Finally a video showing what this thing can do! I hate it when people demo a WORKSTATION and all they play is the piano sounds and the bass sounds. Like really? Great job Katsunori!
I brought the moxf6 bout 2plus months ago man it's awesome, I still have my mmo6 too I work off both of them the piano sounds on the moxf6 are beautiful, I be in awe when I am working on it it's a must have.
Played the MOXF8 yesterday at Guitar Center and the weighted keys feel great (better than the Krome I also played) and its sounds are first rate. Much larger library than my MX49 with some terrific AP, EP, brass, strings, and synth sounds. Thanks for the review.
Lol... to my ears was the opportune word. I would not say the are exactly the same as they have different key beds and that can play a role to a small degree. To get to a lower price point involves cuts in areas such as processing power, materials used, key bed etc. The MOXF does give you the option to load in samples once you have installed the card. Thanks for your question here and in another earlier post. Questions are good and glad you feel so compelled to ask.
Mr UJIIE San you are in my humble opinion an absolutely amazing musician and demonstrator, a joy to listen to you play and compose, and explain things so well. That piano section you composed at around 16.50 ? (step recording section) is absolute and pure dynamite, I am in total awe. Thank you very much for your demonstrations, many thanks, Luke (pro sax player and mediocre keyboard player)
I got this beauty about 2 weeks ago, and I still haven't gone through everything in it. I love the sounds, especially the guitars (which I'm trying to use much more in these compositions). But what I really love are the performances and the ability to seamlessly transition from one arpeggio to another, and to be able to create your own. It's just way too fun. Thanks Katsunori for uploading this. Since your MOX demo I've been hooked, but I was hoping you'd demo this soon after it came out.
I cant tell you how awesome it is watching this gentlemen. Though im english usa i love these videos he does. I read subtitles lol. I think he would make the best teacher for students. Lol. On top of that i am awaiting on my moxf6 too. Thursday or friday. Woohoo. So i wonder if in cubase we can snag patches to use in the program? Also i see we have to actually buy the gig flash card?? I thought it came with it. Anyway. Thats cool. Ill find one. I dont want to ever run out of new patches. I think i am going to be happy.
Got mine. Last week. I bought some monitors. I'm about broke. Lol. Let me give you a true non biased opinion. Sounds? Unbelieveable! Knowing I can add, more? Frickin insane. I like everything but. The plastic on sides are really creaky. But i guess it's part of portability. The ac adapter. Omg it's a toy charger. Lol. Can not win them all. But keybed is "ok" but i need to change velocity. I have to nail them to get the effect. Lol. Other than that I'm good. I love it. It's not hard to figure it out. I just read up and have the sequencer down. Etc. You sir will be exited. Now to sell my awesome sy77. It is huge and we'll built. Heavy. The anvil flight case is heavy too. Anvil 2. Ot was several hundred. Lol. Going to sell them at 400 for all.
Robert Clark Hey Robert, Thanks for your response. Only reason I bought this board is because I am familiar with the Motif line and its Quality in sound. As I had previously owned a Motif 6 classic for 5 years and sold it a year ago. When it comes to keyboards I turn to Yamaha and know they don't disappoint! Even the damn $99.99 Board from Yamaha has great sounding voices. -Chris
This is a great instrument, no doubt. Swaths of wave memory, multimode filters, modeled effects, etc. The only problem is that I can pick up an SY99 for below $1000, which gives me FM and oozes of quality and great looks, has aftertouch, and quite amazing sounding effects. So, that's my dilemma here. How in the world would I spent more on a budget instrument if I can have flagship high-end for less?
max5250 I think comparing two musical instruments within the same price range makes much sense. And no, I am not kidding. Although I am biased, I must admit, as my personal preference for electronic keyboard instruments design is about between 1987-1991. Some prefer earlier analog designs, others prefer latest (not always greatest) designs. For each its own.
Andrew Piatek I totally agree with you, but old synths like this, no matter how good they were built, are prone to malfunctions and if you don't have knowledge and resources to fix it soon you might end with quite heavy paperweight. ;-). For an average user, new synth is much better choice, and for biased one there is now dilemma (one will buy older stuff no matter consequences).
max5250 You got a point here. Initial cost of a new Camry or a 25 old Bentley might be the same, but it's not to say that the later is a better choice, because of obvious sky high maintenance cost. Some keyboards have problems. For instance Roland U-20/D-70 are notorious for bad key contacts. Yamaha SY77/SY99, even though the key beds seem to last forever, the LCD backlights tend to go dim and disk drive belts break. It took me five hours to disassemble SY77 and assemble it back, just to replace LCD backlight. And I didn't get it right. I needed to disassemble it four more times to get the LCD light settled properly. So, it requires dedication, yes. Money? Not that much. More time than money, I'd say. But in my case, I'll do everything for the sake of beauty :) 'cause I am a total sucker for keyboards from the early digital era. But yeah, for a new user, the new keyboard is probably a better choice, 'cause you can give it back to dealer if something doesn't work. I haven't even thought about it. Thanks for educating me here. Being less ignorant towards others help.
It's been over a month since I've owned this bad boy, what an amazing keyboard!!!! And the integration with cubase is ridiculously tight. The only cons are the small screen and cheap pitch/mod wheels, but if you can overlook that this thing is a real deal!!
Kronos not much technically superior over Yamaha MOXF on ARP. But the price !!! It looks like MOXF beats for the price. For sure, Kronos has more flexibility and opportunities. But by ear, MOXF does almost the same things by the thru a couple good twists. :-)
That's a good point. Though the selling point, in my opinion, for the FA series is the ability to sample on a keyboard in the same price range as the MOXF. And that's a pretty big thing, IF you're planning on using it.
Chaotichism yepp you are right. the sampling and exporting of loops and stuff is really nice . i know the integra 7 (?) and i liked the sounds there but when i hear all the fa-06 demos i am like arrgh - not sure. maybe i will check the fa06 and moxf in a store to compare it....
We need to put the FA-06 /Moxf6 side by side to hear the difference.. a lot has to do with the effects on each synth..I own the MOXF8… I'll be getting the FA-06 due to its Sampling Features… sound wise, I think the Supernatural sounds are pretty high quality..unless we turn off the effects & hear the raw samples..The Korg Krome has the Master & Total effect buttons to switch ON/OFF which we can hear sounds in a raw state. Effects always color a sound too much.
jantristian i record into my daw so i do not really need the sampling function to edit stuff...so this will not make me buy the fa....and when it comes to the youtube demos i think the mofx sounded better...don´t know exactly why...still have to check them at a store....
***** The sampling is more for on-the-go use - rather than having to lug your computer around, it can do so in the workstation. But if the computer's part of your setup, then it really isn't necessary. Your best bet, though, is to find a store that actually has both demos out and play with them, as you said. I haven't seen any stores with the FA out, though, so you may have to wait a bit.
It's not stupid keyboard. It's amazing soundbox, small, slim. Sounds are so good at this price $1200 (Sweetwater). Trust me, the voices mostly come from Motif XF and beat Krome. Guitars, Brass, Flutes, EP are somehow better even Kronos. Asian, Epic sounds are better Kronos.
The arpeggiators and canned accompaniments are what I love most about this keyboard. I need that for live solo performances. It's great fun to be able to improvise along with accompaniment. You can create your own arpeggios to accompany yourself also.
emilshere I agree completely, have you looked at the FA-08 at all? So far I'm not that impressed with Roland's new ax... I was tempted to grab a used Fantom G8, but it's too heavy, too old, too complex. Roland can get me lost, still finding out stuff about my old Roland gear (XV-5080 & XP-80), but now I need some new inspiration, without spending a ton of cash...
i absolutely love this guy. Enjoy his playing comments and enthusiasm so much. If he doesnt inspire you no one will !
Finally a video showing what this thing can do! I hate it when people demo a WORKSTATION and all they play is the piano sounds and the bass sounds. Like really? Great job Katsunori!
YES. AGREE WITH YOU
Finally an excellent demo of this keyboard
Ohhhhh finally a musician who doesn't make you hear just the usual piano, clavinet, organ. Thanks
I brought the moxf6 bout 2plus months ago man it's awesome, I still have my mmo6 too I work off both of them the piano sounds on the moxf6 are beautiful, I be in awe when I am working on it it's a must have.

