@@riftfontain it's in the Fornis region, where you find that one puzzle door and go thru the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel there are 2 nopon one of which has an item exchange that has that as an option. Downside is that you need 99 Gold Nopon coins for each but I'm pretty sure that there are some unique monsters that drop some.
I REALLY respect that you can praise this game as one of the best jrpgs of this generation but still point out negatives that you consider unacceptable.
Agreed, tho the complaint about the story is just kinda wrong. I can get why someone would have those complaints if they didn’t do any side content or didn’t play the previous games, but given that he at least did the first 2 games, he shouldn’t have the questions he does. That and the tropes aren’t really there, with all the friendship stuff genuinely being a danger to the people involved (interlinking) and no “killing god” stuff
@@DavidHosey1 I don't necessarily agree with the complaints, I respect that someone can look at a game critically and still see it as a great game. There's a lot of binary reviews anymore, like they'll say how everything is amazing and then give it a 6/10 because they hate the story which I always find laughable.
My complaints about the game after 180h are: - too grindy, actually its grindy AF, so dependant on drops or collectibles but there is a limit of 99 to hold at a time - nopon coins are shit, again, limited to 99, but you need hundreds of them, while also getting them is grindy AF - Characters are slow and the traversal buffs are gated behind ranks with colonies, but getting those ranks is also a pain in the ass To sum it up, I can live with everything, but that grinding style needs to stop..... Its the 3rd game in a row, don't think the devs got that memo....
Same for me. I hate lots of stuff in xc 2 but xc 3 is awesome for me, I like it as much as liked the definitive edition of xc 1, maybe even more ;) Even side quest dialogue in xc 3 is pretty good, let alone main story and hero recruitment...
2 has worst navigation system. Cant really enjoy it on the exploration, easy for me to be lost. 1 and 3 is the best one in this aspect and that is fatal one. Blade system and has that many doesn't appeal me much if explorations is need you to always look at youtube video to know where there are.
I think they've intentionally limited their storytelling with regards to 3's connection with 1 and 2 to be able to make 3 as standalone as possible. Regarding your issues about graphics, I think this mostly falls on the limitations of the hardware. We already know that Monolithsoft is capable of doing incredible graphics with X. Maybe in the future Nintendo console, we might be able to see a more polished Xenoblade game.
Strangely, I think the exact opposite. I can't imagine how someone could really understand the end of the story without playing 1 and 2 (the beginning of the story is mostly self-contained, but for the last chapters you NEED to understand the whole plot about Klaus). I already had somewhat of an hard time understanding some things despite the fact that I did both (granted, it was a long time ago) and I've seen absurdities on websites that are usually good enough at explaining games, which seems to shows that people seem to have an hard time getting the last chapters overall. Things like the nature of aionios in relation to 1 and 2, what origin is supposed to do and what happens in the ending, etc, go all over the place depending on who you ask, despite it being -- mostly -- understandable if you've played the two first games. If anything that the endgame is too heavily reliant on the two first games instead, despite the fact that it has acted as if it was an mostly-independant story until that point so you lack explanations. You have one character more or less explaining the setting to you but it's literally 3 lines and that's it. So if the goal was to make 3 as standalone as possible, they most definitely failed in that regard. And the problem is that, as you said, it still looks like they were aiming for that. Which means very few explanations regarding 1 and 2. So basically, the game tries to act as if it was standalone, and therefore doesn't give you the informations you'd need about 1 and 2, but at the same time it fails at it.
@@tsukicat3143 Well that is a surprise but I never had that issue (starting the game with 3) I played it and it made me interested in the other 2 games but I was never really lost on the story
@@Gameboy2007-Official I already did otherwise I would have been way more explicit. The only "spoiler" in there is the name "origin", and I didn't say what it is supposed to be, which could mean absolutely anything if you're not aware of it already. If that's a spoiler to you, then good luck discussing absolutely anything.
@@tsukicat3143 i've finished the game weeks ago, i just think that some people might be watching the video and looking at the comments and getting spoiled without a warning is a bad thing
This might actually be my favorite jobs system in any game. I really like the variety in gameplay that comes with the different jobs and I love how you unlock jobs by befriending hero characters and learning the jobs through them. I definitely think it adds to the combat a lot and really gives you a much greater attachment to all of the different colonies.
Agreed. It was a good job system. My only major criticism of it, is that the heroes whom you get the jobs from, make very little impact on the plot (with the exception a few of them). I mean there was at least one hero that Moebius should have acknowledged when you fight them if they're in your party. Monolith Soft even put them in the cutscene but give them no acknowledgment in the dialogue. Felt disjointed.
@@IsaacG8 i agree, but it woulda been so much work to make different VA/dialouge/cutscenes depending on who your hero charecter is. Also there are some acknowledgement on whos in your party talking to the people, especially in the city. But yeah, if they could have done that it would have been awesome, but i see why they didn't, especially with optional heros.
My only and LARGE issue with XC3 is I always felt overleveled for the majority of story content. I had to ignore the camp leveling system outright in an attempt to gain some kind of decent cp gains during main story content. Using the camp leveling system basically killed my leveling experience, ESPECIALLY when it came to gaining cp for leveling new classes. This game hurts you for too much exploration because you overlevel so fast!! But heck, one wants to explore for many reasons! I don't know... It just felt so unbalanced to me like no one played the whole game trying to do the majority of content as they come to it.
Reviewers keep complaining about the game having "bad graphics" and I just don't see it. Also I think the claim that it looks exactly like Xenoblade 2 is literally factually wrong, it had to have been a long time since you actually played Xenoblade 2 to say that.
The graphics and art style in the game are excellent. The issue is that, because it's a Switch title, the resolution occasionally goes down to keep the framerate at 30fps. An mClassic can help mitigate this issue.
