- In this ASMR wood turning project I create a stylised bowl design which I have had success with in the past. This turning shows off the amazing grain of ash with the added interest provided with the epoxy resin inlay.
If you have any questions regarding the project please leave them below and I will answer the best I can.
This woodturning channel, explores the uses of wood when combined with resin, epoxy, to make woodturning projects, that are easy and can be classed as art. A lot of the wood turning projects I make can be completed by the beginner through to the more experienced wood turner. If you have any ideas for artwork, wood inlays, epoxy projects please get in touch. Collaborations are always welcomes.

A little bit of bling goes a long way here. Nice and creative use of wood here as per.
Thanks Louis 😃
Just the right amount of epoxy. Nice, Mike. Nice.
Thanks Hubert 👍, wow you have delved into the past with this one 😀
Very creative way to make an imperfect blank into something beautiful.
Thanks Ted 😊
Love the expo y colour against the blonde wood.
Me too 😊
Ah! Very nice! So sleek! You could probably wood turn something very similar to the Jupiter II from TVs Lost in Space. This bowl is VERY cool! Nice way to bring Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2024 to a close.
Thanks, I think a proper Jupiter bowl would be a cool idea 😀
Love the soundtrack!
Haha wow, you are a long way back in my videos lol 😀
Epoxy corner...cool!
Thanks 😀
You have so much skill to make these beautiful pieces!
Thanks so much Bonnie 😊
This is the first time I've seen this video a great bowl, how your turning has changed in two years for the better 👏 will to see if I've missed some more early one's.
Thanks John, things have certainly changed over time 😀
Beauty as always , sweet sound of creating art
Wow one of my old ones lol, still love this shape 😀
I think it’s perfect in its simplicity of formand beauty of grain. You make it look so easy😊
😊
Thanks so much Bev 😄
Nice shape to this one Mike, liking the inlay as well 👍
Thanks Paul, this is my favourite shape to make, something about the simplicity I just love 😀
I missed this one! 😮
Glad I came back and checked 🙂
Beautiful bowl and excellent choice of colour Mrs H! 😉
Lol thanks, she has a great eye for colour ☺️
Super design. I see many variations. Thanks
Thanks Max, I love this shape 😁
Really pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for the video. You have great ideas.
Glad you like them! All the best, Mike
Definitely see what you mean about not much variation in color. The shallow curve seems to have maximized what variation there is, esp. on the top side. I also like how the red resin pops against the mostly pale grain.
Thanks, this is still my favorite shape to turn 😁
Very very very smart! Loving that colour! Very well executed! 💕
Thanks Dick, I let my wife choose the colour 😀
@@MikeHolton 🤣🤣🤣 that explains it
Mike another wonderful piece I was just watching older videos of yours impressed with all...was wondering if you would do a video on salt and pepper mills in the future in the new shop would love to see your take on them..by the way my pro grind sharpening system arrives tomorrow and am so excited not to have to sharpen by hand thank you again for video on sharpening....
No problem James and I will certainly give them a go. I did consider making a few videos on all the kits you can buy 😀
Fantastico!
Thanks 🙏
Looks nice, good shape. I would have liked to see Walnut Inlay not a fan of plastic or resin.
A walnut inlay would have been a beautiful contrast to the ash. 😀
Where and what do use to make the color for the epoxy and what type of epoxy do you use. Thank you for your response.
Hi Stephen, I have used all sorts of epoxy over the years but currently I use this: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B079BWZX2Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As long as it's clear they all seem to do the same job. The colour in this one was mica powder, they are easy to get hold of and mix well with the epoxy. Hope this helps, if you need anything else just drop me a line. Mike
The final camera angle seems to show an uneven surface on the epoxy inlay, was that right? If so how would you fix that?
Hi Mick, the surface is smooth it's just the variation in the colour that gives the effect.
