Love your channel and all the content! I played FFXI at NA PC release and pretty much quit at abyssia. I love the game, and it’s probably the best video game I’ve ever played… many friends were made. I logged on during the current free campaign, and everything is just merc’d now; feels pretty uninspiring and boring. Ah well, I don’t regret a single minute I’ve spent with the game. Keep up the great work and have a wonderful holiday!

I've been back for two payment cycles and I use you and NextGames as my go-to resource for informational videos. Last night my wife and I finished RoV before jumping blindly (zero research) into an Omen. We got to the second "floor."
In 1 week being back (having a real life job etc.) with a fresh character I got 75 SCH, Rank 6, All promys done. Thinking back to how long that would have took in the old days is scary.
Not sure about everyone else but I love the old ffxi for the grind, it just gave you a different level of challenge, as a DRK back in the day I'm used to slow leveling but that also inabled me to learn my job and how to use it properly, i still can't get over a NIN tarutaru JP player who told me that I'm a good DRK, that just incouraged me to try harder and take my skill further than it already was.
The main thing they could do to improve the login campaigns is streamline their service. The hoops you have to jump through in order to sign up or make an account are ridiculous, and then you have to screw around with the PlayOnline services and such. The excuse you always see is that the game is just too old, and the play online service is too ingrained in it to change at this point. But if they really wanted to, they could do it.
I remember when there was just your pol ID and password. That was annoying. I can set up a SEID and pw in like a couple minutes now. It's not really bad setting up. The matter is the individuals learning curve.
@@Aaron-mj9ie everything's a learning curve. I dont understand what's so hard about setting it up. There's just an extra username and password. Every online game you gotta create a user ID and password. Still gotta plug in your reg number. There is literally no difference. 🤷♂️
I agree, I don't like it when the game tells me what I should be doing and I hate the FOMO it gives me when I'm playing other games. The fact that they're doing a login campaign right as Endwalker dropped was just mean. I just need to remind myself to just play what I enjoy in the moment and ignore all the FOMO psychological warfare SE and other devs do to me.
idk the ONLY time I'm doing voidwatch ops is if there's a campaign going on. I see where you are coming from how it burns you out, but at the same it really is needed with the way the community is going. Especially with Master Levels being implemented, the gap is only going to get wider for players that don't have as much time to play as they used to players that never really quit playing.
Just came back, one of the things i am waiting for is shantonto II. She looks amazing with her flying and the elemental orbs. Hopefully she will be in next login campaign
I would love to see almost like a selectable campaign. Something where in your mog house where you can choose a buff. Something like xp gain, item drop rate or skill xp rate. Let the player tailor the campaign to what they want. Run campaigns where you can choose 1 of 3 different activities for increased. Something like increased omen drops or increased hallmarks from ambuscade. Give players a few options so they can progress how they're ready to
man , i love ff11 and have such a fond memories with it and playing with my friends/LS's , doing everything back in days , but the issue is , the game is just in desperate need for a remake with same concept , there isn't enough players also for me personally after they unlocked lvl cap from 75 to 99 it just ruined the game for me , best expansions was promothia and al thahabi , the expansion after , the moment lvl cap was 99 , i just quit , tried to came twice it just isn't the same , lvling doesnt mean anything , content and gear worth nothing , it was just meh :/
This is a similar situation that I find myself in. I often would prefer private servers. And while I've spent many hours on multiple private servers over the years, I still just believe a remake or remaster is what's needed to really captivate me again.
Personally, I prefer a quieter server whenever I try restarting(usually every 6 months)... But then I usually get hung up on the limit breaks and wander off for another 6 months-- but if I manage to push past them; I usually stick around for the whole 6 months... I've been in this weird cycle for several years now.
Seriously, daily "FOMO" is MMO kryptonite for me. WoW was notorious for it, in it's current state especially, and that 'daily' concept is pretty lazy and formulaic in just about any modern MMORPG. Nothing like a game artificially limiting your scope of activities every time you login to induce burnout quicker. That aside, Merry Xmas to you and yours, and thanks for being my only, consistent, connection to all things FFXI.
I think you’re 100% correct. Lvling and mastering a job is only the beginning of taking said job to its fullest. Gearing them out for all the possible situations is the real grind.
*Summer* everything weak to fire take more damage и fire damage bonus. But you can only spend 4hours and then you get sunburned so better stock up on sunscreen. Haha *Fall* reduce drop rate for item's и remove drop rate for currency. This is to keep the economy healthy. *Winter* everything has critical attack bonus и Defense down because if you ever hurt yourself in the cold it hurts much more. Keep fall effects. *Spring* double drops.
The fact they removed the login point rewards for the Abyssea mats used for the Emperyan weapon is a major killing blow to me bothering to log in lol. There was a point some years ago where the CP campaigns were nearly monthly, if I remember correctly, but I think the player base grew some and then... they stopped doing that so much. Now it's only like 2 or 3 times a year. I love the game but I've gotten a bit of a burnout, so I've stopped playing for the last few months. No plans to go back yet. I know I will eventually, but yeah. For as amazing as the recent update is to changing shit (e.g. increased subjob levels), I don't have much urge to try it yet. Hell, by the time I go back, maybe it'll be more streamlined, which I'd prefer.