Hard disagree on the graphics. They're a massive improvement over XC2. Resolution is higher and doesn't drop as low. I'm very satisfied. Can't squeeze blood from a rock. This is as good as it gets for Switch games and a world this big with this many characters
The resolution is objectively much better in 3, but the art direction was better in 2 (obv talking only environments, not the cringe blades). Also environment music was better in 2 but 3 is probably better with battle themes. Honestly 3 is by far a better game (and I really loved 2) but the last 20% of the game is disastrously bad in nearly every way
XC3 is one if not the best looking game on the Switch at the moment. I really don't get how people can say it looks bad or looks the same as XC2, because it doesn't.
I finished it yesterday after doing nearly everything. Main villain was kinda weak, but I really liked everything else about it. A really damn great game, the ending was still pretty good. Chapter 5/6 were really damn good, definitely the peak of the game. Combat is fucking amazing. I still really really liked the ending too. I like 1 and 3 pretty equally story-wise, but the characters in this game are a lot better which you could say makes the story better.
Yeah I understand that the main villain was kind of weak, but the final boss battle with him was awesome. Best final boss for a xenoblade game, epic from start to finish.
@@fanmovie357 it is actually very similar to xenogears in some aspects. Not going to spoil anything, but the protagonists Noah and Mio have similarities with Fei and Elly. I would say it is as good as xenogears but maybe not as ambitious as xenogears. Xenogears I feel it was too ambitious and was held back by the PS1 in a way.
i love this game i spend more then 100 H right now still not finished it yet but tbh i loved XENO 2 more its really touched my heart but i love them both
While yeah, I do have complains about the fact that there are a lot of things left unexplained and almost nothing to go off to make theories, and it's by far the Xenoblade game with the worst villain and worst final chapter, the ending where the group splits up absolutely wrecked my heart. It's a beautiful game and a love letter to the fans, and I really hope the DLC either if it's a sequel or prequel, expands a lot on the lore and explains a lot of things that where left unexplained. I just wish the game was at least two chapters longer so it could have enough time to expand on different subjects like the founders of the city (which will probably be the DLC focus, I'm calling it), expand more on Z's as an antagonist and more on the fusion of both worlds. It has a lot of really cool ideas, it just needed more time to fully develop everything. Still, amazing game and definitely a step up from Xeno 2, the cast of characters where by far the best in the series which made the ending even more heartbreaking.
i think the fusion of both worlds was already explained in this game. edit: Albeit through an explanation that could be summarized as "science, atoms and protons and neutrons"
I agree the combat is pretty good, Freely changing character and managing the whole party feel almost like an RTS. And there's an equipement piece to allow party member who are not healer to revive party member. I did all the game in hard mode and it was a godsend.
Awesome review Erick! I'm not sure I agree with your take on the graphics but I agree with just about everything else. This game grabbed me the quickest out of all the games and the side quests are so much better from the previous games as well. I just finished the main story last night and I'm looking forward to playing the post game!
Graphic wise, I have to strongly disagree with you. Same as with the Trails series, for the amount of content and the quality of said content it provides, XC3 has really good graphics. Gone are the jerkiness and stiffness of expressions of the characters, and their movements look a hell lot more fluid and natural than in previous XCs. What I think bothered you were the textures, that look more or less early PS3 era. But guess what? That lagging and framerate drop you complained about? Had the guys at Monolith Soft gone with the PS5/Unreal-Fuckin-Engine level of detail that western AAA games go for, the game would have been totally unplayable in the Switch. It would have had to be PC only, and for top of the line Gamer PCs only, considering the sheer amount of frikin' details that are on the screen at any given time, plus the swift transitions from cutscenes to battles it sports (where the high-poly, cutscene only models switch to low-poly, action models). Plus, this is a sandbox, and a big ass one on top of that, with troves of characters, objects, enemies, and details all animated in real time, loaded within a single scene (or area). Design wise, if you want to have that level of... clutter AT THE SAME TIME around you, each doing its thing and looking pretty, then you are forcing the consumers to gear up if they want to play the game at all. Quite frankly, as someone with game design knowledge, I marvel at the skill of the Monolith Soft personnel that managed to make the whole damn mess playable ON A PORTABLE CONSOLE with only very minor, barely noticeable issues. Like I said, they actually improved the graphics. So take it like you would with the Trails/Ys series. Especially for a guy like you, who has played RPGs since their humble origins, you should know better than to rise the graphic issue unless they are totally subpar and hinder the experience something bad.
your comment seems baby rage and you are trying issues because the hardware it is run on. If the hardware is the bottleneck then it shouldnt be released on it or at the very least not used as a justification
My dude, Eric, the “trackball” thingy to show you the way, is litteraly from Xenoblade Chronicles X. You definately need to play that game. I know it’s stuck on Wii U but it is my favorite XBC game, yeah, I said it. I really liked it. I have not started XBC3 yet but I will soon.
@@ltb1345 X is supposed to be a spin-off; the problem is that is wasn't marketed as such enough and it gave some people wrong expectations regarding the main serie. The problem being that X is VERY divisive by itself in the fandom. A lot of people wouldn't like it at all if the main serie was like it (the extreme focus on exploration in X is a good example; yes, a lot of people like xenoblade because of the exploration, but to a big part of the fandom the main story found the "sweet spot" regarding the exploration/story ratio, while X leans way too heavily on the open world-side. So making the main games like X would alienate a lot of fans). So some features not returning isn't that odd. It's just that they aren't that universally liked. X was a shoot in the dark to see how appreciated some things were and if it was worth it to implement them in the serie (there's no point in wasting thousands of dev. hours in complex systems if 3/4 of the players hate them), and it turned out to be divisive; the best xenoblade game ever for some, and the worst for others.
They did kind of rush over how the two worlds linked but I could make sense of it. It does remind me of Lorna in Xenoblade 2 and how they fleshed that out in the Torna DLC. I'm already excited to see what story content they add on for this one.
