I was going to watch this on a PC screen but within the first minute or two decided it deserved much better. Folks do yourselves a favor and watch her videos on a big screen! If you're impressed watching on a small screen you'll be blown away on a good sized TV screen. I lived in SoCal for almost 14 years and loved Catalina. You've reminded me how wonderful a place it is. Only 24 miles from the clutter and noise of L.A. For those that are not photographers or videographers you may not fully appreciate the level of work and skill it takes to produce something like this. There are lots of high dynamic range shots that are very, very difficult to pull off even with the best of equipment. The amount of time spent editing is way more than people realize. Producing videos of this quality takes considerable effort. CG you're doing a great job!
Being an avid You Tube viewer and subscribed to over 300+ channels I seldom comment because I watch so many mostly in the evening in bed and just don't have time to comment all the time. I have commented a few times things in my heart about some videos so for me to continually comment on your videos is a very special compliment. I am enamored with the BEAUTY you are sharing. I have a coffee table book of our Nation's National Parks and right in the very front cover it shows the locations of all our National Parks. I immediately noticed that most of our Nation's National Parks are located in the Western and mid-western US. Having volunteered in many State Parks, I consider State and National Parks real treasures. You are very blessed to absorb yourself into these treasures. Your channel has quickly become my favorite! Thank you so much Catherine for sharing with all of us!
Well done Cat. Ive been an airline pilot for 34 years and have flown over Catalina Island literally a 1000 times. Next time I look down on CAT-alina I will think of you and this beautiful video. I’m very proud of you.
What a great trip. Shows why so many people like Calif.....the coast, the beach, the mtns......has it all. Looks like you had no problem with crowds and were rewarded with peaceful views. Thanks for sharing your trip.
You mesmorized me......I closed my eyes and got lost into the scenery. You definitely captured the "feeling" you get watching a California coastal sunset which cannot adequately be described. Loved the cactus...the birds...the sounds....the music...the bison...the campfires....the morning coffee ☕....your narration.....the views of and from the trail....and of course, as always, the the breakfast burrito and 🍔 lol. Thanks so much Cat!!!!!!!
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures .....oh I definitely did enjoy those selections...I just know they taste better on the trail or just after a hike too...I loved the entire video....it felt like I was there on the trip...i found a Vietnamese instant coffee...packets like TJs....with sugar and cream added already...but a bit rounder and bolder flavor...have to go get more cause it was so good I used it all...vinacafe brand ...very inexpensive for about 50 packets
As a CA girl this is totally on my list. This might just be the first thru hike I do! Another well done video. I always feel transported when watching your videos. The music, narration, photography are always top notch!
Wonderful hiking video can see a lot of effort in the filming. Seems like a beautiful thru hike, the shot at 22:44 is really nice, I love that vibe so much it is what it means to have a hiking adventure
Well Catherine your vista's are nothing but fantastic but still the lense will never capture what your eyes have seen. Catalina is gorgeous but I will always have the seirra's will always be my love. Thanks for letting me see what I always saw from the ocean. Love emerald bay, surprised you didn't see some wild boar..God bless you your friend Rick...
Catherine... Awesome video sweetheart. I love the channel islands. Was last there in 1997 for a dive trip. We spent nine days on a live aboard dive boat moving between the islands. It was the only place I was truly afraid while in the ocean. Not because of sharks as you might think. The sea lions were harassing us relentlessly. Something unnerving about a six hundred pound brute snapping his jaws right in your face eighty feet below the surface. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for shaking those memories loose. Safe travels and blue skies dear. Randy in Des Moines. 👍❤✌
Such a beautiful island for only being 21 miles long and 8 miles wide a lot up and down a lot of beauty it's incredible a place like that still exist I'm glad you went and filmed it you do awesome work it's only 76 square miles so much Beauty and one Lytle place
Fantastic video young lady! Thank you so much for your effort and for sharing. In my college yrs. I got invited by my gf and her parents to Catalina. We flew in to that air strip in the sky. Day 2 we drove to the backside and body surfed at a gravelly covered beach, til killer whales showed up! During the drive both ways we saw bison and wild boars. You brought back some vivid memories again. God bless, Kurt
What an incredible creation this video is! Beautiful cinematography matched with perfect music selections. You have a gift. Thank you for sharing it with us. And I can't wait for Christine's too, because her gift is the philosophical storytelling she adds. You two make a formidable team.
