this was my mom's favorite song, when she was sick with cancer I would play this song for her, I would help her into my room, sit her in my chair and she would close her eyes and escape her illness for a few minutes, Rest in peace Mom.

Barbra Streisand is hands down the Best singer of the last 60 years. In fact, so is the only singer male or female to have a #1 hit in every decade of the past 60 years!
Barbara is officially recognized as one of the greatest female singers in modern music. Kris Kristofferson is a powerhouse country artist. Beautiful song.

The acting during that one scene alone was Oscar worthy. The range of emotions she went through was just amazing.

@@michaelasay8587 I personally prefer Karen carpenter myself, but comparing the two are like comparing apples and oranges.. Streisand actually said that karen had a "marvelous instrument"... Karen's brother Richard, told karen, that she was just as good as streisand, just in a different way. Karen sadly had extreme low self worth and could never believe such words. Paul Mccartney thought she had the greatest voice in the world, and John Lennon told her "I just want to tell you, you have a fabulous voice luv"...In closing, I always felt that Karen Carpenter was the ULTIMATE vocalist who sang to us the listener and NOT AT US...
@@tomschmitz261 I agree--it is apples and oranges. Their voices are very different and both beautiful. Some like Barbra, some prefer Karen's. Thankfully, in regards to vocals, music, visual arts, drama, literary works, we have so much to choose from, and the way two people respond to the same work is never the same. (Though I do have an identical twin and we sometimes come really close...🤓🤓)

Another great love song from a movie is: "Love Story" ('68?), movie with the same name and the single was sung by Andy Williams. Definitely a few of the best ever. She most definitely one of the icons of American Music, arguably the most accomplished and recognized female voices ever. Very nice reaction.

This is one, if not my favourite, of Barb's songs. Still play it from time to time when I'm alone. Love to be immersed in the highs n lows of this uniquely beautiful song which evokes your imagination, lyrically speaking. One of the best power-house voices with a phenomenal top register of all time in my opinion. Also worth noting, I'm truly amazed how she could sustain those notes without fumbling with Kris Kristofferson being so wonderfully distracting🥴 lol. Streisand wanted Elvis to play her love interest in this version of "A Star is Born", but manager Colonel Parker ruined the negotiations and Elvis didn't get the part that he wanted so badly.

Barbra Streisand was one of those actresses that could be believable as a goofy dork, a devoted daughter, a regular woman in love, or a temptress one minute and a signing phenomenon the next. And sometimes she did both at the same time. What makes her special is that she acts the songs, she doesn't just sign them. So without context we aren't sure what is performance and what is real Barbra.
She is 80yrs old now I think.

That scene is from the second remake of “A Star is Born” with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The movie was remade again a few years ago with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Original was in 1937 and the first remake was in 1954 with Judy Garland. The storyline was a little different but the premise the same. This song was everywhere back in the late seventies and really is beautiful. I recommend you guys watch both the 1976 and 2018 versions of the movie if you haven’t, they are both great.
Third remake the second remake was Judy Garland the original was Janet Gaynor but was not a musical ☮️❤️

Barbra Streisand = a rabbit hole you absolutely MUST jump into. Early (1962) live version of My Man is incredible. So is her rendition of Somewhere from the play/movie WEST SIDE STORY (you shouldn't miss the 1962 movie version. One of the best movies ever - with exquisite music!!!!! Barbra wasn't in it, but she eventually recorded several songs from it) Of course, just about anything by Barbra is quite special. One of my favorite recordings of hers is What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life. Jump into the Barbra rabbit hole & be entertained like you won't believe!!!!!
That is such a beautiful thought Mel, I know what you mean. I like to be around people who love each other too. Especially couples that show their love for one another by talking kind and sweet to each other and especially so when they are around their children. My mom and dad, had many pet names for each other and as kids it always made me happy when they would hug or when dad would put his arm around mom's shoulders and spoke to her with these sweet endearments. My husband did not grow up around that , but when he saw my parents he thought it was beautiful too and that is something we have incorporated into our marriage. We have often thru the been called the "love birds". I would not want it any other way.

This Star Is Born is a remake of the 50's version with Judy Garland, one of my favorite movies and Barbara is a hard act to follow. Her voice is hard to match and I would recommend watching this movie, lots of wonderful songs in it. Kris Kristofferson is an amazing song writer.

My mom used to love Barbara Streisand. I saw the movie in 76 it was very romantic this song n the movie. She one of the greatest singers ever!! I think she listened to Shirley Bassey because their ranges are similar. Shirley Bassey is 86 n still can belt out tunes. “Diamonds are forever” James Bond theme and “Gold finger” classics Shirley is a serious check her out!!!

Evergreen was written, composed, song by and was in a movie staring Barbra (A Star Is Born) and, if memory serves me - won an Oscar for Best Song - it really is a beautiful love song and done extremely well by Barbra and Kris Kristofferson. Thank you over and over again. A suggestion - one song sung by Barbra was during the 2001 Emmy Awards closing number - Barbra sang "You Will Never Walk Alone" as a salute to those who lost their lives and to the first responders who lost their lives trying to save those who unfortunately lost their lives when the towers collapsed _ it was an extremely moving and emotional performance. That performance is here on You Tube beginning to end.
