I have a Sym HD200, bought new in 2012. 12 years later it is still flawless in looks and performance. It is a carbureted bike, but starts the second I press the start button (even after sitting for weeks), never hesitates cold or hot, is very linear in power delivery, and is a joy to ride. I have owned a lot of Hondas, included two 2023 fuel injected bikes currently, and this scooter honestly starts better than them and runs just as well. And for the commentors below, please don't confuse them with cheap Chinese bikes - they are a Taiwanese company with several factories across Asia, and while I can't comment on their newer bikes the quality on mine is top notch.
I have a 2009 and love it. Flat bottom scooters are the best. Bought mine used 5 years ago, only had 1400 mile and didn’t run. Quick carb clean and it’s been a blast ever since. Gets up to 70 mpg and 70 mph!
I got in on the first round of "super scooters" with a 2004 Silver Wing. Comfortable for 2-up day trips and could hit 100+ mph with just one person. But it got a little shaky there. Thought it was great but it never really caught on here in the States. At any time during the 10 years I had it, there were only a total of 4 here in town. The dealer always gave me attitude because there were so few, he kept little to nothing in stock for them. Sold it in 2014, still running but the belt was slipping and you can only "smoke" them so much before you HAVE to replace it ...never saw it on the street again. But still one of my 3 favorite bikes. The scooter form itself lends itself to EV because the under seat arrangement allows for any configuration and IMHO the CVT is the weak spot for all ICE scooters.
Front indicators should have been within the bodywork or lower. They remind of the terrible aftermarket ones on 70's Vespas needed to pass wherever local laws. They really jar on what is otherwise a beautiful machine.
I bought a new 2023 Yamaha Xmax 300 for only $6299 out the door. I think it's a steal for all the features, storage, speed, gas mileage, etc.... I truly believe it's the most reliable Maxi scooter on the planet. Made with quality in Indonesia .... none better....wait till you ride one and you'll see what I KNOW !!!!

I’m on my fourth GTS in just over ten years, in the 1990’s I rode impractical, uncomfortable big bikes. As far as I’m concerned the price is well worth it.
The Emperor Vespasian kitted the Roman army out on 125's . I always wanted to something fancy with that Vespa unit , it's fkn beautiful , engine , box tranny and driven wheel . You could have strapped it to a brush handle .
I have an issue with the price of these things, many are more expensive than normal motorbikes. I can't stop thinking of all the options available for less cash...just saying. Elephant in the room..
I've got a BMW C400x, I'm happy with it although I'm a bit bored, if I were to trade it for another scooter I would go for a Honda x-adv750 or get an Africa twin or similar.
@@automotiveterritory The C400x performs as it should and is great for convenience of use, and weather protection I don't use any motorcycle gear to ride it (even though I should) I've had plenty of motorcycles large and small but whatever bike I get, after a while I get bored. To me, the best option right now would be to get a Honda X-adv 750.
I would much rather have a Royal Enfield 350 classic which would be comparable in price to the least expensive scooter sold here. Compared to some of the more expensive scooters here I could buy for example a Honda CBX 500 with a couple grand left over. Sheesh! Definitely not in the scooter market.
Where did it say $40000 ? And even if they did cost that much, I am sure that there is a few guys with more money than brains, that will lign up for the exclusivity of having something that expensive.
Good then be smart and get the best 2023 Yamaha Xmax 300 ...the best offered in USA for $6299 out the door what I paid in Nov. at end of year prices !!!!
We should get cars off the road if we can drive scooters e-bikes be a lot better for the climate, won't need as much money for gas or electric scooters is the way to go nowadays we got to make highways for them
Yes, they should be more respected. But to get more respected in America, you'll need to send more respectable cc's to us. 150cc's is not worthy of respect in the states. Our drivers are simply more aggressive than realized. Which is why scooters arent really taken seriously. But with all the advancements made in 2024, I can see that stigma changing. But you gotta get the scooters here first. Mostly all the exciting scooters are everwhere else but here... Honda ADV 350?
I have both but unless I’m going long distance I’m always reaching for the scooter keys. Smaller equals more maneuverability in the city. I prefer the lightness for flickability compared to my 800lb 1600cc motorcycle. Comfort they’re about the same.
No clutch. Especially for a beginner rider who has enough to do anyway, shifting is just one more thing that's not necessary. Same reason most cars are sold with automatics.
