Michael Jordan has no case to be the number 1 NBA player of all time. He has no case to be the number 1 NBA shooting guard of all time. He never had a case to be the number 1 NBA player when he was in the NBA. If you are going to rank players, lots of players are better than him. Lots of players could beat him in a one on one game. He doesn't have the best NBA statistics of all time. He is not the best scorer of all time. He is the most overrated sports star in the history of mankind. And I could give you more examples, but you get the point.............Also, Michael Jordan fans have lots of takes where they are wrong, or where they make things up, or where they contradict themselves, or where they move the goal post, or where they don't do enough research, or where they cherry pick things, or where they are not consistent, or where they react in a negative way if someone has a take that they think is taking away from Michael Jordan..........Also, Michael Jordan fans are the worst sports fans of all time, and they are the flat Earthers of the NBA world then.....................Now, if you disagree, you can go on my program and show me why you are right. If you want to go on email TheTelephoneUniverse@Gmail.Com...........And now watch how most Michael Jordan fans will ignore all this, and they won't go on my podcast to show me how they're right on whatever they disagree on, and they will get annoyed, and they will write something negative online...........and you know why they are like this?.............Because they know that they have no proof that will prove that I am wrong on whatever they disagree on, and they are in love with Michael Jordan, and they have too much pride to admit that they are wrong in anything, and they are not educated on the NBA.

Honestly I think the whole GOAT debate is endlessly pointless. So many variables you could choose to add and weigh, or ignore. Wilt happens to be the guy I consider to be the most individually dominant basketball player ever but by metrics like how many rings/back to back championships it's going to be somebody else. Certain things cannot be captured by metrics. How much did a player improve his team as a whole? How good were his team mates individually and how good was the synergy, did the guys get along etc.

Whenever we would drop someone off at LAX we would park in a holding area and wait our turn to pick up a passenger who had just landed. As I'm sitting there I notice this very large man who could be Wilt Chamberlain talking to a few of the other cab drivers. By the time I left ( about 45 minutes later) he was still talking to these cabbies. But not only talking, but you would have thought all of them were best friends. He was super friendly and sincere. I was very impressed with this man and how he engaged people.

Widen the lane from 12' to 16'.
Offensive Goaltending (though Bill Russell probably had some input into that one).
Free Throw must leave your hand before you cross the line of the free throw line (Wilt is known to have been able to DUNK from the free throw line with a 2-3 step start as a freshman in college - unknown if he could do it from a standing start AT the line but you were not required to BE at the line for the shot - just behind it).
Just from the top of my head.
The only major change I can remember from the MJ era was the Flagrant Foul rule growing teeth (after the 1990 Finals) - but that was more do to dirty players like Laimbeer, even if it DID help MJ indirectly.

Other teams aren’t just letting him score or giving him rebounds. He played against other good players. People are competitive, especially at the pro level. When we signed up for the camp we didn’t know West would be there. Among other things, he put on a shooting exhibition for us, played in a game with the camp counselors, who were players from SoCon schools, and handed out awards at the conclusion of the camp. When you talk about Wilt Chamberlain he was in another league or shall we say category. His size, strength and athletic ability were outside the scope of normal human beings. Wilt had is own sports car made for his personal use that could drive 180- 200 mph, he also had a RollsRoyce that had a top speed of 112 miles an hour?
The RollsRoyce would probably take about 30 hours or less to make New york to San Francisco but his sports car at 130 mph could make the trip in 23 hours?
So Wilt was arguably on the mark on the trip, he also suffered from a sleep disorder and didn't eat for days and spent much of his time at a night club he owned.
What do you do when you cannot sleep, well according to Wilt he either drove nearly 3000 miles or found female companionship and he got very few complaints from his car or women, except from the media?

7 days on the other hand is ALSO bull - I've driven 2000 miles in an E250 in less than 3 days, so figure 5 AT MOST for the full distance - and that was WITH SLEEP STOPS every night and close to 4000 pounds of stuff in the back.

Bill Russell could actually eat more than Wilt could but chose not to. He would make his team mates better eaters and the team would finish the whole meal together. That food would have gone to waste if not for the intangibles of Bill. He would have made Jerry eat more than a little slice of brisket sandwich. Wilt was a selfish eater for finishing all the food by himself. That's why Bill threw up before each game. Not because of nerves. He ate too much the day before.