From my understanding it was the og world (earth) coming back together, with its two halves (bionis world/alrest) coming back together like matter and dark matter, with the ‘moebius’ freezing time right before the merge, and the destruction of moebius rewinding time prior to the merging
The rushing of it IS why it’s bad. The explanation for what’s going on is basically “shit just happened whoops”. My criticism of this part of the story is that it’s extremely short on details that I’d really like to know, and the details it does provide are just…lame? They’re just not interesting. The worlds just wanted to come back together. That’s it. And then right when they were about to, out of absolutely buttfuck nowhere, humanity’s fear manifests a Persona villain who freezes time and takes over control of the world, only he literally never once used his control over the world to stop the Ourobouros from trying to stop him, so okay. Sending Moebius after them doesn’t count, since you don’t need control of the world just to have henchmen. What’s the point of saying Origin controls the world if the only way to exert said control is by having a guy in a plastic action figure suit go rough people up for you? Anyways, yeah, compared to what Xenoblade 1 and 2 did, this game’s lore explanation for its world and villain are absolute fucking dogshit.
@@Tohlemiach that's a fair criticism. To me I took it as the two rifts created from the initiation of the first two games growing together due to how they came about and possibly being drawn back together as the original creator had been erased but I do feel if the first two games weren't completed by a player this story point would be even more underdeveloped. It would of been fine if they gave it literally 5 more minutes of explanation but they didn't. Still though this is one of my favourite RPGs I've played to date. I'm excited for the dlc content.
@@Tohlemiach someone clearly never went to physics class lmao. As the entire series is sci-fi and the writer has stated how he’s gone out of his way to incorporate real world concepts and theories as his building blocks, this is exactly what you should expect. Especially after seeing stuff like the architect in 2 being a literal culmination of this idea before 3 even starts. Call it boring or lame all you want, it’s just good and realistic writing. It’d be 10x more lame to have some goofy contrived thing like “this villain is super DUPER powerful and brought the worlds together, cause he’s the super secret 4th aegis and Klaus’ 3rd part of himself!” If you have any better ideas for a sensible world that works sensibly, legitimately tell me, but this sounds like reaching for a reason to dislike something perfectly fine due to an overactive imagination with what could’ve been lol Also “persona villain” manifested out of humanity’s fear? Feel like you misunderstood a good few things in this story, especially with his intentions, purpose, and capabilities. Definitely go back and check out the story again, cause it seems like you missed a good bit of it for both the main and side stuff Anyway yeah, compared to what Xenoblade 1 and 2 did, this game’s lore explanation for its world and villain are possibly the best and deeply written yet
@@marcrics this. People seem to forget that not only is at least half of this game’s world and character development through its side content, but this game absolutely relies on the first two for its story. Sure you can play it standalone and have a great story, but from the returning characters to the world to the concepts to the backstory to much more, everything is either elevated or entirely based around one’s experience with the previous entries Really glad it is tho, before it released I was worried they were gonna ignore too much of the top tier fiction the first two games built up for us
It was my first JRPG so I was not sure what to expect, I have to say I enjoyed the story but the seemingly neverending cutscenes were starting to drive me crazy after some time... there were moments where I just spent more time sitting in front of my TV watching continous cinematics in 2 hours than actually playing. I absolutely dig the class system, the skills and exploring the world. So I guess it will not be my last JRPG ^-^
One thing that I thought was really stupid about the games intro sequence is that in the intro you are able to kill a giant ass mech but after the intro in the same zone there is a Ropl that can one shot you just because it’s 40 levels above you. It’s like I get level scaling but cmon bruh
The graphics are fine. The frame rate is serviceable. It's definitely a slight upgrade from XB2 because there are no popups at all. To expect even more from a Switch is misguided.
Whoa this game has plenty pop up and the graphics are not that better than XB2. But yeah at least that game has better environments. Every environment XB3 is ugly, unimaginative and textures out of ps1 era. The graphics are not fine when people can say XB2 is better in most of the aspects
@@JetBlack2024 lol wtf game are you looking at? Both you an OP are blind af or daft af or both. XB3 is undoubtedly superior technical wise that 2 and it isn’t even close. If you are daft enough to say anything in 2 looks technically better you are trolling or haven’t played 2 in a long time. And the frame rate is very stable 90% of the time
tbf, I cant say the same about difficulty, I started playing it on hard difficulty and, with some exceptions (mostly in the early game), difficulty wasn't a real issue. But I can't say it was perfect, but that's what all this games tend to do on hard difficulty, early means no resources which means less ways to beat the boss and more rpg reliant strategies (Im looking straight to the 1st bossfight, that monster at the start of the game, unironically the hardest boss in the game for me).
I can definitely say I appreciate the new GPS feature. It’s one thing to know where to go, but it’s better to know how to get there. The graphics are not bad at all. My question for you are you playing it on an OLED? I’m not and I can see the increase in resolution. With an OLED I’ve heard from people who bought that it looks even better. If your comparing it to PS5 and XBSX then it may not look as good as those but that doesn’t change how I feel about the gameplay and I personally don’t think that hurts it at all. Of course that’s your opinion and I can respect it friend.
Hmmm.... My unterstanding of those 10 Terms is... those are actually 10 years... none before, none after. They are vat-grown, at least Keves, I suspect some surprise when I get farther into the story, and come mostly prepared and already with the fading symbol. I suspect 2 years of training before being assigned to a colony. considering Silvercoat Ethel, they are active within their 3rd term after all and in those story pieces of the training, they had already fading on their symbol... if my memory is not doing me a big disservice here.
No, they are assigned to a colony right in their first period. There they train and maybe they get transferred. The keves trio was in colony 14 at the start
13:30 on my v1 switch this section runs at locked 30 fps... are you using an slow sdcard for that to happen? Is it too hot that the system is somehow thermal throttling? The only area in the whole game I got framerate inconsistencies is Fornis.
