How to Spot a Fake Soldering Iron 😮

In this video, I've explained how to Spot or identify a Fake Soldering Iron or soldering station. You can follow my test using an AC energy measurement circuit (previously published project) that can measure the active power of any AC load as well.
all my soldering irons were ceramic-based, which means the heating element is ceramic. You will be amazed when you realize a 40W soldering Iron is actually 10W.

Any ideas on spotting fake Hakko soldering stations?

I don't have one. in my opinion, "soldering stations" are better, check if it has a manufacturer and if that manufacturer has a website where you can check its products. doesn't matter if it is a famous brand or not

Hi Vanitar, do you have a recomendation of soldering iron to start with?. I have a JBC 14s and I love it but for some tasks I think it is better something more powerfull . Thank you

Nothing special, just as I said generally soldering stations are better. if the manufacturer name is clear

You need to tell people on FB that some fidelity may be lost when playing back via FB. I couldn't see any of the text on your power meter screen , until I opened your video in the browser. That was on my cell phone.

usually, FB opens a video in RUclips, but in some cases, it doesn't

No, you have to measure the power. it is an AC load. but because this is a resistive load (not inductive), you can also measure the AC RMS current using an RMS multimeter and multiply by the RMS AC voltage (Vrms * Irms)
