  • I install a DDM Short Throw Shifter on my Pontiac Solstice GXP. After driving around with it for a little bit of time I really do like the new shifter and the install was really simple. If you have any questions feel free to ask :)

    The 3/16” Allen screw has loctite on it. Heat it with a small flame or pin torch and it will screw right out.

    How do you like the short throw mod now that you’ve had it for awhile? Was it worth it over the stock throw?

    Andrew; When I took mine apart I notice a few chunks of a tiny bushing/washer broke in half on each side..discarded them but did not know what they where, did you see these on your install as well? Also..I found that drilling out the rivets prevented cutting the boot and using bolts to re-install it kept the larger boot intact.

    yeah that 3/16 bolt isn't budging for me (edit)
    Man that bolt was the hardest part of the installation lol. had to tap it out with a hammer a few times to knock it loose

    That boot keeps water out of the car when driving in rain.. Knock out revitheads with punch or chisel and remove boot.

    So you are too weak to move the shifter 4 inches to the next gear?
    More money than sense

    Do you know how to change the shift knob? And what shift knob would actually work! Thanks I’m advance

      DDM Works sells an adapter as well as a shift knob. I believe that would be your best bet👍

    Was there any type of clicking in your transmission after you installed the short shifter?

      I’m sorry, but what? An automatic doesn’t have a stick.. it’s automatic.

      try using some wd40 or somthing like that (give it time to penetrate) and if you need more leverage maybe slide a socket or little tube over the allen wrench just becarfeul not to snap the little bolt.

      I heated it with a soldering iron

    What did you grease the thing with? Like what grease or what?

    • @Fisherman1827
      @Fisherman1827  3 года назад +1

      Just some multipurpose grease, its been in my garage for years its from valvoline and comes in what looks like a can for peanuts lol. They weren't specific in the instructions so I don't think its that important. :)

      I like it. I guess it like clicks/thuds into place a little. Kinda hard to describe

    What is the purpose of the short throw?

    • @Fisherman1827
      @Fisherman1827  3 года назад

      main purpose is faster shifting, it also made the gears feel a little notchier. :)

    • @TheNobleLoyalist
      @TheNobleLoyalist Год назад

      Shorter throw equals quicker shifts BUT more to the point, short throw shifters give FAAAAR more positive shifts. Better feeling all around. Short throw shifters are without it doubt and my opinion they must have Aftermarket market upgrades.When I had my 5.0 mustangs back in the day the first things I'd do to them were exhaust, intake, and a Pro 5.0 short throw shifter.
      The most noticeable change when going from a stock shifter to an aftermarket short throw

    • @TheNobleLoyalist
      @TheNobleLoyalist Год назад

      As I was saying before getting cut off and not being able to edit, the most noticeable change when going from the stock shift to an aftermarket short throat besides a course the positive Feeling into the gears and obvious shorter throw is That you loose that awful rubbery feeling that you get with the stock shifter.

      I actually prefer adding a shifter extension. Makes shifting pretty effortless and the shifter is closer to the wheel. I have had one on my S2000 for many years and ordered parts to do the same on my Sky RL. ruclips.net/video/AMseIuq7P-s/видео.html