It is a testament to how much I want to play the series that I sat through this entire review knowing I never will. I loved monolith for the Xenosaga series, and I WISH I could have played the Xenoblade series. I can't justify buying a Switch just for a single game - or trilogy, but if I ever COULD, it would be for this one.
Well, considering I've easily gotten over 1,000 hours out of the trilogy, those three games alone would have made a Switch worth if for me even if I own more games for it. So I'd say, if you think 3 100+ hour rpgs with great gameplay all-around are worth $400 or so (for the console and all three titles) then I suggest picking it up. The Switch has other great games too.
@@Ultinarok47 That is an entirely fair point. That's more, if Bamko ever daines to release the Xenosaga series on modern consoles, it'll probably be a Nintendo one, and I very well may give in at that point since that trilogy is my favorite game story of all time - yes even more than Xenogears. a thousan hours though ... that's ... actually a little overwhelming. I just finished persona 5 Royal for the first time and that took me 140 hours ... I've learned I really don't need or want a JRPG THAT long. based on how many hours you have sunk into the series though, it absolutely sounds like it was worth it.
@@LoneWolfAudio0524 1000 hours is all 3 games combined and absolutely 100% maxed out, well beyond just "getting all items" or beating the game. Like, totally Min maxing all characters and gameplay components. You can do most of the games and just clear them in about 100 hours each, maybe 200 if you do as much as possible in 2 or 3. I'm an exception, not the norm lol
@@Ultinarok47 wow. Well, it’s certainly a testament to the quality of the game that you’ve been OK putting that much time into it. :-) Certainly 100 hours is much more reasonable. Perhaps one day I will make the plunge and try them out.
whats up eric, im glad you also appreciated the story and characters. I felt so invested in them and definitely one of the best jrpgs story i have played in a while. I also enjoyed story of Ys8 and Ys9
at least the game gives a limited option to bypass the class leveling grind which I don't mind since i can just east a CP boosting meal and fight and Elite or unique enemy. So far, the most difficult I've had was the consul in Zeon's hero quest when I felt forced to run 3 healers in the main for just that one fight. apparently thats a recommend thing on not just hard, but even normal difficulty. Finding ways to abuse the chain attack does make things a lot easier. Just have the thoughts of "can i get an optimal chain attack with favorable RNG before the boss kills me" "and which members should I prioritize reuse in chain attacks."
I really have loved the story for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I'm not saying 2 was bad but it didn't grip me like this one has. I have a hard time putting it down I enjoy it that much.
Allright we need to talk about Xenoblade 3,starting with its japanese dubbing. Z's japanese voice actor was also voices kamen rider saber's equipments and seiken swordriver.
In Xenoblade 3 ending, wee see Rex grows up from almost 5 feet tall boy to over 6 feet tall gigachad who marries Pyra,Mythra, and Nia at once while getting a child from each girls. We didn't knew what their names are at the time xenoblade 3 ends, but i'm going to cover their names as Rekka,Ikazuchi, and Nagare, respectively. Oh btw i got one more theory. Were both Lion Senki and King Lion Daisenki Bromarch's sons? They're lions too,but if you still don't(and can't) understand 'bout what i'm talking about search an article named kamen rider saber for more details and infos.
when you have a great art direction graphics don't mean shit to me. well they matter to an extent but man there are absolutely beautiful areas with amazing sites to behold in the distance plus the interior of certain areas are incredibly complex looking
The graphics are insane for a Switch game, considering the minimal load times as well. The game does suffer from memory leaks, but it's easy to circumvent by closing the game and or turning the switch off completely(by holding the power button) once you're done playing. I also don't see how it's a JRPG plot? I thought it was a very well done Sci-Fi.
Yeah, most RPGs with any plot that isn't just open world radiant quests or Dark Souls-esque can be categorized as a JRPG nowadays (and even some of the former can fit that category too). That term doesn't really carry the weight that it used to, especially with the Westernization of the subgenre.
Speaking of Ouroboros, I finally finished the first Trails in the Sky game and starting the second one. I'm not going to play XBC 3 until I finish the Trails in the Sky series.
Im are playing the gama and prefer the system game of XC 2, i miss destroy the elemental spheres and change the blades to complete a combo, but yet i like this new game. The history is amzing. P.D. thanks for the spoiler about the two last heroes 😢
I love this game but my issue is that it is a horrible sequel. By the end of the game I still feel like we are waiting for a follow up to 1&2. It feels like it’s actively trying to distance itself from 1&2 and for a game that is billing itself as the conclusion to the saga, that is a HUGE let down.
Now that fight at around 11:30 is the one true bullshit fight in the entire game for me. Everything else you can beat on hard without levelling too much. But these guys, summoning enemy after enemy... nah man
I really liked the setting for this game and felt like my mission to fix the world was the first time in a long time i wanted to finish the game because i was invested in the story. I don't know what happened but the game about 1/3 through felt like the dark setting was cut out of the game. I don't know why but as the game went on all the characters lost their purpose. My other probelm was Senna was my favorite character and yet both her ark and side story wasn't even bout her. It was about some random girl who wasn't really even in the game other than guiding you to a city for a short time. Also all the good outfits seem to be locked behind future DLC. I liked the game but again half way through a story that i was heavily invested in i started not to care about and skipped most of the cut scenes. After two iconic characters had their epic mec battle the game seemed to have lost its way. Combat was amazing. enemies had outstanding character models. I don't know how they get this game to look so good on the switch.
@@somethingelse4282 Yeah You can actually rush through the main story pretty quick. If you're planning on doing a lot of the side content though, then it becomes way longer. I've done probably around 70% of the quests and am near the end of the game. I already about 120 hours on the game.
