Loved this man since I saw him perform at The Winter Gardens in Morecambe, with his band the Cavemen in 1956.Seen him in almost everything he has done ever since. His knighthood last year was so overdue. Thank you Tommy for the pleasure you have given your lifelong fans for over 65 years.
At first I was a little afraid to watch this video but now I can't stop. I got hooked to that Green Grow The Rushes Ho song. Tommy Steele does it to perfection! He is my favorite of all time actor, dancer, singer(whatever! he's my favorite)! Thank you for letting me watch this! Thanks, SARAH.D
I remember going to the London Palladium with all the other kids from the Dickens estate where Tommy was from and seeing him on stage at a Xmas pantomime and he shouted out to us lot 'Oi...humper humper' and we all shouted back 'stick it up ya jumper' haha, love that man for being proud of where he came from even though hitting on a starlight life.
An interesting film made for the BBC Omnibus series broadcast in December 1969.The film features Steele's daughter Emma as a baby, she was born in March 1969.
Do you actually live in London? It's far better now than back then, in my opinion. So much more happening, so many more things to do. Back in the late 60's the docklands was dying on its arse.
