I'm watching this on my 38th bday. This happened a day after my 9th,. 29 years later I still remember this weekend of football very well! My family are mostly Eagles fans so the Bucs win over the Birds really stands out! I also saw in person eventual Dolphins QB Jay Fiedler and Dartmouth lose to Lehigh the day before.
I still can't get over seeing a different QB for the Packers BEFORE A-Rod and Favre. Blair Kiel started 2 games for the Packers, one in 90 and the other one in this one. Sadly this would also be Kiel's last start and appearance for the Packers as they would sign Mike Tomczak who didn't start initially, it was only after the season was lost after a loss vs the Jets put us at 2-7 where Tomczak would start the rest of the season for the Packers. We would stick with the Magic Man Majkowski to start 1992, and as we all know, in week 3, a certain QB the Packers traded for from the Falcons, would take over after Magic Man got hurt with an ankle injury, and the rest is history. Kiel passed away in 2012 at the age of 50 from a heart attack, may he rest in peace.
I remember when they had Don Majkowski “The Magic Man” and Anthony Dilweg “The Wizard” and once they both went down they turned to Blair Kiel “The Sorcerer” lol. I loved Bermans nicknames. They helped remember players names.
Football Outsiders ranks this '91 Eagles defense as the greatest in their period of advanced stats (1983-present). Better than the '85 and '86 Bears, the Legion of Boom, the 2000 Ravens, etc. But they counteracted it with maybe the worst offense of all-time with Randall out and McMahon banged up. This Bucs game sums that up--the offense musters up 2 field goals despite getting like 36 turnovers, and by the end the defense is trying to go all-out to force turnovers and it ends up biting them.
They played 8 different QB's on offense that year . And still went 10-6 just missing the playoffs on a tie breaker. That's how dominant that defense was. The 77 Falcons if not for a even worse then the eagles probably goes down as #1 if they have even a above average offense. The most forgotten great D of all time IMO. The grits blitz!
I think that Eagles-Bucs game was just as humorous as the "Stupor Bowl II" season finale, so the 1991 Bucs normally weren't good, but they could be funny.
ESPN sucks now but bc it’s just guys who push narratives, it’s an entertainment channel now with have no deeper analysis of sports. you guys are such crybabies going “wahhh it’s woke!!l” do me a favor and define woke to me. Is it when black people exist? Is it when someone’s gay? Is it when they have politics you disagree with?
I enjoy ESPN's music what a classic
Wish I can wake up tomorrow and watch this live in 1991 😕
Love those Eagles and Buccaneers jerseys!

Thanks for setting football back about 20 years

"OH MY GOODNESS THE BUCCANEERS SCORE A TOUCHDOWN!”
The football cards I wasted my money on in middle school in action. Miss the early 90s!
I still have mine. I'm 36. I don't know what to do with them
I love this era of nfl primetime
When the Seahawks were in the AFC. MC Hammer at the LA Raiders game is legendary!

4:28 “This is the advice: Get rid of the hex. Get rid of the hex…”
This is a real treat. I watched this show religiously back then, Now, modern highlight (and pregame) shows are unwatchable.
With today’s rules there would be an extra 1 million penalties. Miss real football 😭
Ok, Boomer
That might have been the first Vikings loss that ever made me truly mad.

The Redskins were undefeated for the Giants in week 9.
7:11 Steve Atwater doing his thing
Mike Onion Pagel
When they stood for the anthem.
Yes how refreshing, sadly those days are gone 🤔
It's a fumble
Sorry what I meant was Tom Jackson Joe Theismann and Chris Berman
Those were some dreadful Packer teams. Bad organization from top to bottom back then.
This is when ESPN was great. Not the woke trash they are now.
It has nothing to do with being woke, the station just sucks now.

And the Chicago Bears offense still sucked in 1991……nothing changes…
