She does have one other video I have seen that the girl has really fine curls but the “after” didn’t do any justice. Idk if the hair wasn’t fully dry or what but you couldn’t really see any volume or definition in the girls curls. The hair fell super flat. Of course that could have just been her hair or again it wasn’t fully dry but the video didn’t help.
Gonna chime in for a second on hair texture vs density...the term "fine" only describes your hair's texture, which is the size of the actual hair strands. If you have fine hair, your individual strands are smaller in diameter. Good test to see if you have fine hair is to take a single strand in between two fingers and rub them together. If you can't feel it, your hair strands are fine. Hair DENSITY is something else. This is how much hair you have overall. A good way to tell your approximate density is to take all of your hair, put it into a ponytail, and measure the circumference. Low density hair will be less than two inches, Medium density will measure between two to three inches, and high density will be at least four inches. So the person in the video may have fine hair, but it does't appear to be especially "thin" (or more accurately, LOW DENSITY). For example, my 2C/3A hair is fine and for the longest time I thought it was thin because it always felt and even looked that way to me. One day I decided to find out for sure, I measured my ponytail, and it turns out I have medium density hair (measuring in at a 2.5" circumference). When in doubt, measure - could be you have more hair than you thought. Hopefully this can help with some of the questions popping up. :-)
I find it problematic how there aren't many stylists who get texture description right for this type of curly hair. That woman may have fine textured hair, which means each individual hair is thin and fine but damn she has plenty of hair. I too have the same texture. Fine strands but lots of hair so it's not a misnomer to say she has fine textured, but thick hair.
You're mistaking thin hair with low Vs medium vs high density hair which is related to how much she does have. Thin and fine relate to the diameter of the hair.
Ada - nice video. Thank you for asking the question about what graduated cutting is. She didn't explain it really the first few times, but you kept asking different and she finally did lol. Great questions!
I have curly fine hair (2b-2c curls and waves). I think this customer would have gotten better results if the stylist applied the product differently. I think if she had applied it in a way the would clump the curls together rather than pulling them apart, she would have had a less stringy effect and would have had more definition to her curls. But in the end, the cut was great. I'm just pointing out that the results could have been different - no shade on the stylist, I think this was a great walkthrough!
that girl does not have thin hair she has a lot of hair maybe it's fine but it's not see through, that would be thin. People with true thin hair would take that in a second
Thin vs thick has to do with the diameter of the hair, not how much hair is on the head. I can tell by looking that she has thin fine hair, but a lot of it, in other words, very dense.
You're mistaking thin hair with low Vs medium vs high DENSITY hair which is related to how much she does have. Thin and fine relate to the diameter of the hair.
In the uk, by official standards, Graduation is the offical name for layers. you have long graduation which is what you call 'layers' and then short gradutation which is what she is talking about.
I luv this cut! Ona gives me hope that I can have great hair again! My hair has gotten very thin, and is already fine. I have a question. My hair is super thin in my crown, would you recommend this type a cut?
Kara Creswell : Nasty Girl! Let me assess the situation : Salon-Owner & Professional ‘curly hair specialist’, identifies clients hair, as fine, thin, curly hair VS a Know-it-all. You may have eyes, but do you have a functioning brain?
This video gave me life. 🙌🏻💗 Being stuck in Washington state because my husband is military with fine curly hair has been a disappointment after the other in salons here. I’ll be waiting to go back to NY after his contract ends and all I’m looking forward to is just to get that haircut 💇
Such a wonderful haircut!!!! I love it so much!!! Have tried asking 3 stylist to do it and no luck so far..... hopefully soon there will be a willing one
I know that this is an old video but I just have to say that it’s totally wrong to say that she has thin hair. The girl does not have thin hair. She may have fine hair but it’s not thin. People with fine hair can have thin hair but they can also have thick hair. Fine hair does not = thin hair.
You're mistaking thin hair with low Vs medium vs high density hair which is related to how much she does have. Thin and fine relate to the diameter of the hair.
Working but wanted to say hi!!! Looking forward to learning everything Ona has to share on fine thin curly hair!!! Can’t wait!!! Love it when you and Ona get together!!#vecinafam 🤗😘👏🏼
I really love 💘 ❤ 💕 the way you cut the hair so simple and even i cut my hair just like you do at home it is absolutely great!! And you are a great hairdresser!!!
Part of the cut seems to be missing from this video. How did she cut the back length and layers on the top/back? Otherwise, a very good video for curly haircut. I tried it on my long hair and it looks good even for long hair, creating a rounded volume on the top/ front with length at the sides and back. The crown doesn't look good because I didn't know how to cut the back. Nevertheless, I have been trying to explain this shape to my hairdressers for at least 20 years, without success. My only problem now is that when I pull my hair up into a top bun, I can't get the hair to lie smooth to my scalp and the recesses at the temples are more obvious. It looks ok if I pull my hair back, but I prefer the knot to be at the top of my head. Is this because of the layering at the front?
Did Ona state round graduation only works for hair till down to shoulders, not longer? I have longer hair and always wonder what to do with it. I cut myself because last few times with layers I got the triangle look at hairstylists plus them then thinning out greatly afterwards. I usualky go with long layers but since my hair is curly at the neck and mostly svavy elsewhere with a part 2cm behind n above ear only slightly wavy....It's tricky. I also want volume at the high back but now sorta accept that's tricky to impossible. Better healthy hair that takes minutes to detangle than hairdresser-thinned out broken mess that takes 45 min every time....
Ju Lia I have a similar curl pattern. Feel you on mushroom look....😞 My ends can look so stringy sometimes. You, too? Additionally, I have female pattern hair loss. Double whammy. I gave up on stylists and just cut it myself now. What I do.... Brush hair smooth and put in a low ponytail with a soft scrunchie. Tilt head slightly forward. Pull the scrunchie straight down behind my back. Trim ends straight across. Remove scrunchie. Check to make sure length is even. Then, I may go in and point cut SLIGHTLY! Too much, and I'm stringy again. Sometimes, I angle towards my chin. Sometimes, I pull straight up and trim off wispy ends. Depends on how I'm feeling. After styling/drying, if I have any stringy looking ends, I cut them off. Yep. I said it. Slice 'em off. Curly hair can be very forgiving. Just make sure your shears are SHARP. Or, you'll end up with split ends. Good luck, girl. The struggle is real!
This is seriously amazing! I wish I had a cut like this for my fine curly hair. Perfect shape omg. I really hope I can finally find a stylist who can do this for me.
Wow this is sooo helpful! I had no idea what graduation was but now i can clearly talk to my stylist about what i want, thanks! Immediately subscribed ❤️
she has fine hair but loads of it compared to me. how do you deal with really low density , fine hair. im scared to do anything but all one length, as have had so many bad haircuts.
Love this cut! Have the same type of hair but usually get a Deva cut. If I asked for graduation, would they also be able to give me a cut like this since they cut dry?
I really want to get my hair professionally cut by an actual curly girl pro. Every where I go they just layer my hair when it’s wet and then of course she’s combing it which stretches the curls so when I get home wash it and style it, its always shorter than I wanted and just horrible. I don’t think she knows about graduation style she pulls my hair up when cutting instead of pulling it down and framing like Ona. Ona do you recommend fine hair curly girls getting the rezo cut or one of those fancy cuts that most curly girls get?
0:34 I was wondering if you still work there? Bc I went to the website and under “cuts” your name is not there? I live on Long Island… I cant find anyone to cut my hair! I would love to come see you!
WHERE is your salon? I am in Illinois & I will fly where ever you are. My beautiful thick curly hair fell out from chemo in 2013 & have been trying to grow it out since early 2014 but i have had at least 3 BAD haircuts. I have cried time & again & SUPER frustrated i started trimming it myself. My hair is short & needs to be fixed. I REALLY MISS my long curly locks.😭
Does your hair stylist still work at that Salon...I will definitely make the trip from bklyn to see her...I need to fresh cut and color for the fall! Please let me know 😊
I'm not sure where this salon is located, I'm in Nj and watching 2 years later but that stylist looks like someone I went to cosmetology school with as a teenager. Her name was Anna (I won't post her last name). She was the BEEEST if in fact that's her- she came to my sweet 16 and everything lol.
Vivo en Puerto Rico. Esa estilista no conoce a alguien aca en PR que haga ese recorte? O si pudiera hacer un tutorial para uno mismo hacerse el recorte en casa. MissCharmsie has great videos showing how she styles her low density curls.
I know, right? Click bait.