@@somethingelse4282 true, but the side content is practically mandatory if you are there for the story. A possible majority of the character and world development is done there
you know, the graphics never really bothered me, i mean yea, a minor fps drop here and there, but who cares, for the most part, ran well, looked great..to me
Finished it today. I olso think that there is olmost no revelations in ending scene where in previous game it was time for biggest revelations. Plot is great but there is olmost no information about past.
can't really fault monolithsoft for the graphics.. i play on handheld mode on my oled model and yes i exprience very low textures.. but i can still see that monolithsoft really did put the effort to make this a high quality game despite of the HARDWARE LIMITATIONS.. so despite the "ugliness" of not being able to run in native resolution i can still say this one of the most beautiful looking jrpg i ever played.. i can only imagine if only the switch was capable of running this on native 1080p/720p.. sigh.. if only we have a switch pro.. and about the framerate i only encountered noticeable frame dips during battles with multiple enemies.. and actually it feels intentional or like a mild slow mo effect so that we can chain attack more effectively..
One thing did 3 good at is, the save system, they have 5, i use auti and quickmsave often as may milestone, and 3 slot below, as main save. I plan for the second slot for NewGame plus, which id like to play without erasing my prev save,
Honestly I'm fine with the graphics, its because prefer the art direction and the design of the environment than purely on graphics. Also while the texture are dated it's still a miracle that the game still runs on the switch.
My most issues I had with the game is .. mostly the side content and hero quests. Because they just do not fit well into their overall world setup. Making the whole content kind of feeling out of place and giving a clear vibe of: okay, we had to fill in content Graphical stuff i can ignore, doesnt bother me too much, but also didn't bother me in the past. The switch after all is a useless piece of hardware and a game like this is just heavily shackled by its hardware. Another gripe I do have, but also of my own making: The sea map nearly broke me. Up to that point I did 100%, that Map is just .. too much. And thats also the point when the side content flaws became very apparent. I do feel like some QoL features are missing, like when you already found items, given their quest design, just please have the location noted down somewhere. The maps are huge and finding something you need to find, even if you already found it somewhen in the past is nearly impossible without asking the internet. Could easily be fixed ingame. And my last gripe: the AI is horrible of your party members. If they tank, they do a shitty job of drawing aggro (or pretty much just using actions when they are available). Similar to healers .. Thats all the AI would have to do, to not suck, but it doesn't. Heal actions usually come out very rarely and as such .. the AI healers are very insufficient and you need to stack more ai healers in your party for things you could solo heal when playing the healer yourself. Not sure what the heck went wrong there. Sometimes though, an AI healer is on top of their game, but thats rather an exception than the norm.
I watch the video of your second channel first and then this one. I still don t what the problem that you have with the graphics of this game but for the other negatives (and the positives) I agree with you, except in story because I still need to progress in that front. Exploration is absorbing my time
The graphics aren't Monolithsoft's fault, it's Nintendo prioritizing gimmicks over power with their consoles. The Switch is essentially a portable PS3. Knowing that, I didn't mind the graphics in this game, and in fact I thought they looked better than in Xenoblade 2. I still think Xenoblade 1 has the best story and Xenoblade X has the best gameplay, but 3 definitely comes in second place for me in both those regards.
I laughed at portable ps3. Not even close, the ps3 barely has 512 of ram while the switch has a whooping 4 gigs, and with a more advanced graphics card. If you think the PS3 can run The Witcher 3 you are delusional. Just test games like Dragon's Dogma on both systems, the difference is like night and day.
Love it overall too, though it definitely has some interface issues and don't like the super spongey enemies that much in addition to the few things you mentioned. But one of the best written JRPGs I've played in a while, almost up there with FF14 imo
I mean if the enemies weren’t spongey the fights would be so easy, towards the end of the game I could barely ever use chain attacks or interlink past level 1 because the fights would be over in 25 seconds.
I really truly LOVE this game. The first two didn't work for me so I think this entry is going to get them a lot of new fans. Also, this game looks WAAAYY better than 2. I'm honestly shocked that you don't see how much better this game looks than the last one. I couldn't even play 2 handheld due to the resolution. I find 3 to be a very pretty game handheld.
My two complaint about this game is that some Side Quests missions should've been a Main Story one and some Main story quests should've been a side quest one.. Cause some of this side quests really help fleshes out some characters and events in the world.. (Especially the beginning colonies and the later ones) There's alot of side quests in this game and it can overwhelm you specially with Levels if you're not careful and can make some fights trivial even at hard mode..... Which leads me to my 2nd criticism, Why I cannot rollback my level in a fresh save file?? It should've been an option from the start so that player can do side quest in their own pace and readjust their level for the Main Quest to make boss fights relevant and interesting still..
Yeah, pretty much every "side story: [x]" should have been part of the main quest. You're really missing a TON if you don't do them, and if you wait too long to do them is just feel weird because you're steamrolling what should be main quest events. Eunie and Taion come to mind here.
@@tsukicat3143 Yup agree with the Side quest of the Main Cast they should've been in the Main story.. The issue is that most of them are unlocked very late in the game.. The one I missed was Sena's and Lanz's one and since everything that happened in the game ****Spoiler***** was all crafted and timed before your invasion of the final dungeon hence some bosses will appear and the events in the overworld will suddenly gets mixed up..
I haven’t finished the game just yet, I’m in Ch. 6 and trying to explore the world some after 55 hours of more or less beelining the main quest with minor breaks for hero quests and unique monsters, and I’m definitely hooked, but XC3 feels somehow less ambitious than its predecessors, _especially_ XC2.
What do you think about Noah as a protagonist(you or anyone else)? I’m midway through chapter 5 and I feel that he hasn’t gotten much focus and at times Taion feels like more of a lead (lol). I have this suspicion that they’re going to focus on him more later on though, everyone else has gotten their focus.
