Thanks. The other videos show Vinal. I have windows up to 100 years old. No one is going to put new windows in. I just needed to free up one old wooden window. THANK YOU.!
Thanks Rob. I just finished installing 10 Andersen Architectural Series double hung windows. I will buy a can of this product and give it to my client so that she may maintain the window. Good tip. Thanks.
If the painter was any good he/she would have the foresight to see the sticking coming, put the extra effort into scraping, sanding the tight areas down (provided the homeowner gets it and pays for it) and then actually doing the waxing or other type of lube once the last coat of finish is complete so the windows dont get stuck from the start. Most painters are absolute morons though and dont understand the whole paint on paint sticking together concept. The whole diy industry has really done harm to the trades because everyone thinks the know something without having any field experience
I will do it! Maybe you can answer me 2 questions: 1. what can I do to protect my wood windows from elements without painting them? 2. If I decide to paint, how to not paint them shut. I have been looking for this infos. Thanks!
I want to shape the size of my two windows located on the South side of my house. The Sun is very punishing and the heat is intense on this side of. my house. As a carpenter, perhaps you might want to discuss window issues related to intense Southern Exposure even in Northern US climates. Perhaps there are also considerations for the wind factor in prevailing westerlies. There may be other issues related to windows that I do not understand but should understand when remodeling my house.
I have wood windows with aluminum spring-loaded tracks. Will waxing help for those. Also what do you recommend for preserving the inside stained panes and sealing out water on the outside? Need to preserve my my large 36 grid windows until I can afford replacements.
I have all huge wood casement windows in my house. A window guy recommended I use silicone spray. Works really good, but I wonder how long it will last. The double pane windows are in excellent shape but a few of the levers broke off. The hardware is by bilt best and you can't get it anymore. Maybe you know a place?
Spot on Rob! Always good to see someone who knows what their talking about!