I’ve heard a little about Catalina Island but never seen any of it. Thank you for sharing your journey. The candid portions were great. Another great video Cat. Keep living your best life.
Great Video, Catherine. Really professionally done editing, narrations, soundtrack overlays, pace, the whole thing. Nice work. And the trip looked like it was awesome.
WOW!!! What a beautiful video and music that is so relaxing. The jaw dropping cliffs plunging into the sea, the country side charm, and the majestic nature of the island reminds me of the Lake District and the South West Coastal path of Scotland. Thank you Miss Catherine. Greetings from Amizmiz, on the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
Grew up over looking Catalina Island... made many trips there over the years... Hiked across the island only once... was always ready to say " we didn't see the 30 "No Tresspassing" signs... Wrigley family(gum and Chicago Cubs owner) owned pretty much everything but Avalon, I think... Thank you so much.... brought me back to my childhood... Hope to do this hike in the near future!!!
Made this hike many times, as I lived in Belmont Shore area of Long Beach. Thanx for reminding me of such great times on the trails at Catalina. Loved to camp on the beach at Pardons Landing.
this is why i love California! we have rivers, lakes, mountains, forrests, deserts, beautiful coastline, we even have islands! you could spend a lifetime here an not see it all.
Great vid. When I saw it was over 30 minutes long I thought I wouldn't watch entirety. Imagine my surprise when it ended and I was wishing for more. Nicely done. Stunning views. Thanks.
Catherine. I very rarely post comments, and have been a subscriber of yours for quite a long time, but wanted to tell you that I thoroughly enjoy what you put out here for all of us to enjoy. I also wanted to tell you that I particularly enjoy the hikes that you and your niece take together . I am a subscriber to her channel as well, and love to watch the prospective from each POV. Thank you for such great content.
Hello Catherine, it's good to see the dynamic duo partner up again and take on the challenges of Catalina Island. That is such a beautiful area to be hiking in. Bison on Catalina Island, how neat is that !! Always, the very best of good things for you and Christine. 🤗
BREATHTAKING BEAUTY COLORS SCENERY VIEWS VIDEO ! LOOKED LIKE A LOT OF FUN ! SOMEONE ELSE I WATCHED DID THE SAME TRAIL ABOUT A YEAR AGO & SOMETHING HAPPENED , CAN'T REMEMBER AT THIS POINT IN TIME. GLAD YOU BOTH HAD A GREAT TIME ON YOUR JOURNEY ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED AS ALWAYS ! THANK YOU !
