    great explanation, thank you. I'm New to being DM so I'm setting this up to play with a few new players and to have a spare one shot flushed out if or when i ever need a filler session for what will be my main group of players. Thanx again 🏴‍☠🤙

    I didn't even notice there were 3 giant centipedes. I thought that the well room just had one

    Great explanation! Would love to see more one-shots explanations like this! I really like your Inn map too! Where did you get it from?

      I honestly don't remember where I got the map. I probably just googled inn map 5e. I am working on more one shot videos. Thanks for your feedback!

    This one shot will be my first time DMing and it will be my 2 roommates first time playing the game, I was wondering what could happen if the players avoid the centipede room altogether? should glowkindle sent them back or should I just finish up the story anyway? Great video helping me prepare! I'm way more confident now👍

      I'm about to run this campaign for my first time DM'ing and my friends first time playing. I think I'll try to lead them by saying the Lab door is shut and they see faint movement in the Well room. If they still skip it, I'd probably monitor the combat with the Spider and have the centipedes join in during the commotion. Good luck!

      I am glad this helped! It can be scary dming for the first time but remember, without you there is no game. As long as you and the players are having fun, nothing else really matters.

    Hey, fantastic video! How would you suggest to set up the encounters for a group of 3 totally new players? (DM - me + 2 friends playing). Cut down the number of rats? Change up their stats?

    • @thelaughinghydra
      @thelaughinghydra  Год назад +3

      Yes, definitely cut down on the rats. I'd say 3, maybe 4 rats for to pc's. I'd probably cut the inferno spiders health by close to half. And just 1 centipede.

    So I'm running this next week for my first time DMing (I've been a player before now) I've got 8 players wanting a game, its a small local gaming club, so the first chance people got to try something other than 40k they jumped on it. What adjustments would you recommend? No one has picked magic users like wizards and no one has gone cleric for heals.
    Was thinking of uping the rats to 10 and 4 centipedes, and adding some extra hp onto the spider.

    • @paulmag91
      @paulmag91 11 месяцев назад +1

      With 8 players you could consider just splitting them into two groups of 4 and run the adventure once for each of them, then it will be more properly scaled. 8 players is a lot in general and will probably make the game quite slow and each of them will not get to do so much.
      If you still want to do it with 8 players, then yes, increase the number of enemies by some. For the Inferno Spider there is a problem with action economy. Even with double hit points it will probably become trivial, because they will get to attack it 8 times each round. So, either give it multiple attacks, or, even better, add some additional spider minions. F.ex. add 2x Giant Wolf Spider (CR 1/4) as its brood. You can replace their poison damage with fire to fit with the fire theme.
      Another thing, this dungeon will become very crammed with 8 characters. With the 10 rats that becomes 18 creatures in the first room! I would remake the map the be slightly bigger. Make the hallway 10 feet wide instead of 5 and make each of the rooms at least 5 feet wider and 5 feet longer.
      I guess you are lucky that none of the 8 players picked a spellcaster, as that will make their turns a bit less complicated and quicker. :D

      @@paulmag91 thanks for the reply. Yeah unfortunately it's only a once a week club with 10 people total. I offered to run a game and 8 out of the 9 other people at the club wanted a game, so as we tend to cycle through games and people wanted to try it I said ok.
      Thanks for the tips on what I can do, especially making the dungeon bigger, I hadn't even considered that, and adding the extra spiders for a brood!