To be honest there is very very little wrong with this game. I can really only think of two problems... 1: it is a "little" too easy. Could have been a little harder, most of the time unless you go fight stuff you can clearly tell you aren't ready for you will be coasting mostly. 2: It is too hand holdy. You will be like 5 hours into the game before the insane level of tutorializing finally stops. It is great and all and makes it easy to get into the game but for real they went a little too far. 3: It (just like all the xenoblade games) is maybe a little too side quest heavy. Though it is not as bad as the previous two. That's basically it.... three minor complaints. Graphics wise honestly all of it can be explained by two words. Nintendo Switch.
Personally I thought the main plot took too long to get going. It starts strong with chapter one, then chapter 2 to the end of 4 is just going from place to place, liberating colonies and fighting cackling consuls. Who are the Mobius? What do they want? Who's Z? Why are Keves and Agnus fighting? What is the eclipse? What is the Black fog? What causes annihilation events? What are ouroboros really? We got so many questions early and basically no answers for several chapters, some questions never even get answered. The ending also felt flat and the main villain was one of the largest let downs ever.
I really enjoy your content, there is a game that really marked me for some reasons, its a ps2 trpg called stella deus the gate of eternity, i dont know if u already reviewed it if so could you send a link please , if not i would love to see you review that game 😬.
I just reached chapter 5 yesterday and have been loving this game so far, definitely more than XC2, but my biggest issue with the game has to be the side quests. Some of them have outrageous requirements, like collecting 200 items that can only be found on the ground in one region. Absolute nonsense. Aside from that, my only real complaint is that there are some scenes that feel like they should have been voiced but aren't, which feel incredibly jarring when you run into them and aren't able to have the intended emotional reaction because the dialog is all text but still presented with camera transitions that you only expect from fully voiced scenes. Regardless, Lanz and Eunie are my favorite party members ever lol
You're probably talking about the Colony Tau quest and quests like that have NPCs that literally give you some of the items for free and the Ferronis Hulk fabricators also give you them too sometimes.
The majority of side quests are actually really simple to complete. I've done like 80% of them and not a single one has taken me over 30 minutes to complete. Also some of the voiced side quests have stories that are better than some main stories in other jrpgs. I'd say from what I've played this game has some of the best side quests I've seen in a jrpg.
I'd say the weakest part of 1 and 2 is the side quests and 3 actually improved them significantly. Jesus christ in 2 there was the whole equipping unequipping blades malarkey and how field skills had to pop up every single time. At least now, item pick up is quick and there are ways to get lots of items quickly. The only semi decent quests in 2 were the blade quests, which if I'm being honest most of them were lackluster, boring or just generally not that engaging or poorly voiced. In 3, the hero quests are much better imo and your party members actually have quests, weird that blades like bridgid, mythra, pandoria never got blade quests.
My main problem in 3 is that some if not all of the Hero quests should have just been incorporated into the main story. There was no reason for them to be side quests. Also, some feel completely out of place. Like how literally right after saying, "We can't take this route, let's go around." You proceed to charge the front gates with Ashera. Also, why the hell were the other 4 main character side stories not in the main story. It makes no sense. Eunie literally has a confrontation with X. One of the MAIN MOEBIUS. Practically the only time we actually get to know her is in a SIDE STORY. Then there's Sena's bullshit with Shania. Garvel is basically fucking irrelevant unless you do Lanz's. Also, finding the secret colony should have been way more important and they basically have Villager A as a commander like wtf. I feel like the Hero Quests should've been like Valdi's where the party tries to avoid things but just "happens to get involved" on the way to the destination rather than backtracking. Especially, considering the plot is literally on a time limit. The first act should've been composed of getting Ouroboros powers and then after getting chased down by Colonies Gamma and 9 they inadvertently free them. Only then do the Consul's decide Silvercoat Ethel should be sent after them. It just feels so weird. I feel like the only optional ones should have been Fiona, Triton, Alexandria, and Segiri and only available after Agnes Castle or something.
@@CalebPorter1105 I kinda get you point with some of the quests, but I definitely don't think that nearly all the hero quests should be part of the main story, as It would make the main story feel super padded with filler and for people who just want to do the main story it would be a huge issue. Also I think that a part of the charm for a lot of the hero quests is that you get really well rewarded for exploration as you can kind of stumble on multiple unique colonies and top tier side stories just by going to a place that seems interesting and if most of them were a part of the main quest it would lose a lot of the charm that the exploration in the game has. I do agree with you that the main character side stories should've been a part of the main quest though, but I don't think it's a huge issue either way.
The graphics are definitely a step down. They tried to go for realism but the switch just can't do it. I think the art from 2 is more stylistic which will age better.
I believe Xenoblade chronicles 3 is more of a failure compared to the others, but in its own right its good game just not as good as Xenoblade 1 ,2 and especially X 3 does have a decent storyline but I felt 2 had the best one overall because its a continuous story from xenoblade 1 technically. in Xenoblade 3 the characters aren't as cool as what you can recruit in 2. 2 had by far the best character designs and overall story hit me the most, more than 3 actually because Xenoblade chronicles 2 with Jin man that background story is dark as fuck.
Great review, tho the complaint about the story is just kinda wrong. I can get why someone would have those complaints if they didn’t do any side content or didn’t play the previous games, but given that he at least did the first 2 games, he shouldn’t have the questions he does. That and the tropes aren’t really there, with all the friendship stuff genuinely being a danger to the people involved (interlinking) and no “killing god” stuff. It’s not just a “good jrpg plot,” it’s simply a good plot, just like the previous 2 top tier stories from this series
7:32 this is the one thing I don’t like, I think the only reason why they game enemies so much HP is so other characters in your party will have a chance to grind for levels. But This can get so tiring and repetitive.
