    I really appreciate a video like this. Hardly anyone talks about district order. My only caveat to your advice is if you see a really good district, like a +4 or more campus, build it even if you're not going for a science victory. I sometimes even throw the occasional holy site down next to a natural wonder just for a little faith. Again thanks for the tips.

    • @TheCivLifeR
      @TheCivLifeR  2 года назад +62

      thats something I should have said, a really good district is most definitely worth it even if it isn't of your preferred victory type

    • @matsiv5707
      @matsiv5707 3 месяца назад

      you still want your unique district most of the time to take advantage of discounting. If you're a religious civ 100% holy site into discount everything else is better even if you would get a short term gain from building a campus. Faith + monumentality is too good for early tempo compared to almost anything else outside of a good etemenanki

    Definitely agree with the commerical hubs first before industrial zones in science victories, the only real exception I find is if you are using an oracle+pingala strategy. For that specific city, I would do the industrial zone first, since that lets you sweep all the great engineers to jumpstart your midgame wonders faster.

    I’ve changed my strategy and it’s been working out well for me in Domination and Science victories. In my 1st city, I build a Holy site 1st. Why? Simple. First of all, getting a religion quickly let’s me get the best choices to pick from. Depending on where I am on the map, if I am stuck in an area with poor food availability, I can get +3 food and +2 housing with every site with a shrine and temple. Or I can opt for Wats with their +2 science +3 faith. I always choose to buy settlers and builders and military units with faith and with holy sites in every city, those faith points add up quite nicely. Being able to buy units with faith frees up the gold and production for other things. With the other cities I like to build campuses with libraries and universities as quickly as possible, getting as much science as I can so that I can skip over much of the middle game units and head for flight so I can get bombers. I like to take out the city walls with them and then send in the melee units to capture. I loose a lot less units that way, but you can’t send in the bombers if the city is still in a fog. If you start sending in units the AI will kill them off before you can take out the walls. This is where the faith comes in. I buy lots of missionaries and send them in to light the way. Once the walls are down I send in the troops and keep rebasing the bombers to the cities I just captured and keep moving it down the line until that civ is gone. The third reason why I always get holy sites in a Domination game is for the amenities they provide. Let’s face it, sooner or later you need as many of them as you can get, and religions sure help out. Lastly, if you screw up and are getting your ass handed to you by the AI, you can always retreat, hole up and fortify yourself and switch to a religious victory instead and you will already have your religion going for you. Anyways, just my 2 cents

    • @aidano7583
      @aidano7583 9 месяцев назад

      i played a few multiplayer games where i went for culture or science and accidentally won on faith before turn 70 because I was able to have 7 cities a turn by buying settlers with faith. Their faith cost is cheaper and unlike gold, does not get charged upkeep cost so 100% the best way to go in gs

    Gov plaza is always op. CHs/Harbors help culture victory for +25% tourism buff from trade routes.
    On a side note, you should try to squeeze a late Harbor or an Encampment in your spacerace cities for the +15% production card.

    Probably worth noting that priority may be modified by unique districts or abilities as well. Holy site may be an early take for faith domination civs for instance, or you may spam industrial zones a lot more on any victory type with Gaul. Obviously you can't cover all those eventualities in one video, but people should consider if they for some special ability reason benefit from their unique district or something and want to add it too the mix.

    How about Preserves? I really don't think they are worth of you can't get the surrounding tiles to breathtaking, but I secretly love them.
    I believe they require less production then other districts to deliver good amounts of yields.
    However, you naturally need the breathtaking tiles and the population, so they are very map dependent.
    I would say they help in religious, culture and even science victories.

    • @ShaqPlaque
      @ShaqPlaque 2 года назад +1

      Preserves are very slow to get online, as you need buildings in them before they do much. They're best when paired with a leader that can do something unique with them. For example, Pachacuti can work mountain tiles, and Bull Moose Teddy gets other bonus yields from Breathtaking tiles. Placing Preserves can be awkward, especially if there's water on your map.

    • @Phlebas

      I'd say it's the same as the domination victory build order, mainly because the best way to end up with a high score is to conquer most of the world. Looking through my top-scoring games on the Hall of Fame, none of them were peaceful. They weren't all domination games, but all of them involved a lot of war-mongering.
      Personally, I wish score were calculated differently (a 250 turn science victory probably won't net you a high score, despite the fact that it's pretty impressive), but oh well.

    For Diplomacy, you forgot Industrial Zones, for the Carbon Recapture project. Granted, you don't get that until extreme late game (and until then, IZs may be a liability due to pollution), but still. not even an honorable mention for IZs...
    I would also like to point out that IZs and Campuses are useful (but not required) for a Tourism game. There are a few Great Engineers that give tourism, and Mary Leaky is OP if you have artifacts. Problem is, when it;s her turn to spawn, there's a chance (a good one at that) that you'll be screwed, simply because you won't have the opportunity to get her. Some GS you don't want will spawn, so you pass on it, and the next civ with enough GS points grabs the one you skipped, and a third will grab Mary Leaky. That happens to Potato ALL THE TIME!!!)

I appreciate the effort for content but as far as strategy is concerned, this one is a bad video i think. any discussion regarding district order should take account first of all of what is the victory condition (you got this one right) then what civs is being played, then what othger civs and city states are involved, and then location and adjacencies. its a complex process thats why i think the video showing fast forward gameplay sucks in terms of making your points understood.

    I've watched many of your vids, and I see that at the end of your videos you show how 80% of the viewers aren't subscribed some times.
    I mean, most of the times, when I watch one of your videos, I cringe to some of the comments you make, to be honest, in this case it was the babies suckling some bullshit at the beginning. I am here for advice on civ 6 no to hear how it compares to babies suckling anything.
    When your phone rings and you loudly shout at it 😒 and tell it how is not important (wtf), and that is another time I tell myself "why am I watching this?"
    Then, in this video, as an example, the thumbnail states "why you never build a campus first in civ 6", which interested me, although I thought it was bullshit... and literally in option "b" of the first part, you tell us to build a campus first (domination victory, late war, campus, econimoic and encampment).
    This is it, I stopped the video in that second and when I finish this comment, I'll set the "don't recommend this channel" tick on the suggestions tab. I quit. Talk too fast, too loud, too much bullshit and now click bate... Hope this is feedback enough to understand why no one subscribe.
    Goodbye.
