What a phenomenal swim in the last leg by the French. Omg!!! Stravius - what a beast. This has to be the best comeback ever in a relay! Most exciting relay (although I loved their 2012 Olympics win too).
It was good. Lesak's comeback against Bernard in Beijing 2008 and France's revenge in the 2012 London Olympics (Agnel vs Lochte) were just as good. Also, Stravius may be good, but Gilot is the boss.
This was the race that made Phelps reconsider his retirement after the 2012 Olympics. He was in the stands and visibly angry at the result. He vowed to win the sprint relay back for the USA and he accomplished it in Rio.
Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996. Men's Swimming. Individual Gold medals in Men's Swimming. 2 USA Jeff Rouse. Brad Bridgewater. Tom Dolan. only (3) three gold medals. 1. RUS. Alexander Popov. Denis Pankratov. only (4) four gold medals. Men's Swimming. Individual Gold medals in Men's Swimming. Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996 check: USA 🇺🇸 - RUS.🇷🇺. 3 - 4.
So exciting..The comentators speak abou the french only at the last 50 meters...We says in France.; Impossible is not french.. and after Agnel, it was nearly impossible..
+christo ba not in the sport of swimming. The US are, then possibly Australia. Unsure of where the French actually stand. You dont become the best just by winning a relay.
FRANCE World champions!!!!!!! its the best 4X100 free relay team they are OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS 2012 and EUROPE Champions in small and big pool ..they have won all what do u want more ???
@@michaelrose8268 Yes, but French swimming federation has always had 50 times less money, swimmers and infrastructure than US, Russia, Australia, but still managed to put few times some competitive squad.. .a true miracle...
J.Feigen won the silver in the individual 100 free a few days later losing only to J.Magnussen ( who swam quite a poor opening leg for Australia) but no excuse not to bring it home for the U.S..
Stravius moins charismatique?!?
From who? If you're asking about any of the individual splits, the fastest here was the 3rd french swimmer who went 46.90......but, the fastest split *ever* is by an American called Jason Lezak who went 46.06 at the 2008 Olympics in the 4x100 free relay.
Lina Desbois Good point. I think the fastest ever textile-suit split in a relay belongs to Pieter van den Hoogenband from the 2004 Olympics, right? He went something like 46.74?
right, duhh, remember 2008 Beijing? The commentator spoke for France for months before the race and 380 meters of the race.... Your big man Bernard was robbed by Jason Lizak by 0.000000001 haha

Fabian Gillot on the third leg for France was electric. He really set Stravius up
What a combination that was! Gilot to Stravius 🔥🔥🔥
Stravius best of all, just amazing.
Love our team ! And vive la France
This has to be the most exciting sporting event on Earth. It is always so close!
Love it! Yet I always seem to miss it.
u want an amazing sporting event ? watch France vs New zealand 1999 and 2007
Now Stravius is God of underwater kicks
France, from 7th down to 4th, back down to 1st...great comeback !
amazing under water streamline for 4th France

Maybe true, but Phelps and US were be beaten by France in London Olympics 😉
Quelle splendide coulée de stravius !!
Stravius' turns are amazing and that's what got them the win
"And here comes Stravius" Stravius underwater ms were epic, they should be studied at the uminstitufe of swimming
Stravius is just amazing especially underwater. Put him on the 2008 team in Beijing and in my opinion they beat the U.s. by a full second.
But look at the turn from Stravious, epic
Soooo proud to be French !!
Pure class!.....Vive la France
Sickest relay of all time! DAMN ITS EVEN!!!
So exciting..The comentators speak abou the french only at the last 50 meters...We says in France.; Impossible is not french.. and after Agnel, it was nearly impossible..
but look at the turn from STRAVIUS !!!!! :D
Epic!!!!!
But look at that turn from Stravius!....breath taking...there needs to be a turning gospel according to Stravius...!
Like in 2012, excepted it was france who won in the 20 last meters (Agnel vs Lochte, remember?)
Well the french did not stolen the award from anybody they won it :))
Idiot, he is talking figuratively. Dumb ass.
Proud to be French🇫🇷

🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
1 word: gilot
adamroflll he doesn’t stand a chance in both 2012 & 2016 olympics against MP
Amazing
Last moment of glory for France".........
nothing to say except that FRANCE is the best
yeah, pack 4 teams within half a second
French stole it, but didn't talk like US.
Stoned , i think we have to use a another word other than dark horse.
You're welcome to use another expression. The rest of us will continue using it, since there's nothing wrong with it.
Is that the best 100 Meters ever ?

Shinoda908 (back when swimmers were wearing polyurethane full body suits).
Lina Desbois Good point. I think the fastest ever textile-suit split in a relay belongs to Pieter van den Hoogenband from the 2004 Olympics, right? He went something like 46.74?
I didn't know that. Thank you for letting me know!
Shinoda908 Yannick Agnel went the same time in the anchor leg during the relay in London, i think they both share the fastest split in textile.
AGNEL !!!!
Zakaria Benkhadda Snoussi Agnel was actually bad on this relay. Nowhere near to his level a year back.
Didn't he retire shortly after?
Not a great swim by Agnel at all unfortunately.

Take off the swimsuit of Lezak and he's nothing.
