Ugh... what I wouldn’t give to have a ridged Shovelhead in my garage right now! I’ve been looking for a 1980 Shovelhead to build out because I want a bike from my birth year and I’d immediately put a springer front on it like this! Great looking ride! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

    • @TaterGrabbinBass

@wil v that’s awesome! I just love the old Harley’s, the nostalgia and history of the brand is such a great story. People don’t understand that you can have an old Harley and it’d likely out live you because the motors are heirloom motors. And most parts are pretty easy to come by. Maybe you’ll be riding your FLH for another 31 years!
I’m still trying to find one for myself. I’d like to get one and build a chopper/bobber with my pop because he’s battling esophagus cancer (2019) and was recently diagnosed with brain cancer last year (the day before Thanksgiving 2020). So it’d be nice to have a project for him and I to work on with the time he has left. We’ve had a rocky relationship and I think it’d be a nice father son bonding experience for us. We have to enjoy the short time we have because life is extremely short and fragile.
Enjoy your bike, enjoy your life and make amazing memories with the ones you love!
      Ride safe brother! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

@@ZiggyNobrakesin my 40+ years experience building Harley engines, I've learned that turning the idle down too far can have adverse outcomes on the overall life of an engine. Think about all those parts inside the mil. They're built to spin and flow together. Super slow idles may sound groovy, but they're hard on all those moving parts.
There's a big difference in the care of an engine between the guy who has to rebuild his after only 50K miles, and the guy who gets 150K or more out of his engines.
Proper warm-up are also vitally important to the life of an engine.

Also when I reach down to the mag, I’m advancing the timing and turning the idle down as the motor speeds up. Also, the enricher was only used in priming kicks. I’ll take a complicated 3 kicks over kicking the hell out of it and not backfiring on startup.
