@@paulmaccartney9830 only 2% is available for mainstream viewers cuz the nba for some reason wants it to be very difficult for people to get footage of the old days so you have to search far n wide for archives and even have to pay some people to get more footage that was taken. Back then of course media cameras wasn’t what it was in later years either so alot of footage was easily lost and damaged too

I was in attendance at Convention Hall in Philly and Wilt's 76ers were playing the S.F. Warriors. There was a play where big Nate Thurmond went up for a layup and Wilt blocked the shot and the ball went to Tom Meschery at the foul line. Meschery shot a jump shot from there and Wilt blocked that too. The ball went to a 76er who started out on a fast break. Coming down from the right side was Wilt who got the ball and did a windmill slam dunk. The crowd went nuts!

people who try to discredit wilt today are being intellectually dishonest imo. he had good competition. at the very least, a wilt today would be among the best in the league i would say. if not dominant. how he moves and what he does in that time period, and the condition he kept himself in, he obviously had the drive and the will to be great. looks like he's routinely get a block a steal and an assist in one swoop, you have to combine the drive with the talent to do that, and rack up all the stats he did. be honest with yourselves folks

Although Chamberlain was great in the 1960's, his highlights would not even register in 2023. It was a different era. You can clearly see by the footage that he couldn’t dribble, couldn’t shoot jumpers, couldn’t shoot free throws (career 50%), had very limited and rudimentary offensive moves. He benefited because of his size and the rules of the game allowed what we call today goaltending and playing against firemen and plumbers.

@@luigipavanello9248 Yes…you can’t be looking at the same footage I’m looking at. Yes, he is athletic…but NO he was not highly skilled. But back then he didn’t have to be and no centers were so he excelled.

Plumbers? The average height of an NBA center in 1960 was 6’10.1’”. In 2021, the average height of an NBA center was 6’10.5”. That’s less than a half inch difference. The tallest NBA center in 1960 was Swede Halbrook who was 7’3” which was 2 inches taller than Wilt Chamberlain. Swede Halbrook averaged only 5 points per game. Have you seen Wilt dunking right over Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? Jabbar was one inch taller than Wilt and 10 years younger. And yet Wilt out rebounded Kareem by an average of about 6 rebounds per game all 3 years they were in the league together.

@@wiltchamberlainisthegoat13 Are we looking at the same footage? There were very few skilled players in those days because the game was still evolving. A player with Wilt Chamberlain’s skills could not even make the NBA today. His athleticism on the other hand is another story.
