    It seems to me, that Accupuncture & cupping, (or moxibustion) should be used in the same session, since one pulls a point, the other pushes a point, and that would reflect the values of the yin & yang, when applied along meridians. But most systems don't educate this way, nor are they given much respect above pseudoscience, I mean.... 5000 years.... It's not pseudoscience.

      acupuncture is defiantly able to address muscle knots and tightness by increasing the blood flow to and away from the problem area.

    Does acupuncture help the low back pain?

    • @acatcm
      @acatcm  9 лет назад

      Yes, it does. Treating lower back pain is one of regular practices for an acupuncturist. Both clinical and research outcomes are overwhelmingly positive.

      +Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine, Calgary, Alberta, Canada I've had TCM Accupuncture for the past five years to help with upper back pain. With needle insertion and trigger activation along my upper spine and in many points on my ears, one month a year for about 6 sessions, it's helped release "frozen" trap, lat, rear delt, and spinal erec muscles around T3/4. How does local muscle tension release relate to meridians? My muscles and nervous system are major lines, but accute upper and lower back pain are localized issues. TCM works, I'm not arguing that, I just want to know how it works on local muscle fascia tension release. I've unfortunately developed lower S-back issues and I'm wondering if local Accupuncture therapy will help, or if I should focus on hip/core improvements to overcome it. Thanks!

      Meridians run through muscle, bone , tendon, joints etc. thus by unblocking the meridian we can treat any corresponding physical structure in the underlying region. I think acupuncture would be good for your sacral issues as well. The channels are everywhere thus the while body can be treated. But keep in mind we should use the entire meridian system to heal not just local areas.

    Skepticism, like all things, has different aspects. Healthy skepticism promotes inquiry and understanding. Fearful skepticism promotes ignorance.
    The ugly criticism here is not constructive, and is entirely fear based. It is only tolerable with the absolute certainty that each of these people is a being, and each of them will discover the continuity of consciousness, whether they like it or not.
    Enjoy your time in make-believe land, because the real world is approaching with every heartbeat and every breath you expend. There is nothing you can do to stop it. And do realize your present reaction to this comment is the terror you feel knowing it won't all be over any time soon. No such escape.

    Please, for Christ Sake. Stop quoting quantum physics when talking about acupuncture. If you can't even describe the abstraction of qi intelligently, you are certainly not qualified to make allusion to any particle physics. Where did you even get the most basic information supporting your claim? You are a faculty member teaching a graduate level program, you need to be held to a higher standard. It's this sloppiness and ignorance that is giving acupuncture a consistent bad rep.

    • @enmann1684
      @enmann1684 8 лет назад +9

      +malocardo your comments have piqued my curiosity. What about this explanation do you have a problem with? It seems to me that Dr Lee is giving a simplified account of qi (or energy) in order that this brief overview be accessible to an audience with widely differing levels of understanding. As a physicist, I did not find his comments regarding the subject to be misplaced or offensive but would be fascinated to learn why you seemed to.

      I don't think you really understand quantum physics, or acupuncture. Please, don't be offended, no one really does. There are many that think they do, but trust me the universe is vast and we have very little understanding of it. I work in medicine, an extremely inexact science. Human physiology is like physics, we think we know more than we actually do. I am new to acupuncture, a patient, but while I cannot explain the physiologic reason it manages symptoms, I can tell you that I feel less pain. Certainly, it may be psychological, but then we are talking about the brain and nervous system, so, well, that's the target. I can say with confidence that since my first treatment, my TENS unit is exponeentially stronger than it has been for the last 6 years. Where I was at ten last week, 4 is almost too much. I reiterate that what we actually understand about human physiology is much much less than we think. That goes double for particle/quantum physics and string theory. However, we should not stop looking, or ignoring treatments that make people feel better. Meditation is an under-appreciated technique, and I recommend you and everyone start.

    • @daisyxfaith

      Fake? That implies that acupuncture is trying to be something it is not. You can argue efficacy, but saying it is "fake" means nothing.

      Its just a placebo , but this guy implies its connected to particle physics. That is pure horse shit

      My friend had poor circulation in her feet and her feet were always, yes always, freezing even in summer and even with heavy socks. This has been her life. Without taking medication she went to an acupuncturist and after a few sessions the acupuncturist solved her problem. Her blood flow now includes her feet and her feet are never cold as they always used to be unless she were to be say barefoot in the snow. Yes, it does work.

    • @MTBSamurai

      +Megan DePerro I am glad your friend reels better. If your interested in getting to the truth please read up on results of double blind placebo tests. have a great day

    • @relaxandgrowwithMegan
      @relaxandgrowwithMegan 8 лет назад +1

      Dirty Bike TV Yeah but are the people making these double blind tests holding medical phds? Are they walking into the test with a bias? I don't see how a placebo could suddenly make my friend (Sarah her name is) have good blood circulation in her feet when she doesn't take any medicine and didn't before hand. I'll look it up but I'll go one better. I'll take a few sessions of acupuncture with an acupuncturist who also had a western medical phd (I have terrible shoulder and knee pain I'm not taking anything for) and I'll report back and tell you how it goes. And if you know me I am a huge skeptic on things (like reiki which is utter bs). I have a very good memory so I'll come back here in 2-3 months and give you a report. I do know a lot of people insist things like EMDR and reiki work and I tried those and they didn't do a thing for me.

      What type of adverse effect exactly? There are many types of sensations or responses, some are normal and some are not. If you detail the sensation I can help you more.