This is my favorite game in the franchise, no contest... It's not perfect, but whatever flaws it has either makes sense to me, or i just don't care enough about to complain!

@@GalanOfTruth oh absolutely, definitely love to see that and I’m glad some reviewers can still do that, regardless of what their takes are
My complaints about the game after 180h are:
- too grindy, actually its grindy AF, so dependant on drops or collectibles but there is a limit of 99 to hold at a time
- nopon coins are shit, again, limited to 99, but you need hundreds of them, while also getting them is grindy AF
- Characters are slow and the traversal buffs are gated behind ranks with colonies, but getting those ranks is also a pain in the ass
To sum it up, I can live with everything, but that grinding style needs to stop.....

@@ddrrdd1010 Same
I quit 2 after about 8 hours, just couldn't get into it but 3 has been a great time
Yes, I love 3. Enjoyed xenoblade definitive edition but despised 2 and torna, 3 though has me hooked and I'm soooo pleasantly surprised by that.

66
Before this came out, which game had the best job system for you?
@@michaele.1843 probably either Bravely Default or Yakuza Like a Dragon

@@badlatency9979 I don't see the "bad graphics" either.
It looks amazing

@@fanmovie357 it is actually very similar to xenogears in some aspects. Not going to spoil anything, but the protagonists Noah and Mio have similarities with Fei and Elly.

Yup, wish Monolith had better hardware to work on. I hope XC4 is on the successor of the Switch so it can really shine.

X is the best.
Agreed, X introduced a lot of awesome gameplay and exploration features that oddly didn't return to the series until 3.
still hoping they remake XBCX for next year, just like how they release XBCDE after they release XBC2
It's been 8 months, getting hyped for another playthrough of XBC:3 and watching this review to get there. Thanks dude!
Best jrpg since many years. Chapter 5 80 hours in dificult mold just a masterpiece
It’d be 10x more lame to have some goofy contrived thing like “this villain is super DUPER powerful and brought the worlds together, cause he’s the super secret 4th aegis and Klaus’ 3rd part of himself!” If you have any better ideas for a sensible world that works sensibly, legitimately tell me, but this sounds like reaching for a reason to dislike something perfectly fine due to an overactive imagination with what could’ve been lol
Also “persona villain” manifested out of humanity’s fear? Feel like you misunderstood a good few things in this story, especially with his intentions, purpose, and capabilities. Definitely go back and check out the story again, cause it seems like you missed a good bit of it for both the main and side stuff
Anyway yeah, compared to what Xenoblade 1 and 2 did, this game’s lore explanation for its world and villain are possibly the best and deeply written yet
@@marcrics this. People seem to forget that not only is at least half of this game’s world and character development through its side content, but this game absolutely relies on the first two for its story. Whoa this game has plenty pop up and the graphics are not that better than XB2. But yeah at least that game has better environments. Every environment XB3 is ugly, unimaginative and textures out of ps1 era. The graphics are not fine when people can say XB2 is better in most of the aspects
No they aren't... it being kept hostage on Switch is exactly the problem.

@@vkjfsdg Nintendo is literally the only company not releasing to PC, so…
tbf, I cant say the same about difficulty, I started playing it on hard difficulty and, with some exceptions (mostly in the early game), difficulty wasn't a real issue. But I can't say it was perfect, but that's what all this games tend to do on hard difficulty, early means no resources which means less ways to beat the boss and more rpg reliant strategies (Im looking straight to the 1st bossfight, that monster at the start of the game, unironically the hardest boss in the game for me).
I dislike the fact that the menu's bgm cuts the map's bgm. But it's a masterpiece anyway..
1:06 I was LITERALLY playing Trails in the Sky SC last night so that disclaimer made me laugh quite a bit 😂
where can I get that edelgard t-shirt?
No that’s correct
No, they are assigned to a colony right in their first period.
There they train and maybe they get transferred.
The keves trio was in colony 14 at the start
The only big issue I have with the game is many times during combats the game suddenly slow down and I miss my cancel it's really annoying.

on my v1 switch this section runs at locked 30 fps...
are you using an slow sdcard for that to happen?
Perhaps one day I will make the plunge and try them out.
have been a fan of the series since xenogears! cant wait to pick this up! great video friend!
Hi Eric i need to know who is that character on Your shirt!! 🥺
whats up eric, im glad you also appreciated the story and characters. I felt so invested in them and definitely one of the best jrpgs story i have played in a while. I also enjoyed story of Ys8 and Ys9
I REALLY want to play this game but haven't played the 1st and 2nd game yet :(
Is it necessary to play previous games before?
Just as a warning, there are some end game spoilers at 9:48
at least the game gives a limited option to bypass the class leveling grind which I don't mind since i can just east a CP boosting meal and fight and Elite or unique enemy.
Finished the game last night, loved the game but the story wasn't as good as the previous 2. Prepping for my review this week.
Best game in the franchise, always looking forward to playing it after taking 15-30 minute breaks.
Where did you get your shirt?
when you have a great art direction graphics don't mean shit to me. well they matter to an extent but man there are absolutely beautiful areas with amazing sites to behold in the distance plus the interior of certain areas are incredibly complex looking
There is an item which you can buy for noppon coins, than every party member can revive
How did you manage to beat it in two weeks?!? Also, "Keves" means "Sheep" in Hebrew, so it's like Agnus, just in another language!
I beat it in about 8 days.
To beat the game you need like 60 hours, manageable with 2 weeks
@@somethingelse4282 Yeah You can actually rush through the main story pretty quick. If you're planning on doing a lot of the side content though, then it becomes way longer. I've done probably around 70% of the quests and am near the end of the game. I already about 120 hours on the game.
@@somethingelse4282 true, but the side content is practically mandatory if you are there for the story. A possible majority of the character and world development is done there
Nice,so its a Xenogears reference. Plot are very similar too...