I love you, Katsunori ! You're a good musician and showman !
My favourite demonstrator! The playing is great and the sound is good with maybe a little less sparkle then the Motif XF to my ears.

English sub-title is available now ;)
I love your videos! Sugoi!!!~
It’s still showing only Japanese subtitles

Great demo of a great instrument. Excellent information and talented playing!
Bought an MOXF6 today. awesome synth =)
I love how you used the step recording, very clever!
MOXFの動画待ってました! ありがとうございます!!

Awesome bro indeed. Love yamaha. Wanting a drum kit too from them. High but sound great.
Robert Clark
Спасибо!
great keyboard., I want one.
Also I'd love to see a Yamaha Tyros 5 Demo by Ujie.
10.50 sounds like coldplay and 11.20 looks like you have cat whiskers lol :)
The beast 👌🏽
excellent sounds but how could you play this keyboard like an arranger ??
Nice as always !

You must be kidding right?
Comparing 25 years old flagship with current budget synth doesn't make much sense.

Yash Chauhan I'm looking for a cheap laptop for now. I hope 4gig ram will be enough. It says 1 gig but you know how that goes. Lol.
Robert Clark Robert...haha it's nice to read this after getting to know you.

What MOXF mean?
Urgently needs to learn the Japanese language...
What a stupid instrument with all these canned performances. Ujiie is still the man though.
