This is the first time in many many months that I felt compelled enough to log into YT so that I could leave a comment. I've watched a TON of S24 videos and this one takes the cake! Your amazing observations are so meaningful and other creators simply gloss over or completely ignore. Can't believe with such a quality review, you don't have 1 million subs. You're getting my upvote and sub today with many thanks. I look forward to more tech reviews in the future. You have the knack for this and keep 'em coming! BEST S24/S23 COMPARISON ON YT!

Compared to other reviewers, this comparison of S23U vs S24U is very beneficial. I learned what I needed to know to confirm that there is really no need to buy a new model this year, even though there are some visible improvements. The S23U is still a very capable phone. I'm curious to see the tweaks and improvements that next year's S25U will bring, and I'll decide accordingly if I'm already upgrading the phone. Thank you for this great and exhaustive comparison.

I have the same opinion as many users here. I don't think it is a needed upgrade but the changes that have been made as a refinement are worth the trade in deal. If I had to buy it at full price I wouldn't probably upgrade but seeing how good of deals Samsung has when trading your s23 ultra was to good to pass. 516$ total for the buds pro 2( got a second pair now) and the s24 ultra, with a 24 month financing,it was to good to pass for me. The less reflective screen, the better sound, the improve soc and also the new ltpo 4.0 tech, the shutter lag fixed are some of the things I feel are well worth the trade in. But really the thing that made me upgrade was the deals.

  • @gabrieltechreviews8185

As a photographer I want to mention that the s24 ultra 10x is not the same as the s23x because you are just cropping so you are not getting the compression or blur of the optical 10x. You can see that on the beach shot you presented where the s24 shot has more dof thus less blurr on the background and is not doing the compression of the optical 10x
Then again the 10x on the s23 wasn't a great one so the s24 may end up with the upper hand after cropping just exactly the same look from a true 10x optical

At 9:40 you claim the S24 Ultra looks better because the S23 is enhancing digitally even though at non super zoomed in size, it looks better overall on the S23.
Yet at 11:21 you claim the S24 Ultra looks better but is doing the same digital enhancement of the S23 ultra LOL
And at 10:15 come on now. You CANNOT be serious that the S24 Ultra looks better. It looks blurrier with more water color look on the plants and lacking any texture detail on the dolphin that the S23 Ultra preserves. On top of that, look at that horrible chromatic abberation on the white detail on the fin where the S23 looks perfectly white.
You are trying way too hard to make the S24 win.

Hey there great work I have just discovered you recently and found you on RUclips from my perspective I feel that the biggest change with the device is certainly the flat display I absolutely love it and would not return to a curved edge display alongside the camera for me doesn’t really matter in the sense that I’m never really going to compare the two devices side-by-side. You’re doing a great job. It’s always very insightful to watch your work.

Upgraded from the 23u to the 24u and notice a solid difference in upgrade features tbh. Currently still rocking my 5 year old Note 9 and still loving everything but the battery life. Considering upgrading to the S23 Ultra or S24 Ultra. I know either is going to be a dramatic improvement in many regards, but I'm torn as to whether or not the 24 is worth the price difference. It seems many say the 23 is better in some regards, particularly with the display and reception, 2 big points for me. Having a better camera is nice, but I've never found myself feeling like the photos on my Note 9 were lacking anything, so I couldn't justify going with the 24 over the 23 if that's really the main difference, especially if it means sacrificing in other aspects I actually care about. It really disappoints me that it's next to impossible to get a phone with an SD card slot anymore. I really like knowing my files are on a card that can be easily removed should my phone fail, and not having to rely on cloud storage. If I do upgrade to the 23 or 24, I'll definitely be keeping my Note 9 just so I can use Samsung Switch to quickly copy files from the new phone to my Note 9 and move them to an SD Card for quick backup.
My question is this...can anyone sway me one way or the other between the S23 Ultra and the S24 Ultra, keeping in mind I'm coming from a Note 9, don't care *that* much about the camera, but *do* care about reception, display quality (particularly color accuracy), Battery Life, and overall reliability?

I've got the S23 ultra and S24 ultra. Deciding if to keep the S24 or send it back. The only thing I don't like about it at the moment is the feel in hand of the S24 Ultra. It seems thicker to hold and a little less comfortable because of the high side frames and also wider in hand, so more painful to hold. That may be a deal breaker for me, not sure yet. The AI software stuff is irrelevant since the S23 will get all those features anyway.

At the time of first viewing this video, I had an S24U on order. Now, I've had it about a week and, Holy moly Batman! It's an awesome phone. Coming off an S23+, it was the fastest conversion of any phone yet, using Smart Switch. App updates (over WiFi) took on average, only 5 seconds each. Moving media from old to new was way faster. I had about 140GB of data to move and the whole operation took about an hour. Two, to get the whole thing set up. It's almost the same physical size as my S23+, so no size issues. I use an Ailiber belt clip/holster case, which has kind of a diamond plate textured material on it, so is very grippy. I haven't put a screen saver on yet, because it has to be anti-reflective or you could kill the "matte" performance of the screen. The camera is awesome! BTW, a major system update came out on 2/22 which fixed the "vivid display" issue, which now has a slider in the settings. I've only got started playing with the camera, but it takes impressive photos. Especially 50MB & 200MB. The language translation features are fantastic. I've had the S pen out a few times but haven't taken a deep dive yet. All in all, I couldn't be happier! It's like a handheld computer....Oh, wait...😊

S22U owners: The S24U is obviously the better phone in every way, some features and processing speed improvements are worthwhile, but in the end it may still not be worth upgrading for most people.

