    Great coverage! I asked the question about whether or not they think there is a difference between "trivializing content and killing trivial content" -- as a former FFXI player, I'm right there with you and absolutely want to be able to go back and slaughter enemies that had previously given me a hard time. At the same time, I also loved how there was a strong variety of level-locked or party-locked content (BCNM's, Missions, CoP/RoZ timelines, etc) that was designed with specific parameters in mind that couldn't be trivialized by zerging or being over-leveled. I think there is a balancing act there and that both angles have plenty of value. Players shouldn't be artificially prevented from going back and farming lower-level content *as a rule* -- at the same time, I think there *should* be exceptions depending on various design goals. Think about the Promyvion zones. There was plenty of lower-level weapons/armor that maintained value and relevance over the years because it provided exceptional situational value in that setting. Completing that timeline still had that epic feeling of interdependence years and years after it had launched because it wasn't really possible to just go back and steamroll it. You needed to find help ... real help, not just one or two high-level friends that could trivialize everything and suck the fun out of the experience. Thank you for covering Pantheon and I hope you continue making videos about it in the future. Cheers!

    Hey! Just found you thanks to your content being shared in the official Discord. Love your coverage! It's obvious that you follow the development pretty closely, and not just covering surface-level news. I REALLY appreciate that, and can't wait to see more as development continues. Thanks for the awesome content!

    Saw a link to your channel in Pantheon's Discord. Love your attitude and approach to covering VR's game and just subscribed. Look forward to seeing much more of your thoughtful, mature, and accurate coverage as you displayed in this video. Well done sir!

    Glad to see you're still following their progress. You're the one who got me interested in pantheon over a year ago and I've been excited ever since.
    There are some great content creators following it closely and giving rundowns of those hour long streams in more manageable 10 minute or even 1 minute clips. My 2 favorites are Bazgrim and Nathan Napalm. They even got to party up and play through a dungeon together. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen that.

    I just hope it truly delivers. I have almost lost faith that the old style of MMOs have been lost forever.

    FF XI was my first mmo, I remember playing it with my cousin. First time going to Jeuno, or anything in fact, was an adventure in itself.
    I hope pantheon can capture that magic of adventuring together. Today's mmo are all giant single player games, with a sprinkle of co-op in instance dungeons. I know it's also to respect people's time in this fast paced world, but the sense of accomplishment is gone.
    Fingers cross pantheon can bring back the social adventuring of early MMOs and a way to not wait 30mins to find parties.

    I really just want them to implement a system like Skill-Chains and Magic Burst. A system that players have to interact with across each other. IMO, that's one of the things that really made FFXI come together, and make people come together in FFXI!

    FFXI made missions difficult, you had to prepare, try missions over and over again. The cutscene afterwards felt like a reward, it made you appreciate seeing it because you accomplished something very difficult. MMOs like Elder Scrolls Online, sure it's a great story but everyone is hammering through the same thing solo and it doesn't bring the same value to it

    Pantheon reminds me of eq1 with better graphics. Shame Brad McQuaid passed away, he was responsible for Ever Quest 1, And Vanguard saga of heroes, he got bad rap for for what happened with Vanguard but the man delivered a damn fun product, it just never caught on like eq did, i hope pantheon the best to cement his legacy as a gaming pioneer. I will definetly be checking it out when it launches.

    If this game can deliver on its promises, I think there’s a huge market if people wanting an old school mmo experience. I’m worried with how long this game has been in development that it’s going to fail though

  • @wiseman4953
    @wiseman4953 2 года назад

    Yes has to have a party synergy system like xi. And hopefully no drastic scaling. Level sync option anywhere would be nice

    I hope it has something like the Auction House from ffxi. That seemed to be the best for promoting a player based economy

      Ya I need to look into more about what they’ve said about economy - very curious!

    Regardless of how long it takes Pantheon to launch, though obviously I don't want something like the launch window to kill the game prematurely, I will gladly give up 1000s of hours to play, what is essentially, Brad McQuaid's final legacy. The current (and at this point absolutely stagnated) take on MMORPGS have just about fully disenfranchised from the genre, altogether; quests dont feel like actual quests anymore, combat is boringly fast paced, utility has been watered down to a homogenized set of rotations for every class, barebones rep and alignment systems, and just about every game feels like a carbon copy of the last thing since WoW really set the template. I just want that old school feel revitalized, or hell, something actually new and innovative would even be nice.

    • @Huntin4GamesChannel
      @Huntin4GamesChannel  2 года назад +2

      Ya I certainly hope Brad McQuaids vision continues along the lines of his original idea. It seems like it will from what we’ve seen so far though

      This is the best "full" criticism of mmos I've seen in a while. Completely agree. I 100% prefer the game to launch a year too late than 1 month too early.

    Reading a reddit discussion, which ok isn't exactly a reliable source, but people were suggesting the devopment of this game is moving away from being eq/ffxi like to being more of an early wow clone. Shame if true.

    I feel like it’s been in development so long that I just don’t get that hype anymore. I ended up being a supporter for it I think I paid $100 but that was like 5 years ago? Been awhile

    • @alexmiesch4423
      @alexmiesch4423 2 года назад +1

      A $100 pledge 5 years ago is a Knight's pledge and gets you alpha testing access if I'm not mistaken. You might be in a position to get very hyped this year if what I think is coming is actually coming... 🤞

    • @alexmiesch4423
      @alexmiesch4423 2 года назад

      @@seth9145 A lot of things are now complete / near complete (in the sense they are up to their standards for alpha). The remaining items are awaiting HDRP conversion which is now close to completion. So we are really starting to get to the pointy end of progress with regards to alpha ready. Obviously i dont know for sure, but we are probably at the very least going to get a alpha announcement this year, maybe wont start till next year, if we're lucky and they are moving forward as fast as they say now with the recent increase in productivity via the tools... maybe this year. I'd recommend keep one ear on it in the next 12 months anyways. Fingers crossed!

    I do wish them well for this new game but it will not reach anywhere near the audience they think if quite a few modern QOL things are not there from the start. As much as they may try to grasp an old school feel, its not 2000 ...I still sub to ffxi since a year after NA release...and am saddened the qol changes they made have taken almost 2 decades to come (lol ffs), tbh if this new game is a copycat of the ridiculous nightmares of 2000 expectations, Its gonna fail, hard. I know ppl will not agree, it all looks good on paper and every game does super well for about 1 yr but it will not have the interest of a huge huge amount of potential players.

    Have you heard of ashes of creation I’d love to see your reaction to the game it’s still in development but it’s going to be amazing and even has a true sub job system. I think a video on it is “genuinely the most exciting mmorpg ashes of creation”