Also you need porosity and density into the account
2 minutes into this video and I’m already really happy I clicked on it. I’ve got some super fine, curly/wavy hair. This is so helpful. Thank you!
This woman is the "Phoenix" of curly hair. God bless you and endeavors.
Ada - nice video. Thank you for asking the question about what graduated cutting is. She didn't explain it really the first few times, but you kept asking different and she finally did lol. Great questions!
I am suddenly interested in bangs
How would you cut your hair if you have fine, low density hair? The girl in this video has much more hair than I do.

Touching it with dry hands creates frizz so the whole cream definition got ruined
I love how her cut turned out!! It looks so soft and full. Yes!!!! I need Ona to come to my rescue!!!
How do we thin curly heads get a stylist to do this for us?? Do we tell them to give a graduated layering?
that girl does not have thin hair she has a lot of hair maybe it's fine but it's not see through, that would be thin. People with true thin hair would take that in a second

@@louisapproved I thought fine/course is diameter of hair and thin/thick was density? It’s what I’ve always heard described.
In the uk, by official standards, Graduation is the offical name for layers. you have long graduation which is what you call 'layers' and then short gradutation which is what she is talking about.
In the US it's the same thing. Graduation is WHAT your doing to ACHIEVE layers.
Ona cuts my hair now because of you !!! thank you for helping me find my curl savior !!!
Ada, you asked such good questions of the sytlist!
I luv this cut! Ona gives me hope that I can have great hair again! My hair has gotten very thin, and is already fine. I have a question. My hair is super thin in my crown, would you recommend this type a cut?
imslowluv33 I have the same problem. :(
Cute cut. Even though her hair is fine, she has a lot of it, so it doesn't seem very thin. The cut really made it look full.
Thank You! Got this type of haircut after watching this video and it's one of the best cuts I've ever had!
I need Ona in my life...any vecinas wanna road trip from Philly?! Thank you for this video. Ada!! Always coming through with the education.
her hair looks soooo goooodddd Ona is a great professional and an amazing teacher
Awesome and highly informative video! Thank you! Her hair looks healthy, full, and gorgeous! 👏🏽👍🏽💇🏽♀️🤗💖
Her hair may be fine, but it’s certainly not thin.
Kara Creswell I know, I wish I had half that hair! 😕
Kara Creswell : Are you a professional hairstylist, questioning Ona’s assessment of her client’s hair type? Call me curious.
Awilda Jimenez I have eyes...do you?