I will point out that while looking at upgrading this week from my samsung s21 ultra I was going for the capable s23 ultra & save a few pennies, SHOCK! HORROR! the latest samsung S24 ultra was cheaper to get on contract than the S23 ultra by £6 a month in a certain shop I worked for years ago, & I also got staff discount for life because I was there over 25 years, then a bonus unlimited data for the the price of 10 gb data. I am in heaven, Just to add I also recieved a £2000 payment for a forgotten lost private pension so they sent it, all in the same month my old phone contract ran out. God wants me to have the Samsung S24 ultra.

I much appreciate the both thorough and thoughtful (sorry about the tongue-twister!) review. For me, though I appreciate that the upgrades to the S24 Ultra may not be dramatic (except some of the added AI features), as a content creation professional, they add up to enough for me to upgrade. In fact, from long experience, I have come to trust incremental improvements in hi tech products more than revolutionary ones, which can be plagued with problems.
BTW, I do enjoy and value your in-depth, practical approach. And also your admirable ability to bring out issues that cannot easily be summarized but are nevertheless worth mentioning, such as the differences in photo processing. You give a good idea of what that is all about (giving the example of the added golden hues in grassy areas) but leave it somewhat open-ended, as something to be aware of.

Last 20 years I change my smartphone for new better and every year I followed the technological news and innovations, this year I think we have biggest progress in like last 5 years, from year to year. It would be great to take your phone with you when hiking instead of a bulky camera, but unfortunately that's still not the case. First, the ultra-wide-angle/macro camera. I take a lot of macro photos and yet we have a 12MP dinosaur while other brands offer 48MP macro photos that are unmatched in terms of macro quality. Why can't Samsung change this when 48MP macro is available on phones that cost half the price of Samsung??? Second, camera with 3x zoom - still 10MP??? Really? For several years, the competition has been able to fit 48 MP cameras with 3x zoom without a periscope mechanism. Why can't Samsung? Being able to take photos and clips with the same quality as the brilliant new 5x zoom camera would be amazing. On my 23 ultra, I sometimes take photos with 3x zoom, which then have to be cropped and enlarged a bit during editing, but then the quality loss is huge. Especially in darker scenes. Finally, the new 5x zoom camera seems brilliant and with digital help replaces the old 10x zoom, but again after all there is no improvement in zoom quality and you still often can't get close to animals without alerting them. Putting a 24-36MP sensor on a 10x optical zoom camera would be a game changer, but unfortunately that won't happen. The lack of improvement over the years in terms of telephoto is again a huge no. Other things like battery capacity, charging speed and most painful lack of an SD card slot - also a disappointment, but not as big as cameras setup. Kind regards.

So what’s it like with all the settings in default or max not prioritising focus speed etc more quality. Also does the super hdr only work with Samsung shots or any photos because it only says galaxy devices. I mean like other photos sent to you or you have etc.

Upgraded from s21 ultra to s24 ultra. Dont really care about the camera. Camera on s24u is enough for me. Flat screen is amazing. Battery life is not bad. Glad the spen is back. A higher quality spen would be good. Ai helps to rewrite emails professionally.. but sometimes makes mistakes.

I have the 22Ultra and there's literally ZERO things I've heard this year and last that make me want to go out and spend. Phones have pretty much got to a point where they're running out of ideas.

I upgraded my Motorola phone to the s24 ultra and immediately had missed my moto. There wasnt hardly a noticable differense other then having a stylus. I had it for a day taking pictures and playing with the phone. Ultimately i missed the moto actions, chop flashlight and shake for the camera. I returned my s24 ultra and im happy to keep my Motorola. Im hoping they come out with a phone simulator to the fold. Im a Motorola phone user since the moto droid turbo. You can buy my phone from Amazon refurbished for less then $130 😂

Got the s22u last year and the battery life was terrible. Thought about trading it in for the s23u but couldn't really see a major difference. When the s24u came out with a flat screen I sold the s22u and got the titanium purple s24u.

Hey Daniel, S24 ultra question. When I try to take night mode pictures with a sky in the frame, it looks good before it gets processed and then completely bauks and has terrible banding in the sky, over saturated, too bright and more. Let me know your experience😊

    • @technicboy5917
      @technicboy5917 8 месяцев назад

Note: not the same as the 10x you did, when I do it at any focal length, it does strong banding plus what you showed

I have used all the ultra and the biggest change was from s22 ultra to s23 ultra. s22 ultra was the biggest disappointment . and after just one week of use of s23 ultra I thought that for the first time samsung will have big difficulties to make better phone in one year. And the only noticeable difference is the AI that is smth that will be implemented even in s23 ultra. So for this time I will respect my s23 ultra and change next year
