McLaren(and Red Bull) really should have pressed the FIA for Hamilton's penalty perhaps. Imagine they could have updated him there in the cockpit 'Carlos, we just received confirmation from the FIA, Hamilton's received a time-penalty and is therefor put back, behind you on the final ranking. You did it Smooth Operator! You're on the podium! This guy raced his bálls off, and did só damn well, lousy Hamilton just wanted to be in the spotlight again: He jerk admitted right after he god out of his car(walkin to the ceremony) that it was his mistake... If he knew, and was sportman enough to admit it there,,, why not a few minutes earlyer, and drive into the pit, and to tell em to ping Sainz... Small detail...

It's ridiculous how long it took the stewards to get the decission on Hamilton's penalty out.. This man deserved his podium and it being his first in F1 he should've been up there with Gasly and Max..
Going by for example USA 2017, the decission to give Verstappen a 5 sec time penalty for his overtake on kimi which in my opinion was a much less obvious decission to make given all circumstances they were able to get a decission out in time to get Kimi on the podium regardless. And for this they can't decide wether to give a penalty or not to hamilton even though they have about 4 laps to discuss something that was a rather open-shut.. case.
This decission should've been prioritized by the stewards and taken into account how the podium would've changed by given Hamilton the penalty they were always going to give him anyway..
This poor man drove a hell of a race to get his first ever podium in F1 in the end and got completely stripped of getting that feeling of being up there for the very first time during celebrations.. All he got was, "oh Hamilton, glad you're here, hope you enjoyed all celebrations a nice picture of what could've been. But now we're gonna have to give the trophy to Carlos here" Shame on you FIA.

    • @dyingearth

Hamilton didn't even put up a defense. The problem is that stewards have to address all incidents chronologically, and the Hamilton-Albon crash is literally the last item on their list of things to address.

I like that he hasn''t ups and downs, he simply produce. Do not forget Austria 2019, that was masterpiece. I am a big fan of Alonso and I see lots of similarities in their drivings. I think with a top car he will be a contender. He fought very well with Max, when they were in Toro Rosso and his drivings are a lot more stable than him now. Only the future know what will happen, but I want Carlos to win the championship before Max and Charles.
