  • We all must eat seasonal vegetables. Anything out of season is simply not healthy for us. Clarissa explains how supermarkets fool us, why she thinks we have more allergies and why a hunting ban is not a good idea.

But surely by extension that means not eating anything air-freighted in from foreign climes, so no tinned coconut milk, no fresh chillies, no fresh ginger, and so on. That wouldn't leave us with much in this country.....

I know it's been years since you commented, but I don't understand why you're conflating local foods with seasonal foods. The foods you mention are primarily tropical foods. How is it less acceptable to import foods that you can't grow locally than to import metals and minerals that aren't found in your country? Or to bring in foreign-produced textiles and electronic goods just because they're cheaper? Surely it's mostly a question of degree: chickens can easily be grown locally; some chilies could be grown regionally; coconuts have to be imported. And be careful, otherwise none of us in northern climes will have coffee, tea, or chocolate! Heaven forfend! :) I can't imagine much of anyone agreeing voluntarily to that.
