    What hard wood do you use?

      Vic ash or Tassie oak. If its a door/window sill sometimes I use merbau. Generally speaking it's good to match the replacement timber to the original timber.

    I hope you see this. My windows slide up to open. I have two where the bototm of the windows under the pane are rotten out. The windows arent removable. My thought was to cut the rot out. get a new piece of wood dimesioned right. Cut in half so i can fit in and glue the two parts together as they are being glued to the window. Not sure. I need new windows but trying to just keep these windows a year or two more to offset the costs.

      I'm very surprised the windows aren't removable, double check this is true.
      I've used a similar technique when replacing floorboards. your problem is you may accidentally glue the window shut while trying to glue in new timber. Give it a go because it sounds like the worst case is you need a new window, best case, you need a new window.

      @@dingeldiy I need all new windows they are all wood from
      92 along with my exterior siding . I’ve paid for the house just wanted to try and keep the window good for a bit longer to offset some spending. I’ll try and figure out who made the window and if there’s a way to remove. They are are double hung windows so you’d think I should. I know all the shitty vinyl that the window people who stop by show me pop out

    Why do you use epoxy instead of wood filler? Whats the epoxy called so I can buy it? Thank you. :)

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy Год назад +3

      Wood filler is not meant for high build applications and it doesn't last like epoxy.
      Epoxy is stronger than timber and doesn't crack like other fillers
      Here's a link to the one I used
