Amazing video, just love all the work with welding and polishing. I think I would have just polished it and then put some clearcoat on it. Just to se the beautiful work.
The frame alone was 4500 pounds, so around 5750$! The wheelset was at least 1200$, XTR Drivetrain is around 1500$, XT brakes without rotors are 250$ for a pair, Pirelli scorpions are 180$ for a pair. I know that you didnt say that it was around 5000$, but this bike was more expensvie than it looks. I listed only a few parts, the whole bike was at least 8000$, pretty insane amount for a bikepacking bike.
I was wondering the same thing. spend 10k on a bike and cheap out on the shifter... cheaping out on something you'll be using every minute on a bike like this is just ridiculous. What's an extra $200 on shifters for a bike like this...
@@collinmcdonald1599 Excactly... I have a Saint(Shimano's top DH groupset, an the same level with XTR) 10 speed shifter on my 1200$ 26inch bike, it was like 15% of the bike's value, bought it for the double release, and of course to flex on my friends.

@@collinmcdonald1599 I wouldnt be so sure. I did count a bit: 4500 pound frame, so 5750$. XTR 12 speed casette is 450$, XTR cranks are around 500$ XTR rear deraulier - 250$. I've had 5 blocks of adverts in the first 15 minutes of this video......I want everyone to make their money out of this but it's hard to watch a chilled asmr style build video with the volume up to enjoy it and have adverts steam in every 3 minutes loud as hell.....
May I just ask, what is the new greese you are using? Seemes very thick and guwie 😅Is there any reson you are using it in todays build or have I just not seen you use it before🤔 Either way, thankyou for the video!
Cool video. Curious why you're welding steel tube joints with bronze filler rod? Bronze isn't as strong as steel. Is this a common practice in the bike industry?
Yeah it’s a particular welding method called brazing, silver rods (well an alloy with a variable percentage of silver) are used as well, normally it’s considered better than tig for a minor thermic shock in the welding area and so a more robust and flexible junction. On the other hand it’s slower and more expensive
brazing is just as strong as welding for bike frames, if not more so. it's only common for bespoke builds, as it takes more time to get the joints nice and smooth and pretty.
@@collinmcdonald1599 Why go wider than 2.4? It is not a fatbike. Also scorpions are so good that they have more grip in the 2.4 variant than most high end 2.6 tires, yet they have very very low rolling resistance.

Amazing built. Beautiful paint job. I hope the owner uses helicopter tape or the paint would be ruined in the first trip.
Are those bars actually made of wood???
Nice build, but when steering, the strap of the front bag scratch the paint ;-)
Woooow 😯

Yes, awesome, a great bike. How much does that cost?

Pardon my dumb brain!!
What was the reason to do brazing and not tig/mig weld the joints
Is there any specific reason?

How hard is it to actually put tires on with cush core installed???

That's juice lube, they using it quite some time now. It's made for wet and low temperature conditions. Basically made for UK riding.
@@petrsupita thankyou 🙃
Imagine putting synthesis wheels on a bike with a rigid fork
imagine having an xtr drivetrain and SLX shifters...
Did anyone catch what cassette that was? With the double upfront it looks like a cheeky illegal gear range.
It is Shimano XTR CS-M9100 10-51 or 10-45 casette.

Just when you think there couldn't be a more dangerous stem for carbon steerer tubes....
👍
Why is there so much clearance between the front tire and the fork? Is the frame designed for a suspension fork?
It’s a suspension-corrected build.
A mtb suspension fork can be installed without affecting the bike stance.
makes me wonder why they didn't go with wider tires...
@@collinmcdonald1599 Why go wider than 2.4? It is not a fatbike. Also scorpions are so good that they have more grip in the 2.4 variant than most high end 2.6 tires, yet they have very very low rolling resistance.
