    I didn’t feel pretty after my big chop either. I remember my parents wouldn’t even look at me. Talk about hurt, lol. It took a couple months before I started feeling like myself. I’m about to do another big cut (color damage) and I was feeling antsy about it. Now, here you are in my recommended videos all inspiring and awesome and I’m feeling much better about it! ❤️

    I have heat damage from getting a blowout a year ago. I hate I had it done..I remember noticing no heat protection was used. When I left the salon that day, all I smelled was burnt hair.☹️I washed my hair the next day, and my curl pattern was gone in certain areas...2 months later I had short pieces at the top of my head, and straight areas that didn’t break off but also didn’t curl anymore. My hair is super long and thick..I’m really fighting with just going ahead and cutting it. Thanks for the video..This helps a lot.❤️

    This is super relatable.🤩 I remember seeing your post when you big chopped, and l was like WOW, super surprised because your hair was already so long, and you had the courage to choose health over lenght. For which l felt so identified, because l going through the same thing. l had damaged my hair Dec18/Jan19, and it was hitting me after what l did, and your post was like reassurance that “It’s okay to start over”. 🔥🥰 Ever sinc you’ve been my curly-inspo💕

    Fist time seeing this video. Love how you described your ‘attachment’ to long hair. I was the exact same way. Afraid to let go of heat damage just to hold onto length because I identified my beauty by the length of my hair. So happy stumbled upon your Chanel. Have been enjoying your videos.

      Awe thank you! It's such a weird attachment to some people, but I know a lot of people felt like me. I'm so glad you felt seen! Once I cut off the damage it was such a weight lifted off my shoulders. This new growth has been worth the wait! 🤎 wishing you endless hair growth sis!

    Thank you so much for sharing your journey!! This was so inspirational. I had a similar journey--I grew up perming my hair, dying my hair, flat-ironing my hair, so much damage! I am also Dominican, with thick hair and different curl patterns. This definitely inspired me to cut my hair. I love your channel, keep up the amazing work :)

    • @curlelia
      @curlelia  4 года назад +2

      Awe thank you!!! You're so welcome love! Growing up Dominican really is something, we'd spend countless hours figuring out the best way to keep our hair straight the longest, instead of spending that time to understand our natural hair... Even tho it took time, I'm glad to have gone through the journey! Till this day my grandmother is asking me when I'm going back to the salon 😭 😂 Baby steps tho

    I'm so happy I found your channel! Finally someone with similar hair😭 Growing up in a Dominican household myself I never got the chance to appreciate my curls so yup had the heat damage. It takes some mental strength to cut it because I've always been self-conscious about my hair & how it barely passed my shoulders, especially curly. Thank you for sharing your experience! The results are amazing!😍 God bless!🙏🏼💖

    Thanks for sharing this💕, I just did my big chop 2 weeks ago. Like you I had long hair my entire life so right after the cut immediately I started obsessing about growing it out fast instead of enjoying the journey of relearning my hair and embracing my new head of curls! So watching your video definitely was needed! You have a new subscriber

    New sub. This is motivating and I love your curls! My hair has been slowly growing because I neglected my ends and now that I have been taking care of them I have been having more growth. I am at about armpit length when my curls are straight. I can’t wait to check out your curl journey! 😀💕

    my hair was so severely heat damaged that i had to get my hair chopped in 2019 as well, it’s still devastating that my hair doesn’t look like yours though :( but you’ve given me the motivation to continue growing my hair in hopes it’ll start growing down and not out like it currently is!

    She did an amazing job on the cut. I’m to the point in my journey were I’m not afraid to let go of damage and also I’ve the length to spare a few inches so that helps. After I cut off my damage my hair growth was so much better. My hair is to my butt but shrinks up to my shoulders 😒 but I don’t mind shrinkage.

    • @curlelia
      @curlelia  4 года назад +1

      Thank you love! I'm so glad that you're at that point in your journey because that's the most difficult part! Shrinkage isn't the worst thing, shrinkage means healthy hair so lets look at it that way! Sending you lots of hair growth energy

      Don't feel bad about holding on to it, we've ALL been there. The important thing is now you're ready to make the change! Getting a huge haircut is something you have to mentally be in a space for, so I'm definitely excited for you!! ❤️

    People in the USA are so luck. So many good curly hair stylists. The "I cannot put my hair in a ponytail" is what I felt every time someone cut my hair in my country. I always ended up with Darth Vader's short helmet hair.
    Turns out I can't part with short hair anymore, but nowadays I mostly cut it myself. I found a hairstylist here once and she gave a wonderful curly A bob. When I went back to trim the cut she gave me helmet hair. Now I have to find another hairstylist. At least now more of them are popping up in my city.

    • @curlelia

      I used a satin scarf and a bonnet! I have videos on my instagram about it, but I may have to make one for RUclips! Long hair isn't too too difficult. I actually found, for me- having short hair was harder! My hair is so dense that it wasn't as easy to just throw it in a bun you know?

    • @curlelia

      My heat damage came from getting weekly blowouts at the salon, and flat ironing my hair!

    I totally relate ! I wish I would have seen This last May, I was in the exact same situation, after I had my first deva cut and big chopped. It felt so weird and I felt like I don’t look pretty. Couldn’t leave it for long and ended up straightening and damaging my hair all again 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @curlelia
      @curlelia  4 года назад

      It's completely natural to feel like that. I didn't straighten it because I knew that in the long run, I would've caused more harm than good... How's your hair now?!
