    Our hips do so much work for us all day every day, it's no wonder we experience their opening as an emotionally wrought unfolding. This class is a safe, open-level Vinyasa flow designed to bring responsible heat into the hips before exploring their full range of motion. Some yoga experience is helpful. Prop suggestions and modifications are offered.
    We begin with an intention and seated Ujjayi breathing before we move into hip-warming and ultimately hip-opening sequences. Our standing poses call for work in the supporting structures of our hips, from the hip flexors to the external rotators to the glutes to the adductors. When the body is sufficiently warm, we move into powerful but sweet seated shapes that get into every nook and cranny of the hips! In the latter half, emphasis is on opening the outer and inner hips in a way that feels deep but restorative.
    This class is great for athletes and anyone looking to feel more comfort in Lotus position.

    The pace and rhythm of this class made all the poses feel easy and accessible. Even though we opened the hips quite deeply, it felt like a gentle, restorative class.

    Leigh, thank you so much for all your videos. I have been an avid follower for 3 years now. Based on the joy I felt after so many amazing practices I decided I wanted to become a yoga teacher. As a stay at home mom I knew it would be a big undertaking, finding a teacher training and that it entails. But one of the best decisions I have ever made.     Hi Leigha! I wanted to say THANK YOU for this class - it's so wonderful for my oh-so-tight hips. I was able to get into lotus at the end of this practice, which has historically been very difficult for me.
    I love your 45 - 60 min videos, I use them all the time for my home practice. I appreciate that you do voice over - your cues and instructions for props/modifications are great. I also love that you smile during your practice; you look so blissful.
    My only suggestion would be to add a minute or two of guided relaxation for savasana - it always seems short.

    I love your videos - yours were the first I discovered when I began practicing yoga regularly about a year and a half ago. What a change this practice has inspired, what light has come into my body, mind, and soul! I pulled my hamstring just over a year ago, and still have a little tightness there, but practicing this today I felt a release of the emotional energy in that area, and am feeling quite free and joyful as I write this now.     I just did 10 of a routine as a challenge... hands to sky, bend back, hands to sky, bend forwards, crow pose, headstand, stand again and hands high... I did 10 its quite demanding. :D

    Thank you so much Leigha! This was wonderful and exactly what I needed after a long day at work, and too many tight muscles from weekend workouts. I loved the creative sequencing in the flow, with going to the back of the mat, and such great cuing that made it all flow seamlessly. Also, my shoulders are thanking you for the few shoulder openers throughout the practice. Thanks again!
    For future recommendations, maybe a flow focus on opening the shoulders, like the front shoulders, in a sequence that progresses to loosen them up and then being able to do bird of paradise for example at the end. I love shoulder openers when they're also mixed in with hip openers.

    Leigha, I found your channel three days ago. I tried to do one of your yoga flows and I could only do 15 min (I was short for 15 min)

    I did ashtanga yoga in 2011 2016 (two weeks ago is when I'm retaking yoga) I lost so much of my flexibility 😳

    I might do this (and possibly diverge a bit from it in places with the help of the pause button before rejoining again) tomorrow morning for a slight change upon my usual variations before heading out. I like that there aren't too many downdogs -- these days that posture doesn't sit well with my stomach unfortunately.

      I think this is probably a better one to do in the evening (it's quite a nice non-vigorous class with bits to activate your muscles and warm up a bit and then stretches), but I just skipped the longer holds and did more extended moving things on the same muscles (or did them and just moved in and out of them), and just did the stretched lightly or actively at the end. :) It did the trick, thanks. :)

    Hi Thanks for this video, loved it ☺ I'm new to yoga but quickly realised I have very poor outer hip flexibility, inner hip isn't great either, by comparison to the rest of me. Please could you do another video to help outer hip flexibility if you get chance? Or any tips to stretch them out? Thanks
