Thank you Elyse it’s almost a year watching your channel and been stroke, you helped me a lot to be fight and believe I will be ok. Now I can walk with cane and raise my arm. Soon hopefully my hand will move. To those who got stroke our sickness needs patience and more practice that’s why don’t stop and lose hope
I'm almost a year in (jan 2024) had to stop driving after 34 years.....walking and balancing is slow going.....i can't understand why my shoulders cracks like bubble wrap but never did before?
@HameshCloocks I am so happy to hear about your progress! Thank you so much for sharing this with me. Beautiful words of advice. Patience and practice, don't lose hope ❤️
Thank you for this resource!! What is most encouraging is that this type of thing is possible! I’m now 18 months into my stroke, it has required DAILY work. There is so far to go, but thank you for your videos for outlining where to begin. Thank you!
@ehawkins027 You are so welcome! I'm really glad you found it helpful! You be so proud of yourself for putting in the hard work every day. I am! Please keep me updated on your progress ❤️
Thank you for all what you do.My 80 year old mother had ISCHEMIC stroke, her left hand fingers are effected, your videos give me hope how to help her bring her back to her independent self.
Hi Elyse - Thanks so much, this helps a lot. Could you please do a similar video for lower leg(calf muscles and ankle) spasticity as well for each of the 7 stages.
I'm almost 4 years in recovery and spasticity is still kicking my butt. But I've restarted my catering business. Grateful that I have lots of help with this especially for lifting stuff. My left foot however is still an ongoing struggle. My toes are super tight. But not curled inward thank God. Can u do a video for exercises with that in mind please ❤. I'm lifting 3 pound weights now. Thank u Soo much couldn't have done it without u❤❤❤❤❤
@hemasookram4655 Spasticity is such a bear! How is your catering business going!? I'm so happy for you! I am actually working on a video like this one but for the leg/foot that will be coming out in a few weeks 😊 ❤️
Thank you so much for making this video‼️ I want to rehad my hand/arm. But every video I see on line starts at a more advanced level than what I’m at. I need to start from step one. Not only does this video do that. But it also shows me what to do in future steps. Which gives me hope that there is future mobility for me👍🏽‼️
@jerrytaylor8117 You are so welcome! I'm so, so glad that this video gave you some steps to help you where you are right now 😊 Please let me know how the exercises are working for you ❤️
These are great. I'm two years out and somewhere between stages 4 and 5. My major issue is extending my fingers, and exercise makes my hand clench--but it gets better every day. Thank you so much!
im on stage 4 and depressed cant see any improvement it been exact 1 year now post trauma plz help me im losing hope any suggestions from anyone will my hand return back to normal im just 18 and not even being ablw to study properly 😭😭
@arnavrajput8120 I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Are you able to see a mental health counselor or psychologist? Getting mental health care is so important after any trauma, including health trauma. While I can't say that your hand will return to your normal, I can say that potential for progress is always possible when you put in the work. Are you able to receive therapy?
Salam ! Well, I m AVM Survive from 2020 .last year, I returned to study. It was hard for me because of my hand. I still see my therapist . It's really hard 😢
Hi, I would definitely encourage you to do these exercises, on a daily basis and continue doing them, even if you don’t see immediate improvement. My right arm got paralysed due to the stroke and it took some weeks of exercise to re-establish the connection hand-arm-brain. Also to be able to resume writing with a pen or on the computer’s keyboard was a challenge, but I would try handwriting more than once a day. The physio had said to write my name 10 times every day and gradually add the surname and then also the address. This needed time and determination, but it also helped to achieve great results. Keep the faith and believe in yourself as much as possible. Best wishes to get better soon!
Husband had hemorrhagic stroke 1 year and 6 months. His neuro Dr said he is not going to get better because I told her I am taking him abroad to get more pt therapy and speech. These drs are so insensitive!
@@user-evelyncali that’s not true I am 8 years post stroke and still recovering. You can work with him. Keep a schedule and do exercises multiple times per day. It is a full time job honestly. With hard work and your assistance and support he can do it. Keep God first and he will recover!
@user-evelyncali Ugh. I am so, so sorry to hear this! I'm glad you have the ability to take him to get more therapy. It's common to see backslides and plateaus in recovery but it doesn't mean that recovery stops. Our brains are capable of making neuroplastic changes at any point in our lives. Please let me know how things go with his new therapy ❤️
Yeah well find a new dr I was told in May 2020 no more walking for you yet here I am in November 2024 walking a mile daily not well as I have not been able to overcome my foot drop but I walk it everyday without fail even on the days it rains I find a way to get over to my local grocery store and just walk laps around the store 😇🤓
So glad to hear from all of you giving us hope and strength to go through this journey. Prayers help a lot too. Not giving up on him getting better even if it’s not 100% I will still be very thankful.🙏
@aliaabfr7037 Hey there! You're so welcome. Are there specific issues that you're worried about? Problems with thinking, speech, movement as they relate to studying at university?
Thanks for the video! I had a brain surgery and I lost my left side about 18 months ago, I’m in stage 4 right now, my spasticity is slightly decreasing over the last months, I’ve applied botox to manage better the exercises, and I feel i will be in stage 7 soon! Can you do a video for the legs and feet in every stage?
@joaopedroprates7180 That's great to hear about your recovery! I'm actually working on a video on exercises for the legs/feet right now. It should be out in a few weeks 😊
Great video and very helpful. I would say I am in stage 5. However my arm isnt there yet. I have most of the active movements, but when I lift it I compensate a lot with the shoulder and keep it quite away from my body (I think because it is hard to keep my shoulder externally rotated). Can you make same videos for shoulder, upper and lower arm for the different stages? That would be super awesome. Also any tips to restore arm swinging while walking?

@prosperitygeneration1723 Releasing your grip/opening your hand after a stroke is a common difficult movement to regain. The hand/finger flexors often have higher muscle tone or spasticity making it easier to grip but more difficult to release. Take neurobione medicine which can effectively reduce numbness and needle like pain sense as it worked on my case also .... remember to take that perticular advice from your neuro surgen doctor if you need to buy that medicine or not .... in your individual case
@ValerieJupe A good starting point might be practicing holding the pen first before trying to manipulate it. Do you have enough pinch strength to hold it and enough control to release it? Build those things first before moving onto the more complex maneuvers. I hope this helps 😊
