Download my free step by step PDF beginners guide to repairing sash cords. Click the link below: www.sashwindowschool.com/f/be... Video shows the sequence of how to replace sash cords
Ignore all of the whiners, it was all perfectly straightforward. no need for any explanation. I really like the time saver for threading the sash cords through. Top notch. Just replaced all four cords in my window this morning. Took slightly longer than you...two hours, but that did include going up and down the stairs a few times to collect tools etc.
Thanks for your kind words John, glad it helped. Here is a link to another one of my videos you might find helpful if you need to replace the cords again on another window. ruclips.net/video/0DU8BAMs6Os/видео.html
Would have liked to have seen everything done step-by-step including putting the new weights in. But appreciate the video. I'm just learning how to install sash windows, and this is probably the best instructional video on YT I've seen so far. But maybe do another video showing a full install without the edits. Cheers though pal 👍

I just installed inside mount blinds in my sash windows and the sashes are not working properly, like the mounting screws in the top are somehow interfering with the ropes or pulleys? Not sure what's going on as the ropes look like they should be on the side, not top of window where mounting brackets go
Hi Jeff, in the uk 90% of sash windows don't have the hole for a knot in the side of the sashes (Some do though) we generally just nail or screw the cord into the rebate. You will just need to make the cord a little bit longer before cutting it and tie a knot and feed it in to the hole. Hope that helps.
The criss cross is a massive time saver for us when we replace all four cords. You can absolutely do it individually. If you are new to sash cord replacements I would advise replacing the cords one at a time. Hope that helps.
@@sashwindowshop Doesn’t the criss cross technique waste a lot of sash cord. I just bought 200’ yesterday, it cost over 40 dollars American with tax of course.
But why did he replace all 4 sash cords when it appeared none were broken And it appears he took apart a perfectly good working double hung sash window For no purpose but for educational purposes But why Why not do a video to actually fix a broken sash cord But I’ll speculate this man has to much time on his hands But touché
you don't show where to cut the sash cord you cut this out of your video why ??? is the most important part i guess its a trade secret then don't do a video

I learned a lot! You used small screws on the sash cords. You did not tie a knot on the sash, there was no room for it!

This is like a nanny cam video of a guy installing windows. No narration. No close-ups. No step-by-step. No help as a "How-To."
Hi M Noot, we uploaded this to give an overview of how we change sash cords.
We did learn the vacuum work and the old land line ring. Otherwise these must be newer windows but ?
Why the criss cross? If i wanted to only replace the front ones couldnt i just do them individually?

You can use spiral balances. Cut a wider rebate in the sash and connect the spiral balance to the frame.
Nickname is gourd , so it was all about his head.
