This was probably the worst thing that could have happened for Aussie team. They became big headed after this win and completely flamed out in the London Olympics. It was the beginning of the infamous Stilnox 6.
Magnusson was an arrogant tool and a huge part of that whole debacle. Glad he never got the individual gold - it took years to undo the damage he’d done, and had he been rewarded for such obnoxious behaviour we’d likely not be in the golden era we have now.
Not sure who will win, but that doesn't really matter - although we both have our preferences. You seem to be the one person, though, that doesn't actually attack a person for another point of view. Thank YOU!
Australia's Top 4 from the Olympic Trials... 100m Freestyle Results 1) MAGNUSSEN 47:10... 2) ROBERTS 47:63... 3) TARGETT 48:32... 4) SULLIVAN 48:53... A much faster team than the 2011 World Championship winning team.
Damn, that was exciting! The anchor for the French didn’t get close enough to the wall on his turn & lost that vital extra stroke as he had to pull up from the dolphin kick a bit early. However, is was a fantastic effort!
in the beginning i was talking about relay starts. i know magnussen should go about 46 high off a flat start and hes probably going first. you're right about roberts, probably 46 mid-high off a relay start. i think sullivan is going to be an integral part of the relay, i know his time was in the old polyurethane suits but dont count him out. he was going 47 lows flat start, he should do that or better with a relay start. targett 47 mid sounds about right, maybe low. hes come a long way since 08
i think im gonna have to agree on that too. the 4x1 free relay is a tough one to judge though. adrenaline and spirit has a lot to do with sprinting, so really anything can happen with the top teams.
oh, i think you're right. bernard announced he was retired after he didn't make the individual though, i think i read that somewhere.... oh well, and yeah the americans could take it too. they're all relay swimmers and they're all at 48-low in trials, so hopefully a couple will go 47. the reason i said australia is because in their trials, magnussen went 47.10 and roberts went 47.6 with the rest over their swimmers at 48-low
What do you mean? His 48.04 effort in london was his fastest relay split over the last two years. In the 2010 pan pacs he went 48.12, and here in Shanghai he went 48.15, and a year after that he went 48.04. Lezak was 36 in London, how he went .08 of a second faster than a performance he did when he was 34 is amazing.
@nehamapeter Yes, they are in fact greater at short course because of the underwater wall work. Two seconds is quite a lot to get up in track with the other guys like Adrian, it might take a few year, but only one way to really find out! ;)
yes i think so too ! in Shangai , they didn't put the best relay team possible available . Lezak was too slow and garrett didn't go that fast . let's seeee at trials
@nehamapeter There is one guy coming back to fast swimming : Anthony Ervin . he did great for his come back 2 weeks ago ...so all hopes are there for a great relay .
He qualified 6th in the 100 at the US olympic trials, which meant he would swim in the pre-lim relay only. He was the anchor leg with a 48.04 100. 3 of a second slower than lochte.
@nehamapeter David Nolan Jimmy Feign are very unsuited for long course, although they are of course very strong on the SCY competition. Have you seen any of these young guys do LC?
@AgentPaulSmecker I'm aware of everything Lezak has done for USA relays, but unfortunately, previous achievements means little in that particular moment when he (and everyone else) has to live up to the expectations and provide a fast time if he wants to win.
@Drumwannabe17 Any country where swimming is the main sport gets huge respect from me. It doesn't even matter how good or bad they are. Yes I'm American.
@splitkostanjeuma ... which were already illegal when Filho set that record. The blue seventies/LZR suits have only about .37 second effect per 50 meters regardless.
hey guys!! my time 50 m free style is 30 sec and i m 13 years.. is it good?? and i m not a regular swimmer.. do u think that by regular swimming i can improve it? and compete at national level?
@FruitarianSwimster Filho set the world record at the 2009 world champs in Rome in the Arena X-Glide, a full-body suit made entirely out of polyurethane. So he set it in a high-tech suit. Also it gives you more than that because Filho swam a 48.0 without the suit at these world champs.
Bruh he was 26, that’s ain’t old at all. Schoeman made WC podium this year at 42 years old, that’s nuts. You can say that impressive and other example is Tony Ervin who won an Olympic gold medal at 35 years old. Idk why people think if swimmer is older than 25 it’s too late?! If u think that’s impossible, that’s your opinion, but remember: impossible is just an opinion!

@beegell I agree with you on this. The U.S. can't get relaxed with this and Michael Phelps isn't good for the first leg though he has potentials. He would be better at second leg at all times for this event.
@swimmerM3 it's no problem.. it's just the 'worlds' we'll have a stronger team put together and definitely ready for when it counts.. LONDON BABY!! our boys show up when it counts.. THE OLYMPICS... everything else is just a warm up :)
@@likac92009 Yes ! I didn't watch those races when they were taking place so not knowing who the winner is creates a little bit of suspense. I am watching the one from Barcelona 2013 and as a french woman you can only imagine how surprised I was to see France win !

Aleksander Frankiewicz totally agree, am surprised he doesn’t have in his palm area any gold in the olympics
