    @AgentPaulSmecker I'm aware of everything Lezak has done for USA relays, but unfortunately, previous achievements means little in that particular moment when he (and everyone else) has to live up to the expectations and provide a fast time if he wants to win.

    Australia's Top 4 from the Olympic Trials...
    100m Freestyle Results
    1) MAGNUSSEN 47:10...
    2) ROBERTS 47:63...
    3) TARGETT 48:32...

    A much faster team than the 2011 World Championship winning team.

    This was probably the worst thing that could have happened for Aussie team. They became big headed after this win and completely flamed out in the London Olympics. It was the beginning of the infamous Stilnox 6.

      Magnusson was an arrogant tool and a huge part of that whole debacle. Glad he never got the individual gold - it took years to undo the damage he’d done, and had he been rewarded for such obnoxious behaviour we’d likely not be in the golden era we have now.

    @nehamapeter Yes, they are in fact greater at short course because of the underwater wall work. Two seconds is quite a lot to get up in track with the other guys like Adrian, it might take a few year, but only one way to really find out! ;)

    Damn, that was exciting! The anchor for the French didn’t get close enough to the wall on his turn & lost that vital extra stroke as he had to pull up from the dolphin kick a bit early. However, is was a fantastic effort!

    • @anjikyuzan
      @anjikyuzan 6 лет назад +2

      It's Alain Bernard's fault, who swam on the wrong side of its line, giving his wave to leezak and gave him the opportunity to close in 46s. + Leveaux was first, you cannont anticipate the start like a takeover. We lost because of Bernard lack of strategy(very surprising, f*ing up at this level), not Levaux.
      that is how I see it.

    in the beginning i was talking about relay starts. i know magnussen should go about 46 high off a flat start and hes probably going first. you're right about roberts, probably 46 mid-high off a relay start. i think sullivan is going to be an integral part of the relay, i know his time was in the old polyurethane suits but dont count him out. he was going 47 lows flat start, he should do that or better with a relay start. targett 47 mid sounds about right, maybe low. hes come a long way since 08

  • @adamroflll
    @adamroflll 12 лет назад

    oh, i think you're right. bernard announced he was retired after he didn't make the individual though, i think i read that somewhere.... oh well, and yeah the americans could take it too. they're all relay swimmers and they're all at 48-low in trials, so hopefully a couple will go 47. the reason i said australia is because in their trials, magnussen went 47.10 and roberts went 47.6 with the rest over their swimmers at 48-low

    What do you mean? His 48.04 effort in london was his fastest relay split over the last two years. In the 2010 pan pacs he went 48.12, and here in Shanghai he went 48.15, and a year after that he went 48.04. @FruitarianSwimster Filho set the world record at the 2009 world champs in Rome in the Arena X-Glide, a full-body suit made entirely out of polyurethane. So he set it in a high-tech suit. Also it gives you more than that because Filho swam a 48.0 without the suit at these world champs.

USA need to improve if they want gold in London. They need two more reliable swimmers to swim with Phelps and Adrian.

  • @c0rbination

    @likac92009 wrong about Phelps best. at the 2008 olympics he led off with a 47.5 so this was not his best. Weber-Gale had gone a 47 in the olympics too and went a 48 in this... Lezak split a 46 in '08 and this was a 48. Adrian was the only one who actually did good. No offense to Lezak but he is just getting old and I think we may have been better off with Lochte on it.

    @nehamapeter well vieuwed and said ! Us needs 2 other guys that can swim like Adrian at least . Webber Gale is good but not that fast and Lezak is not fast enough , that's clear ... there will be surprises in the Us trials for those spots !

    lets hope so. the only thing i hate is how trials is so late in the season, they need more time to recover and then retaper after trials. its a more intense meet then people realize and they have to go balls to the wall to make a spot. then so shortly after theyre shipped off. australians are done and gearing up already. americans need more time. the only people it works for are people like me who arent gonna make the team but go to trials for experience, and maybe best times :)
