    Hi Joe. I'm in love with my 2018 GS 7spd. I'm not the guy that is going to track my car... I'm just going to drive it, rev it (the sound is amazing) and enjoy it. This is my first Vette, which I never would have thought in a million years I would be able to own one and yet here I am... Proud of it. The enthusiasm you put in this review made me even more excited to own a Vette. Great job... In my humble opinion, just owning a corvette is an awesome thing. It doesn't matter if you have the base model Stingray or gonna get the the big boss Zr1 with the 3zr and the ZTK performance package, you will not go wrong with a Vette in your garage.

    Bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it’s a great car! Huge power, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to cruising smooth in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX.

    A 6.2-liter V-8 engine with a dry-sump oiling system, and 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, I think he said 455. I mean its only 5HP but we GS owners already a little short on the ponies don't take 5 from us LOL. Good Video all he said is true.

  • @royalcrown010

    Love your passion, man. Couple tid bits. The vents above the rear fenders don't cool the brakes. The passenger side vent is a rear differential cooler and the other is a transmission cooler. The Stingray with a Z51 package also has this. Also, the slotted carbon ceramic disk brakes come on the Stingray Z51. I think the only difference between the Z51 Stingray and the Grand Sport is the GS has the wide fenders, front grille, side skirts, rear brake ducts and spoiler of the Z06.

    Why won't they add parking sensors, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, and all the other new assistance aids? They can't say weight as that's not much weight savings. For this car to be going into 2019 and at that price point they need to up the options.

    I'm about to collect a Grand Sport, but I think I'm just gonna leave the spoiler as it is. Can't be bothered to keep readjusting the wing with keys every now and then. Most cars have a button u press or it automatically adjusts itself to the driver setting. But aside from that, I can't wait to get behind the wheel and open up the exhausts! Beautiful car

    On the GRAND SPORT it should have more ponies. Between the additional down force & wider tires (Z07) it would be awesome if Chevy included an updated version LS7. That's the reasoning why the tall adjustable rear spoiler NOT INCLUDED. GREAT JOB.

    The grandsport corvette is a nice well prepped corvette its needs a naturaly aspirated motor that zings rpm like the z06 C6 and a little more horsepower like around 500 to 550 hp that would give a you a well balanced revving corvette.

    The GS has the Z06 brakes and suspension/handling with the stock engine. There are some cosmetic changes and brake-cooling vents. It's an upgrade from the base. I have the C6 GS which also has a dry-sump and oil-cooler. The base doesn't have these.

    Nice ride. Love the Grand Sport & prefer it to the Z06. If I wanted similar performance to the Z06 I'd save $25K-$30K & buy a ZL1, plus I'd get that amazing 10 spd auto. However, I'd be able to have just as much fun with a GS for less money.

    When I started watching the video I thought "that looks like Dimmitt Chevrolet. Where I bought my '17 Stingray". Then I saw the rear plate.
    I decided to save some money and go with the base 'vette, since it's my daily driver. I never intend to take it to a track. I like the looks of the GS, but I can't justify an extra 15G just for the looks and the extra performance I would never use.

    This is a really good review, I am considering buying. Corvette this year, I was Thinking Stingray because it has naturally aspirated engine, but I like the style of ZO6, but really don’t need the performance, I just want a daily driver, so Grand Sport seems like a good option, plus I make RUclips videos, I think there will be room for performance upgrades that would make some good videos, I really like the ZL1 styling but it’s like 120k so I wonder, would it make sense to buy a stingray then just buy ZL1 Kit or something, it really gives it the face lift then plus buying a Stingray it will be 10k cheeper leaving room for upgrades

    • @RaitisRides

  • @EK-rr2md

    The GS has always been the imitation z06. When the z06s came out during the last generation everyone loved the better looking wide body. GM capitalized on this by offering the looks of the z06 without any of the performance and continued that trend with this generation. To me it takes away from the uniqueness of the higher performance model and really waters it down.
    Here are a couple of corrections as well:
    Those vents on the rear quarter panel are for transmission cooler (driver side) and diff cooler (passenger side).
    The lower vents are not color matched on the z06 although they can be ordered that way on both the GS and Z06.
    You cannot adjust the angle of the rear wicker bill. If you have the z07 package you can raise and lower the center section.

    • @RaitisRides
      @RaitisRides  6 лет назад +1

      I really appreciate your feedback! You have an eye for detail and I like that. If you remember back to 1991 Chevrolet did the same thing with the ZR1 and standard Corvette. When the ZR1 first appeared in 1990 it was distinctive by the rounded rear body work. In 1991 when they updated the bodywork both the standard Corvette and the ZR1 had rounded front and rear bodywork. To the trained eye you can notice the differences such as: where the third brake light was mounted, the rear bodywork was actually wider then the standard Corvette because of the wider rear wheels, and the lower rocker panels on the ZR1. Are you looking forward to the new ZR1?.

    • @EK-rr2md
      @EK-rr2md 6 лет назад +1

      Not really looking forward to the ZR1. To me this ZR1 is what the current z06 should have been. The last gen z06 was a great track car and this one definitely disappointed with all the overheating issues. The ZR1 corrects all of that but doesn't quite set itself that far apart from the z06 like the last gen ZR1 did. They essentially just added a bigger SC and some aero bits. With that said, I am sure it will be an awesome performer. I am more interested in the mid-engine vette. I have owned 2 generations of z06 vette and may get back into a corvette if the mid-engine is worth it.

    • @RaitisRides
      @RaitisRides  6 лет назад +1

      Erek K a mid-engine Corvette is really going to be a game changer. It’s crazy how many decades Chevrolet has been thinking about going that direction.

    • @RaitisRides
      @RaitisRides  6 лет назад

      Erek K just curious why did you ever get rid of your Z06?

    • @EK-rr2md
      @EK-rr2md 6 лет назад +2

      Raiti's Rides I traded the z06 in for a GTR. The GTR was fun but got very boring after awhile. I really started to miss having a manual transmission and I realized that even though I can't shift as fast as a DCT it is more important to me to have an engaging car. So I ended up trading the GTR in for my current 2015 Viper. It has been my favorite car so far. You should try reviewing one if you haven't already.

    Why buy a grandsport was the flag on your video I feel the same way buy one they have the same engine that my Z51 engine you get all the rim problems that the Z06 has with out the performance your better off in my opinion to buy a Z51 it's lighter quicker car for less money my 3LT Z51 with a added 8K supercharger it runs with the big boys for less than you can buy a plain jane Grandsport

      The Z51 package only applies to Stingrays. Ducts in front of rear wheels are for brake cooling, upper right rear duct is for differential cooling, left side upper duct is for transmission cooling. Rear wheel diameter is 20" not 22" as you stated. Z06's are subject to gas guzzler tax with A8 transmission.

    • @RaitisRides
      @RaitisRides  6 лет назад

      J. Spencer I’ve already admitted in other replies to the video that I tripped over my thoughts when it cam to the Z51 confusion. I understand now what the tear ducts are for. I was saying that the car had 22s. I was talking about how the cars have different diameter wheels in the front compared to the rear. The whole mentioning of 22 wheels was in reference of why it is set up that way. I did a video on a GS not a ZO6 so gas guzzler does not apply to the GS. Thank you for your feedback.
