- Women’s hair and their relationship with their faith are often seamlessly intertwined. So, it comes as no surprise that some nuns cover their hair for a very specific reason.

So much respect for the nuns 🙏🏻
They are the true strength. I worked in a convent
The things that the nuns told me was so disturbing
Another of them were 12 13 when they came to the convent. There parents couldn't afford to care for them so they were given to the church. They were brought over by ship to the states. Many from Ireland
Many times there were sisters so 2 or 3 girls from one family. I will never forget them
Incorrect at 2:46-- St. Scholastica, the sister of S. Benedict (who you had just mentioned), was an abbess, and regarded as the foundress of Benedictine nuns-- so that was back in the 6th Century. St. Clare, in the 13th Century, was the follower of S. Francis, a friar-- a different movement from the enclosed monks and nuns; though she and other women would have been enclosed, at that time. So there were nuns at least 600 years before the 13 century-- if not before!
As a Catholic, who has a lot of admiration of those who devote their lives to vocation, I have far more respect for nuns than I do for the priests. While many men enter the priesthood because they are genuinely interested in serving the community, it is also a path to power within the Catholic hierarchy. So the priestly vocation can attract the ambitious and those with less than virtuous motives. When a woman strives to be a nun, she knows from the outset that such a vocation will not garner her glory or influence. Hence, for the most part, the vocation attracts some of the best women.
A woman's long hair, is the true head covering!
but just for her & her husband
@@worldview730if my husband covers his head outside for me. And also wears long vests no matter how hot it is outside for me.
I'll have a long talk with him abt how he shouldn't go to such an extent bc of anyone
You're just a man, your wife doesn't owe you anything

Hijab is meant to protect the Women outside of her home from Perverts and Strangers, and she can wear whatever she likes in her home.

The only video I've seen from you guys is the one on Layne stayley
Loved it
St. Clare shaved her head as a sign of Piety? And Paul said what?
what?
But she also wore a habit.
Just think, all this dogma of covering one's head, came from men. Hmmm
then all women would rebel
And?

And it's bullshite

Not at all, what part of my comment are you concerned with?
Our nuns at school would sometimes go without head coverings
Thank you
Interesting
I don't remember Jesus ever saying anything about women covering their heads in any of the Gospels.
St. Paul really liked telling people what to do, there's a big difference between his teachings and Jesus's. I wish there was more attention paid to what Jesus actually said than what Paul said that Jesus said.
@@rubytuesdayphoenixMuslims right?
I just remember when i google Mother Mary, she always covering her hair in Google images
1 Corinthians 11
Because in this time it was normal for women to cover their hair. Basically all women you hear from in the Bible wore veils.
St Paul said what 😵💫
Nuns and sisters are not ordained. They take vows and are consecrated.
True. The video was also incorrect about that (re: S. Clare), and S. Francis wasn't a bishop. But she spent some time in a Benedictine monastery, at first, so she must have made her vows there. I think S. Francis just rec'd her as a Franciscan. Not sure how all that was done, as Benedictines also make vows of stability.
A nun's habit is in partly designed to deemphasize their sexuality, making their commitment to chastity that much easier. The apparel attempts to minimize men being tempted. Hair has always been seen as a very alluring aspect of a woman's beauty, hence covering it is a means of deterring the male gaze. With that said, for some men, a nun's habit has the exact opposite effect. They find the "forbidden fruit" aspect of a nun's uniform and vocation more enticing. To be candid, I am one of those men. I find a nun's uniform more arousing than a woman in a bikini. I don't know what that says about me. 🤨
What about the whiffle?
So you mean "wimple"? LOL.
Their personal choice 🙏 get in the habit
Why cover their locks? Because god likes hats.
Remember the bible was written by men and they like to keep women under their control
Cast aside vanity by covering hair and the identical dress was to lose personal selfishness and share a deeper sense of community.
Why normal Christians not wear it
Because those women are not preaching
It's optional. A lot of women do wear head-coverings or veils in church.
Religion is so weird.
life is weird for those who don't agree
Yes! Fr 😐
Have you tried to read the Quran ?
Its so simple and straight forward
@@iTzNice01 I like the illustrated version of the Quran. That guy, Mohammed, is very handsome. I understand he is quite the ladies man.
this video stems in misquoted biblical verses😂
This channel has a great deal of misinformation and disinformation.
The Nuns copied after the Muslim women
Women in the ancient world covered their hair, unless they were prostitutes.
Nuns predated Mohammed.
@@michaelplunkett8059 Muhammad didnt create Islam, Muslim means one who submits to God alone, thats what even Adam believed, Jesus, Moses, all did it, they only worshipped God
