From my personal experience, if I can give one advice, I would add one analog pedal before the stomp that is buffered (for example a Klon clone). This, for my ears, makes the HX Stomp impedance much more "analog like" and sounds amazing! Also, it frees some of the stomp processing since you can use this analog overdrive instead of the digital one...
This, or a decent wireless receiver. They too have a buffer in them! I do both, where I run wireless and use a Boss SY pedal for synth parts in my music
If you had to drop your send to -10 db to keep from overdriving your delay/reverb, then you should check to make sure this output is set to "inst" and not "line" in your configuration.
I’ve been watching hx stomp listings on Reverb/GC Used/Sweetwater used all year and haven’t seen one go below $400. That’s like a lottery-grade find. Congrats on snagging that lol.
Thank you for this video! Very informative and to the point. For power, the Stomp (stomp XL in my case) requires both the converter AND the polarity reverse cables?
Hey man currently using my stomp with my board and have it at the end of my signal path, getting ready to do some recording soon wondering if i was to go stereo out from the stomp using a full stereo patch will my stereo image still be retained although all my pedals before the hx are essentially mono?
Yup! Using the stereo output from your board with a stereo patch will help add some depth and spatialization to your sound, even if your pedals before the stomp are mono!
Thank you for this, I've been contemplating about hoping on the stomp train for a minute. I think this video did it for me! Also, I peeped you playing "Told You So" in that intro 👀🤟
My only issue with the stomp is I wanted it on the lower end of my board since I use it more than other effects. I fixed this problem with an angle adapter for the usb b than took the usb cable under the board and it worked wonders later I got a usb b d type socket for the board and it worked amazingly with no lag at the all works every time. I’ve spent years getting the ins and outs of the board to work without it being a mess. The stomp still looks like an octopus tho with all that cabling haha
I play throught a real amp using the HX Effects. and my mods, delays and reverbs are in the amps FX loop not going into the front of the amp. My amp's preamp is in the FX loop of my HX FX so it can go anywhere in the chain.
@@ZachBrobstMusic I'm blessed to have an amp with a great preamp gain sound. Putting the preamp into the FX loop of the HX Effects functions similarly to having an amp block or preamp block, which is why I went with the HX Effects over the HX Stomp. I love the sound and often get compliments. I might be overkill for an amp without significant preamp gain.
Just purchased an HX Stomp and have been making my way through your videos. Amazing work! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Subscribed 🙌🏼
thank you so much man!

what would be your input impedence then if you have a buffer at the start of your chain?

So a device which requires 3000mA & is being powered by a power supply capable of a max of 1600mA.
The HX Stomp needs 900mA - hence why the doubler and converter are needed. But it works just fine with those cables!
The hx stomp is out of stock in the big stores here in europe, do you think they are bringing a new version out?
Definitely!
300 bucks it’s crazy I def need that price
Definitely a sweet deal!
Great video and helpful tips.

Thank you! Sometimes impulse purchases work out!
Same. Finally pulled trigger on one around $450 on ‘verb
Or you can pay $17 for three years with sweet water.

i have to make a separate hx stomp watchlist for all this great content round here!
Does an HX stomp need a DI Box
You do not since the outputs of the Stomp are balanced/unbalanced!
@@ZachBrobstMusic ok. What are some high quality 1/4”to XLR cables you recommend?
I enjoy Monsters high end cables for more “generic” stuff but if you want high end, custom cables I would recommend creation music supply!

Thank YOU for watching! And love me some Band Camino!

how does that work for you? Does that sound pretty solid?

Solid video bro. Love the setup!
Thank you!