Wow!! Great choice of music, serene shots and beautiful sunsets on the ocean! Although a strenuous trip, this video was so relaxing to watch. Definitely a different hike than normal, but absolutely fantastic! Bravo!! 😎😎
Dearest Catherine, Nice to see have got back in the game. I am always happy when you are hiking with a friend on these long hikes. I used to live up in Rancho Palo Verdes for a year. It was beautiful. It over looked Catalina and as any one who likes it out side, I spent most of the year sleeping out on my deck. It was an old apartment complex, well maintained. It was off on the point by itself. I enjoyed watching the fishing boats out there and the cargo ships coming and going. You could here the bell off the point faithful do its diligence. It was high enough to be above the world war ll planes that flew out there on weekends. I remember the first night I was out there and I heard the peacocks, I woke up and thought I was somewhere else.LOL There was the lady who would walk her goats on ropes like dogs down to the park to eat the good grass. Gee I look back and that was somewhere between the late 90 and early 2000s. Where does the time go in a single life. Life is the wisdom from what you do, or the leap of faiths your soul takes. MOST people are so busy making a living, they for get to live. People spend most of their time waiting. There was the military, I had a career, was married and raised 4 kids, then there was retirement and other qwest. Each 1 seems like a different life time now. Lucky my kids live close and I see them often. As you know i am out in the Arizona Territories, I like that its more romantic. There are the times we go on our soul searches or as the natives call vision qwests, maybe each sojourn a little further a little deeper. To the point there seems like there is no return. You go out for a week and come out somewhere else only to find you have been gone for a year and 1/2.. You would actually find it hard to believe how many people are out there beyond the next turn or just down the road. They just went for a hike and found another place and time to live in. I have found a few on the big hike. They just thru what they thought they would need on there back and never returned to the main stream and maybe all the better for not. Well my friend the hour is late and tomorrow my son is coming for breakfast and off to the gun show and then a little fishing. So in closing dear friend sleep well, be safe, ponder the steps you have already taken and the ones you are about to, with a nice STRONG CUP OF COFFEE, IT'S GOOD FOR THE MINOR ACHES. I heard somewhere and i dont remember where. A women is like a tea bag, you have no idea how strong she is, until she is in hot water.TILL the next time, Dutch
It is crazy how time flies. I for sure wish I would have discovered my live of backpacking earlier in my life, alas the time is now. :) Thank you for your story.
Only you can film something and the pics at all the Splendor of the beauty of Santa Catalina Island it's so beautiful and you do it so well I remember going there was a kid and my grandparents as boat we would hit quite a few of the Channel Islands abalone my grandmother loved it are used to go pull it off the rocks funny what you remember after 50 years the sites you bring me bring back fond memories thank you sweetie love what you do love what you see and I love you you're a sweetheart keep them coming
Cat! This is the first video I’ve ever seen of Catalina island and cannot believe how beautiful it is! The mountains, plants & flowers, the incredible views of the ocean! Wow just spectacular! This might be your finest video to date...Thanks kiddo I really enjoyed it! 🥰👍👌😊🎉🎉🎉
Very different kind of hike than what you normally do. I've never seen up close images of Catalina Island. I love that rocky cove on the west side with the crescent sandy beach. I could spend a couple days there. Your music choice was great - not like the electronic snap tracks that some people inappropriately choose for nature scenes. Beautiful log of your trip. Thank you.
Thank you so much Jack. I would have used more of the sounds of nature however I was trying my new mic for the first time. Unfortunately, many of the clips didn’t record audio since my mic was turned off, but still plugged into the camera. Live and learn. I do try and use calming and soothing music choices.
Gorgeous and wonderfully photographed and videoed! Love how you shoot your footage! Those shots into the Sun are awesome! And the music! Wow... this has been a real treat to watch. Thank you for your work and capturing this wonderful place on Earth!
Catherine, one of your best yet! I continue to be so impressed with your photography and the music selection and the overall excellence of your work. The TCT has been on my radar screen for a while. Looks like you guys hit the weather perfectly. Thank you, that was great!

Wow ,, what an amazing adventure!! Beautiful location ,, sunset images right from the start ,, so breathtaking ,, scenery throughout was spectacular.....always good to see you and Christine hiking together.......definitely an awesome ,, beautiful hike ......Always , Stay Safe and God Bless.......
Yes, Fantastic hike. Beautiful scenery, beautiful weather. Springtime conditions, green rolling hills, wildflowers blooming. Great camp areas. Just a gourgeous hike to take. Not too many other hikers at this time either. Perfect Cat! I, really need to add this to my to do list. Me, personally, I hope all trails continue to show the east end and just add an alternative if you want to cut down the route. TCT!

TCT!
That’s exactly what they should do. Thank you John.

So glad you were carefully and slid down that steep part, we wouldn't want anything to happen to you!!
