I'm a man. I have full time school, am a full time paramedic, and have an autistic 17 year old foster kid. I have been gradually starting to just make lists because my life is beyond hectic. I started by just writing what needs doing and crossing it out. Then I stared making a list every day. Then making a month page and each day a task list with boxes to mark if it was done, started, or delayed. I finally started my first real bullet journal since I like the idea of trackers and finally finished my first ugly little tomoe river book. After a year of progressing to even the simplistic method I've used for the past few months, I found my life got so much more organized when I committed to writing things down every day. I used quite a few ideas of yours in it, thank you!

Good handwriting makes a difference and being a little artistic helps.... so since I have neither going for me ... I'll just gracefully bow out. This one looks great tho.

You don't have to be artistic! It can just be like an agenda and you can print things out (i do that a lot eek)

This is just what I have been looking for. I'm in college and I often make lists when I feel stressed out or disorganized, but then the lists end up being all over the place in different notebooks! I'm going to try this type of journaling, I like how I have control over what I want to put into it.

I recently went back to using a refillable ring-bind paper planner in addition to my online calendar for appointments and reminders. While I like having the pre-printed calendar pages, I also like to design custom pages. I would consider giving this idea a try. The free-form style of a bullet journal will take some getting used to. I'm likely to want to shuffle the pages within a ring binder to keep like-things together. We'll see what develops. 😁

Theae are tips from Thomas Frank's video on how to stay productive or build a habit
Start small and build success spirals. The biggest mistake people make is they want to do a LOT in one day when they're not used to that sort of productivity. Choose to do one thing and stick for it for a week then slowly start to add in things
Acknowledge the existence of the chimp - There is always somethimg stopping you from doing a task, so make it easier for yourself. Organise your desk, prepare eveeything in the evening/morning...
Sit beneath the sword - set consequences for yourself for not doing that thing.
Start with why - ask yourself why what you're doing is important. My passion lies in writing, sometimes things no matter how productive are a waste of time and keep you from doing the important stuff.

I have to say that for beginners who want an affordable dot grid journal, pretty much identical dupe for the classic Moleskine or Leuchtterm but only cost me $5 from Michaels online, it's the Artist's Loft brand. No pen loop or pocket in the back, but has a really nice cover, elastic band, and two ribbon bookmarks. Plus really nice paper. Comes in lots of colors. It made me so happy! When you have an affordable journal to start in, you don't have to be so paralyzed with fear if you mess it up a little while you're learning.

I really love how you were really simple and very engaging. lots of people showing and or describing how to make a bullet journal are really....whimsical. it s hard to visualize what you yourself should do to make a bullet journal for your own lifestyle. but you kept it super simple, and really easy to envision for youself. I'm trying to get my mom to understand bujos and I think this video would be a great one to show her.
I really needed to see this video because eyou really clearly explained how to really USE the bujo, specifically at 10:10-10:25 ish. that REALLY helped because ei honestly have been so confused on how everything works together and how to plan it all out in the journal.

I've been on and off with journaling over the years. Now I've gone digital with my writing while I've kept a separate journal for sketching. Google Calendar is where I keep track of my work schedule and appointments. It's been driving me mad not to have all things in one place, but I never found a suitable format for me. I've just recently discovered bullet journaling so found this really helpful. Thank you! Because I hate waste I'm using a goals diary that has a weekly spread but it has a bit of blank space so I have already customised it. The rest is in my reasonably new journal. So I'll run with this and experiment for a while but can see me moving to everything in one place so it can be indexed.

So many comments about handwriting...practice, practice drawing the letters slowly. Get a calligraphy notebook with lines to guide how tall the letters should be. Print each letter slowly until you are comfortable and then get faster. You are drawing, not writing. Drawing and concentrating on the form of each letter. It is a process that doesn't come fast so give yourself permission to go slow. People who have lovely handwriting also have scribbly penmanship if they write fast. Also the post is speeded up so she is not writing as fast as it looks. She is drawing each letter and she has done so much practicing so that it is easy. When you can draw the letters automatically, you have accomplished something that has taken a lot of time and you should be proud. Carrie didn't just put a pencil in her hand and write like this. She wanted to learn and had the drive to master the alphabet. You can to if you really want to. And just because you have a calligraphy pen in your hand doesn't mean that your letters will turn out like hers. You have to master the letters first with a pencil. Calligraphy pens have nothing to do with it.

I've been wanting to start a bullet journaling. In all honesty, most bullet videos I have watched tend to be over whelming which leaves me not ever wanting to actually start. But this video, Cassie made it super simple I love how you made a series and made it simple as possible. I can't wait to start :)

This was really helpful. I have just started doing a bullet journal this year. Now, my little brother, having heard me talk about it, wants to explore it. I am hunting up links to send to him. I want to show him the various "layers", if you will, of bullet journaling. You have basic, then a bit more than basic, then you have even more than basic, etc. I really appreciated how many times in this video you said: "Do whatever works for you." I was able to start using my bujo effectively when a friend finally got it through my thick skull that I could make my bujo whatever I needed it to be. I will be sending my little bro this link. And I have subscribed to your channel.

Looks like combining planner, journaling, art, creativeness, flow state(that's what I like to call the human mind should be left to do that where it works best state), its like combing all those with out hard structure on just how. Its left up to the person just how they want to do it, left to the whims. How freeing! I love that. These jounals help because that's how the human mind is its constant flow and its best to get things down and out; just something done with thoughts there not ment to stay. We work best with allowing thoughts to flow. That's why all the great success and thinkers have such success because they know to let the mind flow, plus being creative in some way is great for mental health and over all well being. So people reading the comments just get creative and let anything out in anyway you feel for you and her video as a grain of salt guide not as "this is the only way to do it" structure don't do that to yourself just let it flow. I read so many comments on her handwriting and I just wanted to gently let people know.. don't focus on such things because as you do you will learn something to get better at your own writing. Gahhh you hinder yourself by focusing on what your not right now instead of starting and becoming better as you go. Gahh I cant stand people self depreciating. Be kinder to yourself. OK that's enough from me. Later.

Hello! I know this video is a bit old, but if you can respond that would be great! Do you recommend I use a bullet journal if I'm a student to write down my assignments in? Our school provides us with an agenda, but I never use it and I'm always forgetting my assignments. Again, if you could respond, that would be lovely!

Great job, Carrie! This video is a great intro to the Bullet Journal system, most importantly without overwhelming us with too much information at once. I feel like even the intro videos that the Bullet Journal company made themselves have too much info condensed into them. Yours is nicely paced, explanations are clear, and everything makes sense. Kudos!