Great channel bro! Love the content. I have just started chapter 6. WOW!
can i play 3 without having played the other games?
yes! Erick Landon RPG xenoblade 3 review, let's begin!!
you know, the graphics never really bothered me, i mean yea, a minor fps drop here and there, but who cares, for the most part, ran well, looked great..to me
did u skip hero and side quests? Or focused on the main quests only?
I love how this game can pull philosophies that make most stories feel pretentious, but here’s it’s relatable.
chapter 5 will go down as one of the strongest chapters in any JRPG for me
The wife swap
Finished it today. I olso think that there is olmost no revelations in ending scene where in previous game it was time for biggest revelations. Plot is great but there is olmost no information about past.
Imagine comparing this to Xenoblade 2 in handheld mode 😳
Other than that part, I agree with your opinions for the most part 👍
can't really fault monolithsoft for the graphics.. i play on handheld mode on my oled model and yes i exprience very low textures.. but i can still see that monolithsoft really did put the effort to make this a high quality game despite of the HARDWARE LIMITATIONS.. so despite the "ugliness" of not being able to run in native resolution i can still say this one of the most beautiful looking jrpg i ever played.. i can only imagine if only the switch was capable of running this on native 1080p/720p.. sigh.. if only we have a switch pro.. and about the framerate i only encountered noticeable frame dips during battles with multiple enemies.. and actually it feels intentional or like a mild slow mo effect so that we can chain attack more effectively..
"I'm looking at you Valdi!"
Did somebody say "Shackle Healers"?
My most issues I had with the game is .. mostly the side content and hero quests.
Because they just do not fit well into their overall world setup. Making the whole content kind of feeling out of place and giving a clear vibe of: okay, we had to fill in content
Graphical stuff i can ignore, doesnt bother me too much, but also didn't bother me in the past.
Exploration is absorbing my time
What level did you finish at and how many hours?
The graphics aren't Monolithsoft's fault, it's Nintendo prioritizing gimmicks over power with their consoles. The Switch is essentially a portable PS3. Knowing that, I didn't mind the graphics in this game, and in fact I thought they looked better than in Xenoblade 2. I still think Xenoblade 1 has the best story and Xenoblade X has the best gameplay, but 3 definitely comes in second place for me in both those regards.
You two are aware that the other consoles use gimmicks as well? That even going with power could be considered a gimmick?
I laughed at portable ps3. Not even close, the ps3 barely has 512 of ram while the switch has a whooping 4 gigs, and with a more advanced graphics card. If you think the PS3 can run The Witcher 3 you are delusional. Just test games like Dragon's Dogma on both systems, the difference is like night and day.
My favorite game all year. I wasn’t too into Elden ring, but I still think it deserves game if the year. 2nd place goes too Xeonblade
Phenomenal game and phenomenal review. Loving the game so far.
Phenomenal
You have to be kidding with this hilariously goofy misspelling.
Yeah thank you for the correction and sorry but english is not my first language. :)
(Especially the beginning colonies and the later ones)
There's alot of side quests in this game and it can overwhelm you specially with Levels if you're not careful and can make some fights trivial even at hard mode.....
40 hours and I love this game!
In glad Erik enjoys it no matter how it turned out. Monolith does so well💖💞
My favorite game this year so far, but some strong competition is coming...
What do you think about Noah as a protagonist(you or anyone else)? I’m midway through chapter 5 and I feel that he hasn’t gotten much focus and at times Taion feels like more of a lead (lol). I have this suspicion that they’re going to focus on him more later on though, everyone else has gotten their focus.
dont worry lol, just keep playing
@@joshh9940 dope lol will do
Noah doesn't really get to shine until the back half of the game. Trust me, he'll start getting very good in chapters 5 and 6.
@@Danb-fk5iw Yeah I strongly agree. I just got to chapter 6. Sheesh.
Am I fucking blind or does the game look that bad to people? Cause to me it looks great.
Enjoying this on my Crystal Samsung tv this is my first Xenoblade 😊😉
Is it with spoilers or spoiler-free video (up to Chapter 3)? I believe I won't watch it but I want to tho.
His, spoken review is mostly spoiler free but the subtitles of what the characters are saying are a bit spoliery IMO
@@rmgb-tv Ok, thanks very much.
7:52, Xenoblade 2 is the only game that really had that issue IMO.
The ending also felt flat and the main villain was one of the largest let downs ever.
this game is like a bar fight...dont worry about who you hittin...just start swinging 🤣
How long is this main story ?
Strictly the main story will take about 45 hours
He forgot to say how long it took him. I wonder if he also did 40 hours like other games.
So xenoblade one and two worlds collides and basically that's how certain things came to be at least to my understanding.
Please tell me the combat is faster than in 2 fights took forever
About the same, if not a little slower. From what I have played around 15 hours.
@@brock2443 Dude, it's definitely faster.
@@lucasrinaldi9909 I disagree, 2 was faster if you knew how to play.

I personally hated that game
@@Gairith thanks i will check that 👍🏼
I just reached chapter 5 yesterday and have been loving this game so far, definitely more than XC2, but my biggest issue with the game has to be the side quests.
I blame the visuals on Nintendo. Monolith is pushing that Tegra chip till it explodes. Monolith’s biggest restrictions is the hardware in my opinion.
YUS, Eunie‘s the Baws!
Nice try Joran
@@Gairith ?
The graphics wasn't that bad.... What really bugs me are the large number of long melodramatic cutscenes.
Does this video have spoilers
7:32 this is the one thing I don’t like, I think the only reason why they game enemies so much HP is so other characters in your party will have a chance to grind for levels. But This can get so tiring and repetitive.
This is my favorite game in the franchise, no contest...
It's not perfect, but whatever flaws it has either makes sense to me, or i just don't care enough about to complain!
