My pop used to sneak MY hotrod out of the driveway on Saturday morning as I slept in. He would idle 2 blocks away and then gag it real hard for a couple blocks. I laughed at how he thought he was getting away with it and never let on till his dying day. He enjoyed it and the illusion that he got away with it made me happy too.
@@derekdykeman9160 its ok. But thanks. Building my first engine at 15 waiting to turn old enough to drive, and it making dad have fun when he thought I was asleep made it all worth it. I became a master mechanic for all my life on exotic, high perf., and European luxury cars came from that. Obviously I liked the old boy, eh???
I gave my dad a ride in my 1967 Chevelle one time, but imagine this old school Italian guy from the old country getting a ride in a ten second Chevelle with brutal shifting tire smoking automatic shifts, he said "youu gona busta dat damn trans a mission in dis ting" we never laughed so hard!! great video dads are the best!!!
My dad sold a 1963 Galaxie with dual quad 427, 4-speed, 4:11 gear Custom, back in 1964. Black, red interior, square back, single chrome strip (not dual like a 500) because he fathered twin baby boys. That is love, I loved my dad and understand what sacrifice he made. Good news, car was down the road but my dad was the best. The whole car thing at the very end is just LOVE.
That was a priceless moment of a father & son spending time together. Cherish them while you can because in a blink of an eye a whole lifetime comes to a halt. RIP EBM!
I just teared😢up. Took my dad in my 71 for a few rides, but my car wasn’t fast. We just cruised. Rip Dad❤U but the memories last forever!! Thank you for this video.
Thanks for sharing. Man my dad has been gone for a long time. I used to have a mini tubbed 66 Chevy short bed truck with a 500hp 385ci SBC in it with a 175hp shot Nitros set up. I remember my dad LOVED to make a pass with me every now and again. He always bragged about how fast it was and how great a mechanic I was (which Im really not that great). I loved making him proud of me. It's so nice to see parents share the interests of their children. BTW, nice Chevelle, sounds awesome!
wish Alzheimer's didn't take him from me because he was the one who turned me on to the best things in life, to this day I can paint any part of a house and drive, fix, or detail anything on wheels and then some. love you Dad rest easy Father/Friend/mentor
This was a Awesome video!!!! It is always nice to be able to not just show dad the workmanship you have done, but then to let him feel it.....Priceless!!(I know first hand myself). The world would be a better place if more positive vids like this were seen by everyone instead of violent & negative vids all the time. I liked how dad had a small grin on his face when you slightly got into, but when you downshifted & nailed it, he had a Giant Smile on his face then offered up the knuckles first before you could. Great running/looking car & a cool dad buddy, well done. :)
Never forget my Pops face when he drove up just as my little brother turned off on the highway behind the house after I tuned his '67 327 Camaro. Little brother was banging gears @ 8K. LOL
That was cool. My dad took me for a ride when I wanted to buy my first Chevelle. 80 mph down main St. Tires sqeeling white smoke rolling. Then back through town blasting. Omg I didn't know he was a gear head. Then as we pull back into the car lot car was steaming . Dad got out and looked at the salesman and say umm we're just looking. And we drove away just laughing. Great memories. I ended up with a dark blue Dodge charger SE 318 auto trans. White interior white half vynal top. Good times
I had a '73 Trans Am with a built 455 Super Duty, and I gave my Dad a ride in it. I knew I had to be gentle, otherwise he would complain. I had barely pulled out into the highway when he started complaining "What are you accelerating so fast for?" Needless to say, that was our last ride :L)

My buddy's dad at Minot AFB had a 67 ragtop Cheverly. We drove that car all over as fast as it would go with its 283. Got to college, bought a 71 and loved it. Still resonates in my memory as best car ever I ever had but was not in reality with issues blind to me as a kid with hus first car. Paid 500 bucks in 1981. It fit the time and is still my favorite, no slight to it, but oh yeah, good times. Wish I still had it