Omg her voice is giving me ASMR! She's truly a saint
Oh my gosh!!!! This is what I want my hair to be for 2019!!
Thank you for this, I have fine curly hair and may make the trip to her salon.
Her new style looks like so much FUN & AMAZING!!!! I have boring straight/wavy hair :/// I guess the grass is greener :))
I bet the girl getting her hair done was so relaxed. I can about feel how gentle she was.
Trying this cut tonight and no I am not a stylist but I really appreciate you sharing this technique! I'll update later...
I need Ona in my life! ♥
I need Ona in my life 😍🌻 amazing. Thank you and love to all.

Wow! She is a very good teacher. I'm tempted to make the 3hr drive to see her.💇
You ask great questions, too🙂
GORGEOUS!!! Getting ready to see my stylist and get a GRADUATED cut too!!! Thank you so very much!
She could not be cutting my hair with all that talking, while watching this I thought she would cut of an area by mistake! LOL!
Did Ona state round graduation only works for hair till down to shoulders, not longer?

Tremendously grateful for this!!!!!!😍
U asked really good questions
Wow this is sooo helpful! I had no idea what graduation was but now i can clearly talk to my stylist about what i want, thanks! Immediately subscribed ❤️
So beautiful!!! 😍 Ona is a great teacher!
Sería perfecto que hiciera un video en español🥺
she has fine hair but loads of it compared to me. how do you deal with really low density , fine hair. im scared to do anything but all one length, as have had so many bad haircuts.
Love all your videos, Please make a video for thick curly hair, I have you same curl pattern but thicker.
Ada I love your hair, and your videos, thanks you for existing

Really very nice haircut ❤️❤️
Great video ada!!! This makes me amped to get that haircut I been putting off!!

Thx for this video Ada. This is exactly what I want on my hair

OMG this video was sooooooooo informative!! Thank you! ♥️
Wow ....like always great video ... love ❤️ how she explains everything and the questions you asked .. u are the best .... some day you will get that chair
Reporter status, being persistent on getting to the bottom of, What is graduation! Lmao. Gracias.
Love your hair
Looked nice in the end, but saying she has THIN and FINE hair is a bit of a stretch!!! As a person with ACTUAL thin and fine 3b hair, I would KILL to have that much hair!!!! Was looking forward to seeing the end result until I saw HOW MUCH hair she had!!!! I should be so lucky!!!
I have fine, thin hair I just have tons and tons of it. My individual hair shafts are very thin. my hair is also very fine and lightweight. just because she has a lot of hair doesn't mean it isn't thin
Laura Mautz Laura
Exactly!
It's common people thinking like that...
I also have thin, fine and lightweight hair and when people touch it, they say:"oh, I thought your hair was thick and heavy".
When it's dry becomes very bulky, but when it gets wet it looks like baby hair: nothing! 😬
I hear you all. Do we mind if i bring a little definition clarity?
Fine hair describes the strands ( hair texture) but thin hair defines how much hair strands are in a square inch of head( density). So She has fine hair but definitely a lot of density. Terminology sure helps us all say the same thing
I wonder with someone with thick curly hair. If she used the same hair cutting technique. If the hair would come out with big hair and lots of volume
Had to give it a like before even watching cuz I know it going to be good. Will be watching in my bed tonight
Hi, I would love to know where you are located in New York. I don’t live there anymore but,I still go at least once a year. I also have a niece that I want to send to you she lives in Queens.
Thank you!
Really a great professional. I did it by myself and got beautiful !!!!
Thank you very much!!!!🤗😙
You did the haircut yourself ? Look easy to do it by ourself ... Want to try it lol but scare too
I want my hair like that
Great, thx
Love it!!!
I watched the video and i tried to do it myself :D
I need a Ona in my life!!! I live in CT, so I'm not too far, so I'm really debating on making an appt. This video is for me all day. I have fine, curly hair with no volume on the top of my head. So flat, I hate it. And no one near me specializes in curly hair. Not even a Diva cut, even tho I had that cute in MY and it was ok.
There’s a couple curly hair salons in new haven. I’ve been to two. I’m not a fan of deva cuts.
Ke F thank you, I will look into it.
Haven't watched yet BUT I wanted to show you some love soooo brb lol
You are the real MVP! 💖💖💖
Thanks for the tips.
Great vid....that cut 💇 looked Super Cute on her, I would love 💖to do something like that!!! I love it!!!...💇💞🌟🌟👍💖
