The nicest thing about this is that each person is the owner/operator of their own bullet journal.

Adriene Grzenia I'm confused by this comment. Why wouldn't they be? And how is that unique to bullet journals?

RUclipsName I think what they mean is when using a store bought planner the person has to plan using the system the designer put in place. Bullet journals allow for change in design/planning system, even from month to month, if needed. The user is 100% in control.

I used to have small binders for classes (with tons of margin doodles). I added a pocket calendar for schedule changes and events (these weren't much).
Now I have the A5 for journalling, habit tracking, rolling weekly, future planning, mindset/visioning, and project managrement. Setting it up for the year took a weekend but each day takes less than 10 min to keep up.
I still have separate binders for separate projects and activities.

I really love your insight on bullet journaling and how you've completely remixed the basic system into something that works for you. I just started bullet journaling myself a month ago and I love seeing the kind of systems that others have developed for themselves. I get loads of inspiration 😊

I loved this video! I am very new to the bullet journal craze and found myself very frustrated with keeping track of all of my school spreads within my vast collection pages. I think this system would be perfect for me! I'd love to have a separate notebook that is strictly dedicated to university schedules and what not. Structured chaos, I love it! Thank you for sharing!

I started with BuJo and have switched planning methods and planners and I keep coming back to bullet journaling. Love your wkly layouts and using a TN to house your BuJo. It makes total sense to me! I also plan to add a book for our homeschooling so it's separate, but all info in one TN. Thanks for sharing! I always love and enjoy your videos.

Thanks so much Jessica! Waiting for the Bullet Journal to come back in stock and then I'm on my way to bullet journaling! I'm using a lot of the bullet journal ideas in my current planner, but I'm looking forward to setting up my new bujo!! You're the best!

Hi Jessica! I love the simplistic look and flow of your system. I am currently using a Franklin Covey until the end of the year simply because I had already spent money for it, but I have adapted the Bullet Journal system to it. I have begun a separate notebook to play around with and create a system that works for me. I decorate some because it makes me want to use my planner daily, but functional is first and foremost. You have definitely inspired thoughts and ideas! Love all your videos! Thank you and have a great day!

Thanks for the explanation/overview. Starting my first bullet journaling 2019. Decided not to do December 2018. I wanted to wait until I understood what it was. I watched a lot of set up and got overwhelmed. I think I’ll just start with the basic set up a minimalist style and see where that takes me. Thanks again so much.

+Jessica // Pretty Prints & Paper well I'm trading the calendar for the month in list form to maximize my writing space, and I've gotten rid of full page habit trackers because I was tracking more than i needed to 😋 right now I'm experimenting with a more minimalist style which really seems to be working for me 😁

This was such a great video, thank you for sharing.
I've been using a bullet journal for over a year and a half now and the system I use today is very different to my first one.
I realised I needed even more flexibility and have switched my bujo over to a filofax clipbook so that I can move things about or take them out completely and archive them/use them in other clipbooks. The clipbook is great because it's an A5 ring binder system without the bulk of a traditional planner or ring binder.
I did toy with the idea of a traveler's notebook, maybe I'll give it a try one day. :)

Thanks for showing a simplistic way of creating this journal. I am a mother of 3 little ones, and honestly don't have all the time in the world to design extremely artistic pages for the bullet journal. I am certainly a very artistic and creative individual and I tend to put way too much detail & time into my artwork, so taking 45 minutes just to decorate a page destroys the whole purpose for me doing this: it's quick, rapid logging and simplistic nature. The artsy stuff is overwhelmingly beautiful and all, but I think a lot of bullet journal videos appear more to me as displays of art (might as well be, lol) and I find it distracting and confusing as a beginner. It's difficult to find videos that teach me the original system. Thanks again!!!!

What perfect timing. I am reading Ryder Carroll's Book, and I am about half way through it feeling quite overwhelmed. I'm so glad that I saw the title of your video and decided to watch it. Thank you for showing how I can begin, very simply, and move on from there. I have watched many many videos, along with reading the book, along with watching some of Ryder's videos, and it just wasn't clicking. Well, I finally connected with it after watching this video today. So maybe they all helped in some small way, but your video pulled it all together for me and registered with my brain. Thank you so much for doing this. I look forward to seeing more videos of yours on this topic.

This video has been super helpful. I've been wanting to start a BuJo but it has been hard, and sometimes frustrating, because of how diverse this system is. But hearing you speak about evolving and adding your own mix into how you plan made me realize that the first try isn't perfect and that I should go in knowing that it can't be perfect but still okay. And your voice is very calming as well which is a nice touch to your videos. :)

i will get Midori for new year. .. love the freedom of it... bogo berry got me started... your presentation was wonderful. .. i do stats on a daily page ... health financial to dos and etc... i think my notebooks for travel journal will be person life... work life... school life... etc.... i do love the journal i found at marshals though. .. might try to find another one... i am worried i will get confused about separate notebooks....

Yeah.. it's extremely common for people to use "ironic" incorrectly..so we know what was meant by it.
I get super excited & nerdy when things happen that are actually ironic though.
For instance, I'm allergic to some allergy medications:)

Hi Jessica, #1 awesome video! Great break down of the bullet journal system. I am using the L1917 notebook but found out that I also like to categorize so I am planning to get into a traveler's notebook. I'm fishing around. Went to the foxy website, they have many sizes. I was wondering what size do you use?

What happens if for some reason your 'list' or 'collections' takes up more space than you anticipated? like let's say you decide to make a "Inspiring quotes" collection. and decide to dedicate 1-2 pages for that. but you soon find that you've filled up the pages and you need more space. but can't expand it because on the next few pages is something else. What do you do then?

    • @user-pz9jb2hw1p
      @user-pz9jb2hw1p 7 лет назад

Guster hero just do it on the next available page. That's how a journal stays practical. Just go back to the original entry on the index and add the new page numbers next to the original page numbers and maybe leave the new page number somewhere on the original collection pages.
