal breaker for some users.

Just the video I've been waiting for, love the content.
thank you mate :)
Great video man also looking forward to a comparison between 15 and 16 inch laptops if you're ever gonna do it of course
Really nice comparison. I notice the effort you put into this. Great laptops but not perfect(speakers).
great review as always. love how you test the laptop speaker volume. wish you had added in a MacBook for sound comparison at least at 100%
I am constantly trying to improve the testing so I will see what I can do for future testing 😃
The XPS series have always been expensive but this time I don't think they worth the money.

Thanks for the nice review. One question: didn't you have problem reading fn touch raw under the bright light? It's platinum color and I wonder if it's ok.
no, the OLED was pretty clear even in bright environment, it was just the backlit keys that were the problem
@@MashITTech Thanks!
Dell XPS 16 > Dell XPS 14.
Alternate portable choices are ASUS Zenbook 14 (2024 version) or HP Spectre 360 14 (2024 version).
how is text rendering on these vs. non-OLED panels?
the XPS 9710 was incredible, about time to upgrade, and i have no interest in the XPS line this year
what else could you replace that 9710 with? maybe the new Asus G16?
Would you go with the XPS 14 over X1 Carbon G12?
only if you need the Nvidia gpu. Otherwise I prefer the G12
What's the maximum power they can draw with a PD charger?
Those are very very slim laptops. What would be with the thermals when gaming AAA games?
thermals are really good but dell do throttle the wattage back to maintain it. GPU temps were 60-70s but Dell always let the CPU boost unto 100c, they have done it for years so I guess they are comfortable with that

Blade 16 4080 or zephyrus g16 4080 2024
Best laptop currently
how to get more videos with the same laptops :
just kidding, also congrats on 40K+ subscribers

Bullshit previous xps are better
I pretty much said the same in my XPS 16 review. The XPS 17 is a much better offering over the 16
