WOW I DIDN'T REALIZE HE WAS ONE GREAT GREAT SINGER AS WELL AS DANCER THAT WAS TOTALLY FANTASTIC GREAT GREAT JOB GEORGE HE IS ONE EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMER.
I simply cannot get enough of listening to George Chakiris sing and dance acting and ordering from his fantastic silver jewelry collection and he is an officer to…… Wow it just doesn’t get any better than George exclamation
Dude could sing! He could have been a crooner easily. Sing, dance, act. Today, there are superstars that don't have half his talent. I don't know how his stardom from West Side Story didn't propel him to mega stardom, but he sure could have been for many years.
But the same thing happened to Rita Moreno. Such a talent, yet she didn't get any parts for, I think it was 8 years, after winning the Oscar for West Side Story
George is i’m totally talented sometimes it’s so hard to comprehend I can’t believe what I’m seeing on the screen wow flexibility he’s done things that I have never seen before and he smiles and he breeze right the breathing is right everything is right I just can’t get over it I just watch and feel so good ,,,,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HEY, WHAT DOES THIS GUY EAT?..LOOKS JUST THE SAME.....I MET GEORGE WHEN HE WAS AT EUGENE LORING'S STUDIO IN HOLLYWOOD IN 1958..VERY NICE & GRACIOUS GUY.....HE WAS 24, & I WAS 23...IWAS DATING YVONNE CRAIG (BATGIRL) & WE ALL WENT FOR BURGERS & SHAKES..YEP, A REAL PRO.......JACK ENGLISH..(A JET IN WSS IN SF, 1961-62, AFTER ARMY SERVICE, WITH RUSS TAMBLYN)..10/30/2018
Of course, West Side Story; a 1967 television production of Kismet With José Ferrer, Barbara Eden, Anna Maria Alberghetti and Hans Conried; the others were probably variety guest spots and the last one was with Catherine Deneuve and Gene Kelly in Jacques Demy's French musical Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (1967) 🙂
You captured all the highlights. We are screening "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort" at UCLA Film & Television Archive in a Tribute to George Chakiris Saturday November 16, 2013. George will be there, in person, for an interview.
Not sure which one you're speaking of. The song in the black and white sequence is "Stranger in Paradise" from the musical Kismet. The color sequence is "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel. Just a heads up, the og by Billy Joel isn't as upbeat as this rendition.

Great Bernardo - so graceful - loved his performance and delivery ….
Was always my wife’s favorite. She had her bedroom painted purple to match his shirt in West Side Story.

See him in all his glory with Yul Brynner = Kings of the Sun. Amazing, both of them.
Yes!!
I didn't know he could sing because he didn't sing much in West Side Story. he had a beautiful voice.

Interesting! Thank you...
Icon! And it should be noted how much Michael Jackson apparently was influenced by him. “Beat It”and “The Way You Make Me Feel”. Both Virgo ♍️
I never saw this before!
I was waiting for his dance number with Rosemary Clooney in White Christmas.
Or 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend' with Marilyn in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'.
@@blackmore4 Yes! And he was at Marilyn's 60th memorial this year also.
Many of these sequences are from TV as well as film.
what was the last film?? (The one in color)
The Young Girls of Rochefort (France, 1967)

What is the musical in the streets 3:46 ?
I had no idea George Chakiris was such a flamboyant homosexual.
Flamboyant? I’ve never heard a single thing about his lovers, although I knew he was gay.

With a name like HOGG, I'm sure you can't get a date!
I think all of the Jetts and Sharks were gay! 😂
@@phillycatladyI agree. Never heard a negative thing about him. Everybody's comments always mentioned his kindness and positive attitude.😅
