as much as I like the new design I think I'll stick with the less expensive classics. I just don't feel comfortable walking around in snickers that are over 40-50 dollars and besides the older and beat up they get the more sentimental they are

I wish Converse was still made in the USA because Nike just made the Chuck Taylor's uncomfortable and the materiel is bad. Chuck 70s is a step in the right direction.

I'm not a fan of Chucks II myself but without Nike, Converse was just history.
I don't find any difference between classic Chucks made in the US and Chucks Nike era (after Nike acquire Converse in 2003). I currently have 12 pairs, including the 70s & limited, made in Asian countries.
Crap Crab Then you would know that the materials are better and they are more comfortable. They last longer than a Nike Chuck Taylor and have arch support. New Balance were gonna purchace Converse, but Nike beat them to it.
Well I noticed that the 70s design was slightly different from the current one and they used nickel plated steel rings instead of anodized aluminium ones... But overall the materials seem to be the same, it is some kind of denim and natural rubber (not the vulcanized type which is used in running shoes such as the Pegasus 33). The 70s design had a chunkier rubber with a smaller top over the toes which was also thinner, kinda like the Chuck Taylor 2 but the Chuck Taylor 2 the rubber is all white and the fabric is not denim, it is something else entirely...
I feel like they kinda ruined my image of converse because i see them as a classic never changing shoe but now I see them as this sporty futuristic kinda shoe
Don't worry... Those Classics aren't going anywhere! I love them too, just bought another pair ;)
Leonardo Antonio I like the chuck 2 a lot more mainly cause I always thought chucks were ugly since chuck 2 came out and have a nice classy look
Converse Modern looks like a very Xbox 360 inspired shoe... All Star 2 is basically the same as All Star 1 but with a chunkier rubber which is all white without the colored lines and also the interior has more comfort but it's still no running shoe. I mean you can run a little with it but not long distances...

agree...I used CT2 about 2 years and realize 70s are cooler, but I use lunarlon's from my CT2 to put on my new 70s...😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Just copped some classic chuck 1 black and whites and I had to go down a full size down, they fit great

I wish the 2 had the pin stripes from the classics. The red pin stripe is what makes the classics look so good.

I bought size 9.5 and they feel like squeezing my toes with toe cap and they feel tight.Length seems fine but width's the one that feels troublesome.Would size 10 be too big then?Someone pls answer and help.

I bought a pair of Chuck II. It just arrived today and unfortunately, it's too tight around the toes. I have a pair of Classic Chucks which are size 7 (25.5 centimeters). My feet are about 25.5 centimeters so I also went with a size 7 for the Chuck II. After wearing them for half a day, they stretched out a bit but it's still very uncomfortable and painful even. Looks like I'll have to return this pair of Chuck II.
The real question is, which ones can I lift better in?
I could never get those converse II's, they just look off without the stripes on the midsole. Coppin some Chuck 70's.

I received some Converse All-Star Hi Street. I actually like the feel of these better than the original ones. The support around the ankle is an improvement. I haven't tried the All Star II's with the new sole insert so far, but for now the Hi Street's are my favorite.

Do they still sell the converse 2? Those were the perfect shoes.
Cipher Converse seems to have stopped making Chuck 2 and are focusing more on the Chuck 70s which have been around longer than the Chuck 2s
I like Chucks, and wore the classic for years, BUT my feet are rather wide and to begin with they do tend to hurt a bit. If you go up a size then they become too long.
How are the chuck 70s different from these?
Mazin Bashar The Chuck 70s use ortholite insole, heavier canvas and thicker rubber. It's the most heaviest chucks but it's extremely well made

I have a pair of converse moderns...amazing lightweight shoes....i had to up size them though....do I use regular soap and water to clean the white areas?
The outsole is easy to clean due to the phylon material so I don't see why not! I wonder where can I get the modern now?
Yes they fit small IMO too. Yes you can use regular soap for sure.

I see that your white classic ones got 8 laces holes. I saw that some got 7, is there a reason that some got 7 and some got 8? I'm looking for a classic one with 8 laces holes but I see online only ones with 7. I'm size 41 eur,8 usa, 7.5 uk

how is the grip on the Moderns? I wear Chuck 70s and Chuck IIs for indoors basketball, and they work just fine. Could you wear the Moderns for balling?
I'm surprised you wear Chuck 1s and 2s for indoor basketball, but if you do, and enjoy the feel, the Moderns are even better (I imagine). A breathable upper and the traction is much better. I do not recommend it but it will be fine if you do.

Thanks for the reply! Don't forget that Chuck 70s are retros of the 1970s Chuck's worn by players like Wilt C. the ones in your video are the cheap Chuck's that came out in 2000. They look the same on the outside, but the Cheap Chuck's have thinner canvas, less cushioning, unreinforced sidewalls, felt on the bottom of the sole, smaller heel counter on the high tops, and a white patch on the heel. You can only order the Chuck 70s online.
Learn something new everyday. I always thought the athletes were playing in this regular canvas shoe, I didn't know there were more reinforcement and support. I suggest you try some of the modern mid-high top basketball shoe technology out there. It's night and day with what I imagine the Chucks would be on-court... but to each his own.
Aaron Johnson I have chucks 70s and in my opinion their the best chucks and most comfortable. What do you think? I wish he mentioned the Chucks 70s
They are more comfortable than a Chuck II, although I'm not sure about the current Chuck 70's, as they have replaced the old sponge cushion with modern Ortholite. I don't have one of those updated Chuck 70's yet.
it sounds like if you're going from the all star to the all star II you should get the all star II a half size up from the all star.

I dunno if u r still interested in the brand, but I just wanna give u a feed back about the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Prime.. The shoe is great but Having one problem.. the toe area from inside covered in a hard plastic which make it very hard on the nails area taking in considrations that the toe area gets slim and not as wide as I find in other models. Though if u have the right size the hard plastic is REALY annoying. Cheers ✌🏽

I haven't owned the low tops, but I love the high tops ones. Although I find them a little hard to get on they are amazing.

They should have kept those Modern versions in the TUCK for people who wanted to get them. keep the old style but also have the new ones like that. i got lucky first week on the second version moderns. but that 3rd one i missed out on thinking they would keep them going another near in a lot of stores smh

I would NEVER buy a pair of those modern converses. I think I would have been more interested in the moderns if they gave them another name. A Converse All Star Chuck Taylor is more than 100 years old and it is the one on the right. I see the II (and the 70s) as possible and respectable upgrades (thought the II feels a bit too much... Nike), but the moderns are an absolute no. They completely changed the look of the most classic shoe ever. They are not bad if considered alone, they are just not Chucks.
I haven't worn Converse in YEARS because they're uncomfortable as hell. Seeing the Modern and 2 makes me wanna try them again.
